Spring Trend : Ruffled Blouses 2007-03-10 16:52:50 One of the major trends for Spring
2007 is ruffles and bows on absolutely everything. These cute and feminine touches are accenting everything from purses to shoes lately.
The newest trend for spring when it comes to girly embellishments is the ruffled blouse.
Blouses
like the purple top above (Nannette Lepore - $242) and the white top on the right (Joie - $105) are splurges, but there are affordable options as well.
This yellow top (below) by dELiA*s is an adorable version of the same style, for a fraction of the price ($32.50!!) Plus, we all know yellow is a hot color for spring.
These blouses look great with everything from jeans to a denim skirt to nice pants. They are fun and romantic and great for spring, but they also don’t make you look like you’re trying too hard.
Another great example of an affordable ruffled blouse is this blue one from Guess? (on the right.) It’s $59 which is a little more expensive, but it’s so adorable and versatile that I def Read more:Ruffled

College Fashion Trend : Metallic Totes 2007-03-07 19:15:46 Spring fashion is finally starting to arrive on campus. Even though temperatures (at least in the Northeast) have been ridiculously cold as of late, many college fashionistas are beginning to incorporate spring fashion’s colors and styles into their winter wardrobes.
One example is the metallic tote bag.
These bags are a huge trend at my school. I see them everywhere, in colors ranging from simple gold to sparkling platinum and bronze.
This is one trend that I absolutely love! First of all, metallics match with practically everything, so long as you match warm colors with warm and cool with cool. Also, these totes are actually very practical. Most are big enough to hold all your stuff for any class, which is a huge bonus.
Plus, admit it.. what girl doesn’t love accessories that sparkle?

Welcome to College Fashion .net 2007-03-05 07:23:24 Hi and welcome to CollegeFashion
.net, a fashion blog for style-conscious college students. My name is Briana. I’m an undergrad at a big university in the northeast US, and I’ll admit it right now - I’m a fashion addict. (You probably are too if you’re reading this!) I have a passion for clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories and designer labels. I’m also a typical student though, and I don’t have a ton of money. For these reasons, I’ve become a “college fashion” expert. I decided to create this blog to share my knowledge on how to keep up with fashion and look gorgeous on a budget while still balancing classes, friends, dating and everything else.
College Fashion
will be a daily source for the latest fashion trends, health and beauty tips, deals, coupons, and of course tips and articles on how to make the most of college life.
This website is going to grow considerably over the next few months, and I hope you enjoy it! In the mean Read more:Welcome
How to Walk in High Heels 2007-03-12 16:25:18 Do you love cute shoes but shy away from high heels because you can’t walk in them? This video sheds a little light on the situation. Heels
are getting higher and higher for spring, and nothing looks worse than someone in amazing shoes that can’t work them.

College Fashion Trend : So Low Pants 2007-03-12 03:35:09 Don’t get me wrong here - I don’t condone living in sweats 24/7. It just looks sloppy. Besides, why wear sweats when there are so many cute pairs of jeans out there? But… I have to confess, I’m definitely in love with So Low foldover pants for those rare occasions when comfort is the number one priority.
For those of you who don’t know about these adorable and super-comfy sweats, I’m sure you’ve seen them around campus. They come in a billion different colors, and are made in a great soft and stretchy fabric. Also, you can fold them down to make them as low-rise or high-rise as you want. Seriously, don’t wear them to class because you might fall asleep in them! They’re that comfy.
The other great thing about So Low pants is the colors and styles they come in. These black and pink pants are the Jersey Colorblock Foldover Pants
, and come in colors from pink to brown to bright blue. So Low also makes solid jersey Read more:College

