2007-03-09 22:24:33
Hi, finally I bought Forerunner 305. Before I was user of Polar, but I was missing distance feature, so I switched to Garmin . I’m middle age male in average physical condition (pure amateur). Installation on PC was fast and easy(MS WinXP). After installation, check Garmin website, I found newer USB drivers and newer version of their Garmin Training Center® software. Menus on device are very good (three different) and they are fully configurable with parameters that you want (also level of details). Other screen are GPS signal, map etc. Your profile could be updated with age, weight, heart zones, more or less it can be full personalized. I installed client for MotionBased, you can use same user as for myGarmin. And then , heavy rain for last two days and I can’t run … I’ll continue to write about my usage of this nice device. I now I’m sick

Chichen Itza
2007-03-05 21:00:34
Hi, Chichen Itza (from Yucatec Maya chich’en itza’, “At the mouth of the well of the Itza”) is a large pre-Columbian archaeological site built by the Maya civilization, located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula, present-day Mexico. Chichen Itza was a major regional center in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic through the Terminal Classic and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period. The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, from what is called “Mexicanized” and reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico to the Puuc style found among the Puuc Maya of the northern lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion. Delphi
2007-03-01 21:40:49
Hi, Delphi (Greek Δελφοί — Delphee) is an archaeological site and a modern town in Greece on the south-western spur of Mount Parnassus in a valley of Phocis. In ancient times it was the site of the most important oracle, dating into prehistoric times as a site for the worship of Gaia and in classical times, converted to that of the god Apollo. Delphi was revered throughout the Greek world as the site of the omphalos (ομφαλός) stone, the centre of Earth and the universe. In the inner hestia (ἑστία), or her hearth, of what would become the Temple of Delphic Apollo (Ἀπόλλων Δελφίνιος — Apollon Delphinios), an eternal flame (άσβεστος φλόγα) burned. After the battle of Plataea, the Greek cities extinguished their fires and brought new fire from the hearth of Greece, at Delphi; in the foundation stories of several Greek colonies, the founding colonists were first dedicated at Delphi. Hagia Sophia , (the Church of) Holy Wisdom, now known as the Ayasofya Museum, was an early Christian Church and later an Eastern Orthodox church which was transformed into a mosque in 1453 by the Turks, and converted into a museum in 1935. It is located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is regularly considered one of the greatest, and most beautiful buildings in history. Its conquest by the Ottomans at the fall of Constantinople is considered one of the great tragedies of Christianity by the Greek Orthodox faithful. The name comes from the Greek name Ἁγία Σοφία, a contraction of Ναός τῆς Ἁγίας τοῦ Θεοῦ Σοφίας, meaning “Church of the Holy Wisdom of God”. It is also known as Sancta Sophia in Latin and Ayasofya in Turkish. Although it is sometimes called “Saint Sophia” in English, it is not named after a saint named Sophia — the Greek word sofia means “wisdom.” It was constructed in five years, from 532 to 537, and designed

Configuration of Forerunner 305
2007-03-18 21:32:03
Hi, I like very much customization option in Forerunner 305. It is easy to setup, you can choose from one to four values on screen and each is configurable. All profile or standard parameters can be choose as value. Check on picture how I organize three screens that are available for configuration. Also other features are very useful like Auto pause, Auto lap etc. After two runs I’m very satisfied with accuracy, it is between 5-9m, don’t expect centimeters :-).  It is easy to link route/run with Garmin maps or Google Earth. Virtual partner is great feature, you are running against your best time on course. It can motivate you after many runs on same courses.

This is great travel attractions. Pompeii is a ruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. It, along with Herculaneum were destroyed, and completely buried, during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius on 24 August 79 AD. The volcano buried Pompeii under many meters of ash, and it was lost for 1,600 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plan to add this to your tour attractions list. Coordinates: 40.750833° N 14.487083° E

Mont Saint-Michel
2007-05-17 15:57:42
Mont Saint -Michel (Mount Saint Michael) is a rocky tidal island in Normandy, roughly one kilometre from the north coast of France at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches. The inhabitants of Mont-Saint-Michel are called the Montois. Add this to your vacation locations list. In prehistoric times the bay were covered by the sea, which retreated over multiple glaciations, allowing erosion to shape the coastal landscape over millions of years. Several blocks of granite or granulite emerged in the bay, having resisted the wear and tear of the ocean better than the surrounding rocks. These included Lillemer, the Mont-Dol, Tombelaine and Mont Tombe, later called Mont Saint Michel. Mont-Saint-Michel used to be connected to the mainland via a thin natural land bridge, which before modernization was covered at high tide and revealed at low tide. Thus, Mont Saint Michel gained a mystical quality, being an island half the time, and being attached to land the other: a tidal island. Howeve

Cathedral of Chartres
2007-05-17 15:50:30
The Cathedral of Chartres “Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres”, located in Chartres, about 50 miles (80 km) from Paris, is considered one of the finest examples in all France of the “Gothic” style of architecture. The cathedral is still the seat of the Diocese of Chartres, in the Roman Catholic ecclesiastical province of Tours. Construction of a new building on the Romanesque foundations was begun in 1145 in a blaze of enthusiasm dubbed the ‘Cult of the Carts.’ During this religious outburst a crowd of more than a thousand penitents dragged carts filled with building provisions including stones, wood, grain, etc. to the site. In 1194 a fire destroyed all but the west front of the cathedral (and much of the town), so that part is in the “early Gothic” style. The body of the cathedral was rebuilt between 1194 and 1220, a remarkably short span for medieval cathedrals. It has a ground area of 117 058 square feet (10 875 m²). Great trip plann

Petra is an archaeological site in Jordan, lying in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is famous for having many stone structures carved into the rock. The long-hidden site was revealed to the Western world by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812. It was famously described as “a rose-red city half as old as time” in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. Burgon had not actually visited Petra, which remained accessible only to Europeans accompanied by local guides with armed escorts, until after World War I. Good choice to add on vacation guides. The statue shows a woman standing upright, dressed in a robe and a seven point spiked crown representing the seven seas and continents, holding a stone tablet close to her body in her left hand and a flaming torch high in her right hand.
