There is a garden centre just outside Edinburgh with a tropical indoor garden. At one end of the garden are housed exotic snakes and spiders. There is a 10 foot long python whose body is as thick as a tree trunk. Hanging from the roof are ropes and along these ropes Leafcutter Ants industriously spend their day ferrying leaves between a tree and their nest.

We were trying to reach the summit of Mullach Fraoch-choire. To do so it was necessary to cross the snow that was sitting on the shoulders of the ridge. We had stopped at the beginning of the narrow ridge that led to the summit. We did not have crampons, ropes or axes and had we slipped there would have been no way to arrest our slide down the 500ft drop on either side of the mountain.
So we stopped and thought for a moment, looking out across the ridge that led to the summit.

We had set off from our campsite in the trees on the left shore of Loch Affric. It had been a long walk to the point where we could begin to ascend Mullach Fraoch-choire. At this point, two decided to head down and walk around Loch Affric. This is why they are smiling.