College Fashion Don’t: Flip Flops in March 2007-03-14 02:41:06 Maybe this will come as a newsflash to some people, given the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having in New England lately, but…. IT’S STILL MARCH!
Now, I’m just as happy with the 55 degree temperatures as the next girl! It’s amazing to be able to go outside without wearing a billion layers of clothing and sacrificing cuteness for practicality in my footwear. But some people at my university have just crossed the line.
Thats right, I’m talking to you, girls at my school who wore flip flops today! I’m sorry if I’m offending some of you but it needs to be said. Repeat with me here. If there is still SNOW on the ground, you don’t wear your flip flops outside. Period.
I don’t care how warm you think it is out. I don’t care how badly you want to trudge through a half-melted snow drift in your new flip flops. You just don’t look good doing it. Not even if you wear the most adorable flip fl Read more:College

Facebook Tip: Edit your Privacy Settings! 2007-03-13 16:30:47 Facebook is a staple of the college life. Most people at college have Facebook profiles, and check the website multiple times a day. We all love posting ridiculous pictures of our friends and writing whatever we want on there without thinking about it. The only problem is, Facebook isn’t just for college students anymore. There are a lot of people out there (aka employers!!) who might not think so highly of you if they read your profile.
These days, people are actually getting fired from their jobs because of their Facebook profiles! It seems crazy, but it’s true. That’s why you need to make the most of Facebook’s privacy settings ASAP, before its too late.
A great article on this subject that I highly reccomend:

Amazing Hair Product: L’OREAL Nutri Gloss 2007-03-17 01:54:59 I don’t rave about shampoo and conditioner very often. My hair goes through a lot. It’s naturally a medium blonde that’s little bit wavy, and I highlight it regularly and straighten it daily. My hair gets pretty damaged, and I’m always on the lookout for something that will make it look and feel like silk.
That’s why I am SO EXCITED right now. I can proudly admit that I have finally found my Holy Grail of shampoo and conditioner. Behold: L’OREAL Vive Pro Nutri-Gloss
.
I have this shampoo and conditioner in the formulas for “medium to long hair that’s damaged”, and they are seriously incredible. My hair has never ever ever ever felt so soft or looked so shiny since before I started highlighting and straightening it on a regular basis. The tagline on this shampoo is “mirror shine, cashmere touch”, and I am sooo happy to say that it delivers on both promises.
You can buy this stuff at any CVS, Walgreens, St Read more:Amazing

Nude Polish - New Nail Trend 2007-03-19 18:14:10 Now that black nails are on their way out, a new trend in manicures is emerging for the spring. As seen on celebrities such as Paris Hilton (left), Lindsay Lohan and Sienna Miller, the newest nail polish trend is going nude.
While dark colors were everywhere this winter, spring fashion is winter’s polar opposite - all about bright colors, metallics and whites. This nail trend is great not only for its cuteness factor, but also because it is low maintenance (say goodbye to touching up your black nails on a daily basis!)
There are two great ways to wear this trend. Paris Hilton, above, rocks the nude nails trend with a pale opaque pink. Lindsay Lohan, on the other hand (pun intended), opts for a more mod look with an off white (below.)
If you want to get in on this white hot spring trend, there are tons of options for nude polishes available in stores right now. Some great examples:
1. OPI Nail Polish
in Bubble Bath
2. OPI Nail Polish in Your Royal Shyness

D&G Goes Greek 2007-03-20 17:25:20 Sorority sisters of the US be warned - fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is targeting you in their newest marketing campaign. The window displays for their D&G line of clothing are grabbing the attention of greek lifers everywhere with the clever “Delta Gamma” play on their name.
I have to agree with Fashionista on her take on this one - I don’t personally know any sorority girls either who wear D&G, but then again sororities are a bit of a joke at my school. At all the sororities here, “high fashion” means sweatpants, uggs, and a hoodie with said sorority’s logo emblazoned on the front in a bright color.
Cute idea from D&G though. I’m sure at colleges with a better greek life, this marketing will be a big hit! And this is definitely a step up from D&G’s last advertisements, which may only be described as rape fantasy chic. Yeah, grossed me out too. Anyway, props to D&G for improving slightly here.

