Kids Klutter Katchers are Neat (it's a pun!)
2008-06-23 22:12:55
Confession: I am not a naturally organized person. Yes, I am a "piler" (not a filer). I have been trying to rehabilitate my piling ways for several years, with the help of old episodes of Clean Sweep and the cold dose of reality that having children brings, I am definitely making progress. When I travel, I REALLY strive to be organized. I make lists, I divide things into bags within bag

Robeez for the Weekend!
2008-06-23 20:52:23
Baby Deak is officially a walker now, and has been enjoying padding around in his Robeez Weekend Collection shoes. Robeez are thin-soled, flexible, and light-weight, which earns them the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) seal of approval. That sounds good for developing baby toes! Besides being safe for physical development, Robeez are durable, skid-resistant (the soles are made

Your Baby Can Be A Spa Baby
2008-06-23 20:51:35
My boys love to take a bath now, but that wasn't always the case. When they were infants, they hated bathing in the plastic infant tub. In the infant tub, most of the baby's body is OUT of the water, causing them to FREEZE! It is very uncomfortable, and usually they let the world know about this with angry baby shrieks. I am very much in love with this NEW style of baby tub, Spa Baby! Spa Baby

Bamboosa Luxury
2008-06-23 15:42:06
Bamboosa is a company who makes beautiful clothing, blankets, soaps, even a stuffed toy out of bamboo fibers. I have lived in Asia for several years. Bamboo grows there (some species at the amazing rate of 4 feet per day) quite prolifically. I knew it was useful for making fishing poles, fences, and bamboo soup, but the clothing thing is a new and exciting concept to me! I had to try one for

Throw them a Little Fit
2008-06-23 07:35:10
I was a decidedly pro-sun-tan as a teenager, but since becoming a mother (and living in Asia where I constantly hear the praises my whiteness) I have become a sun-phobic. Especially with my little fair-skinned men, I want to take every precaution. But, I don't want them to have to wear those dopey Australian bush-hats or anything that will make them look like nerds. I'm trying to up the "

I Need My Little Seat!
2008-06-22 22:11:54
I knew when my first child was born that we would be doing a lot of traveling. I also knew that the typical restaurant in Southeast Asia does not provide high chairs. I can be extremely single minded when I'm on a "quest", so I obsessively read customer reviews on all kinds of portable feeding chair solutions. We tried one that "inflated". It was too puny...prone to tippage and

Bink-Tees for Travel Ease
2008-06-19 23:44:24
Something I really don't enjoy while flying is RETRIEVING DROPPED ITEMS UNDER MY AIRPLANE SEAT! There is no room to bend over, I either have to blindly grope for the (*small items that we dropped) or try to stick my head under the too-small space and look around. Either way, it is uncomfortable. I definitely don't want to go spelunking for lost pacifiers. I'm very excited to use our new Bink-Tee

[bump] Fashion
2008-06-19 09:32:22
This time last year, I was pregnant with my second child. It was summer, there was a drought, it was hot. What annoyed me, more than not being able to open the refrigerator without feeling the urge to puke, were those, "Is she pregnant? Or is she fat?" stares. If only I had been familiar with [bump] babies! [bump] babies provides pregnant moms (and daddies to be) with snarky, cute, and

Let Them Wear ShooShoos
2008-06-17 22:56:38
Right or wrong, I have always loved shoes. In fact, shoes are usually the first thing I notice about a person's appearance. So, of course as a mom, I want my baby to have cool shoes. I learned very early that not all baby shoes are created equally. When it comes to baby's precious piggies, you do not want to skimp on quality! So, I'm ready to tell the world: I am in love with ShooShoos!

Happy Birthday, Papa!
2008-06-15 21:24:55
My husband had a birthday on May 25th! I threw him a surprise party with help from my parents. The surprise element was a bit foiled when he got home from work earlier than I expected him, but we still had a lot of fun!

