They blend metally guitar with soft synth with throwbacks to oldschool 80s music and grind qualities to make electronic experimental grindesque stuff, not in the lame style that young bands seem to be cashing in on. They aren't like all scened out or anything dumb like that. 3 guys: 1 guitarist, a vocalist who does drum programming, and a keyboardist who does drum programming. I think the singer plays synth too. Alot of their stuff is chaotic yet soothing. TPeople who like ferguson's style of music most likely won't be into this (haha just a warning). The duo recorded a demo, and later were joined by the rhythm section of Frederic and Oscar, completing the band. Their 2003 debut, O Solitude, is every bit the doom album the title might imply, with the shortest of the five songs being almost eight minutes long and two well over the ten minute mark. The vocals are usually of the death variety, but the pace and depth of the music makes this band more a funereal doom band than a doomdeath band. It's pretty ponderous stuff, but the songs are rich with atmosphere and shade, and the lyrics add to the somber moods. Not the most uplifting of albums, but O Solitude is a solid ultra-slow doom release. Founder Kostas Panagiotou relocated to England in 2004 and recruited a new lineup, which produced two albums in 2005. We’re talking about stuff like early Boris, which has more in common with Earth than with the more modern Sunn O))), Hlidolf and such. We can attribute that to the rise of sludgecore, specifically Neurosis and Isis. While sometimes terribly overrated, like it or not, they both introduced a new aesthetic idea and an original way of riffing. How do sludgecore and Hyatari connect? Hyatari is precisely sludgecore gone drone. If you've heard both Enemy of the Sun and A Sun that Never Sets by Neurosis, you'll somehow be able to recognize what's going on here. It's not a carbon-copy of it, not at all, but both The Light Carriers and Enemy of the Sun could have been made by the same band, except The Light Carriers is much, much more interesting. It creates an occultic atmosphere around it that reall affects even the speakers. This is difficult to explain, but listening to this album has always been an intense experience for me. Particularly in the dark when submerged in my own emotions of sorrow and despair. This album creates an esoteric, oblique view of life and emotions that must be how ghosts or spirits feel to wander around in a seething mass of humanity. O'Malley and Rehberg have created another installment of genre crossing experimentation that definitely meets the requirement of "dark." The material shows its pedigree well, with neither artist dominating the other sound-wise: O'Malley's slow motion riffing is augmented nicely with Rehberg's laptop electronics. Opener "Game" and ending piece "Snow 2" bookend the work well, the former being a heavy low-end drone that begins near inaudible and builds greatly in volume and dynamics by the end, while the latter sounds like extremely lo-fi guitar parts recorded deep within a dungeon, mingling with the electronics that end up closing the disc with a film score flair. And the outcome of it is excellent..The demo entitle ''Spasming and Howling, Bowels Loosening and BladdersEmptying, Vomiting'' is going to make you listen to it once and not everagain.. Fuzzmusick.The title itself looks gruesome but wait till you hear the songs in it..It's pure noise.. It's a Avant-garde/black metal/drone/noise/funeral doommixture..