How To Build a Timeless Wardrobe 2007-03-24 18:46:52 Most of us in college are too busy following the latest trends to worry about “building a wardrobe”, but investing in timeless pieces now will definitely pay off in the long run. In this post from TipsBin.com, the writer outlines many ways to choose clothing that is going to last you a few seasons, instead of outfits that are just going to be out of style in a few months time.
Some good points:
Invest in white tops. They go with everything and can be worn practically any season.
Quality denim is timeless. Dress jeans down with flats and a tee, or up with a nice blouse and classy pumps. Spend the money to get a few good quality pairs of jeans that fit you well.
Dresses are always versatile and stylish. If you buy the right one, it can work for practically any occasion.
You don’t need 234,923 handbags. A couple of high quality bags in classic colors will do.
We all need a “little black dress.” Enough said.
With all the focus on trends in college, it Read more:Build

The 15 Dollar Store! 2007-03-30 03:46:42 I’m pretty sure that I must have been living under a rock to not have heard of the website I discovered today. In fact, I’m still having some trouble believing that it isn’t a scam.
The 15 DollarStore
, an online retailer selling tops, jeans, dresses, shoes, handbags and more, ALL for $15 each… actually exists. It’s like TJ Maxx or H&M but with online shopping! And yes, I did say DRESSES for $15 each! Incredible, I know.
Just like our old friend TJ Maxx, The 15 Dollar Store doesn’t carry exclusively name-brand apparel, and some of the clothes are tacky to say the least. However, also like TJ Maxx, some higher end pieces are there for the taking so long as you’re willing to search for them. The store is also great for trendy pieces and inexpensive basics.
A few of my favorite 15 Dollar Store finds:

Study Says Fashion is “Like American Idol” 2007-03-29 15:44:56 We all know that fashion is ever changing. That’s part of what makes it so much fun! It does get somewhat crazy trying to keep up with the latest.. everything. As a fashion blogger, I’m reading hundreds of fashion news stories a day, most of which are all reporting on totally different trends that they think will be “the next big thing.” Many of these styles do become popular, but even more of the trends quickly die out and never truly have sticking power.
So how do we predict which new fashion trends will replace the old ones? A new study from Durham University states that fashion changes are consistent and do occur at a predictable rate, but exactly what trends come into fashion are also random and completely unpredictable by anyone.
“It’s like American
Idol,” said Dr. Alex Bentley, a Lecturer in the Anthropology Department at Durham University. “We can predict the steady production of new winners from programme to programme, but the randomness me Read more:Study

Banana Republic Espadrilles 2007-03-30 17:57:51 At my college in New England, the temperature today is a high of 63 degrees! We all know what that means - spring is here! To celebrate my favorite season for fashion, I purchased myself some adorable spring footwear:
Banana Republic
Slingback Open-Toe Espadrille
I think it’s safe to say that I’m in love with these shoes! I’ve been buying cute spring dresses like crazy, and now I finally have the perfect footwear to pair them with. It’s a little too cold to go bare legged just yet, but thats what leggings are for.
My new espadrilles also pair together two of the latest spring trends I’m loving right now - white everything and wedge heels. They look great with the monochrome look, and also work just as well with a more romantic and earthy palette.
Also, did I mention how comfy they are? I was a little intimidated by the size of the wedge, but I could walk miles in these. Its rare to find a shoe that will endure walking to class in a hurry, but

College Fashion Trend - Shiny Headbands 2007-04-03 00:04:00
Patent Headband: $14Buy at Nordstrom
The minute I get to my 12pm bio class, I can’t help but zone out. Science just isn’t my thing. I’m a business major, and I definitely don’t plan to work in a pharmaceutical company in the future. Instead of paying attention to science in bio class, I often stare off into space and check out everyone’s outfits.
During today’s fashion-scoping session, I was excited to see a girl two rows ahead of me rocking one of the latest trends in hair styles - a shiny patent leather headband. This college fashionista had on a bright white one that was very similar to the headband pictured here on the left.
This hot trend is popping up everywhere right now, and the options are endless. Headbands are an amazing fix for bed-head hair, and can also look adorable with a dressier updo. They work with casual or formal outfits, and come in many versatile colors for spring.