Travel Update
2008-06-14 12:43:46
The GREAT PACKING is about to begin. There will be 2 adults (my husband and I) who will get 2 bags each. Each bag can weigh up to 70lbs. Jojo gets 2 70 lb bags. Baby Deak gets a combination of two of the following three choices: one 70lb bag, one stroller, one car seat. We will probably choose the stroller and car seat as his luggage. We will pack 3 foot lockers (trunks) and 3 large duffel bags

"These Shoes Go Up To Eleven!"
2008-06-10 20:53:50
There are definitely a lot of specialty manufacturers of high-end shoes for babies. But now that I have a child who is 3 1/2 years old and in a size 9, I almost feel like my options are drying up. That's why I was VERY pleased to discover the Eleven Collection. Eleven Collection is the sister company of See Kai Run. While See Kai Run makes quality baby and toddler shoes, Eleven Collection carries

Picaflor Kids are Well Dressed!
2008-06-07 23:16:08
Many things impressed me about Picaflor Kids before I ever even saw one of their swanky little children's clothing ensembles. Initially I was impressed to learn that the clothes are made from rayon produced from naturally occurring polymers, meaning it is not synthetic! The result is an eco-friendly art-silk fabric. Picaflor Kids clothing is hand-crafted in Peru. A percentage of Picaflor Kids

Babykeeper Winner
2008-06-07 23:15:12
I thought I would pull out this picture from 6 months ago, when Jojo apparently used to look like Yoda. I call it "JODA". As Yoda might say, "Announcing the BabyKeeper winner I am. With BabyKeeper, there is no TRY to go to the bathroom. There is only DO or DO NOT." Hi. Still here? Thanks for putting up with my dork-lapse. That's what happens when it's just a late night; a Mom

Because You Can't Always Hold It
2008-06-06 23:28:00
In order for you to understand how excited I am about this product, I need to tell you a story. In most of Asia, you won't find a "western style" toilet in public areas. If you don't know what I am talking about, allow me to enlighten you. Behold, the SQUAT TOILET: Even if this is your first time seeing a squat toilet, you might have already figured out that instead of SITTING on the toi

Protect Those Wittle Eyes!
2008-06-04 21:54:05
I am a huge advocate of sun protection. On a recent family beach trip, we all slathered up with SPF 50 every day. None of us were bronzed at the end of our trip, but we were protected from harmful UV rays. I am also beginning to learn that it is important to protect young children's eyes from UV radiation as well as their skin. I have been told that babies and children are actually more

CARES Winner!
2008-05-31 23:51:53
Here is a vintage 2006 picture of Jojo and I preparing to leave South East Asia and fly to the U.S. I didn't have a CARES then, but I hope this is inspirational all the same. Side note: I remember holding Jojo on my hip like that while someone took FOREVER in the airplane bathroom. When I was finally able to get in to the bathroom (I was waiting in line to use the changing table), Jojo's poo

Keeper of the Home in an Apron by Carolyn West
2008-07-07 10:04:20
Yes, it's no secret; I'm up to my elbows in things to do. The good news is that I am slowly but surely making my way down the list. I found a source of inspiration for my household duties at The Hillbilly Housewife. I don't actually consider myself a hillbilly, or even a housewife really, but her Apron testimonial really hit home for me. In short, it was on "one of those days" that her o

“It doesn't matter if the water is cold or warm if you're going to have to wade through it anyway” -Teilhard de Chardin True story: once upon a time I was on a domestic flight. The cabin of the plane was cold. This was the dialog between me and the flight attendant. Let's call her "Ms. Hannigan": CanCan: "Excuse me, may I have a blanket please?"Ms. Hannigan: "No.&quo

Peel Me Off A Piece of Peeled Snacks
2008-07-06 22:36:34
Back in the good old days, they used to feed airline passengers. I was shocked and dismayed (also cranky and angry) the first time I flew back to the USA after the whole "nickel and dime passengers for small "luxuries" like snacks because they are a captive audience" trend. It was negative experiences like that, and also the time that Air China simply "forgot" the veg

See Baby Deak. See Kai Run.
2008-07-04 23:19:34
I consider myself to have "classic" taste in clothing and decor. I like for clothing and shoes to have a timeless look, yet also be stylish with a splash of funky thrown in to keep things interesting. I think See Kai Run uses that recipe when they make their adorable urban shoes for babies and toddlers...See Kai Run likes to call it "urban takes on classic styles". See Kai Run
