You can either share yours in the comments, or blog about it yourself. If you blog about it (and feel free to use the banner above), leave your blog site b

Should we boycott Subway?
2008-05-26 19:52:00
So many homeschoolers are up in arms about a contest that Subway has been running. You can read about it here. Apparently it is a contest that specifically states that it is NOT open to homeschoolers. The question then is this... is this discrimination against homeschoolers? Many folks think so. So much in fact, that they are calling for a boycott of Subway and letters to be written to management.

Affection passed down
2008-05-25 20:15:00
The gals over at Internet Cafe had a great topic for their weekly cafe chat. What is a positive tradition or godly character trait that you learned from your extended family that you hope to pass down to your own family? One of the first things that jumps out in my head is affection.HugsKissesSaying "I love you"My mom and dad were never shy with their affection towards us. We never had to doubt the

2008-05-22 19:30:00
Me to my four year old: Son, you know I don't like giving you spankings it breaks my heart. But I spank you becuase I love you and I want you to learn to be Holy for God. Now, why does mommy spank you son?My four year old: Because you love me and you want me to be moldy for God.It was too cute, I almost forgot to give him his spanking... almost.... And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never re

Why one and not the other?
2008-05-22 08:19:00
Someone sent a comment to me yesterday after I posted about our family going no TV. (This person shall remain nameless – although you know who you are!!) This person said, “Everything on your list also applies to the Internet – the TV has an off button, use it instead of throwing it out.”Excellent point! Valid Argument!I’ll explain, though, why this just isn’t enough for us and why w

One more tally mark for the "weird factor"...
2008-05-21 09:50:00
As if we were not weird enough. As if we were not already counter culture enough. As if our family didn't think we were strange enough. As if we already didn't look different enough to most of the world. We are now going to add more fuel to that fire. Thanks God! I so appreciate that.Yup, He has been putting down the gauntlet for our family and has us really reflecting on some of the outside influence

Get Thee Behind Me... Junk!
2008-05-16 08:25:00
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are smack dab in the middle of a huge “home make-over”. Now we aren’t having any major construction done or anything, just major rearranging, some touch up painting and a few other touch-ups here and there. I am also going through and getting rid of a TON of junk...er..stuff!Simplifying and cleanin’ out! Now, one of my favorite ways to purge (and oftent

Are you Livin' Your Dream?
2008-05-15 09:37:00
Erin Cottrell (the character Missie in the Hallmark movie, Love’s Unfolding Dream ) said this about her recent movie: “I think the best thing to take from this is that you do not have to choose between marriage and a career. That you can have both, and especially young women: you don’t have to give up your dreams in order to just be a wife and a mother, just go and live yourself. Because the

There was an Old Woman...
2008-05-06 13:32:00
There was an old woman, Who lived in a shoe; She had so many children,She didn't know what to do…Ok, so I’m not old -mid-thirties, several gray hairs - but NOT old. While I do have lots of little rugrats by today’s standards, I don’t feel like I don’t know what to do. However, I do sometimes feel like we live in a shoe; size "too small"! No complaining though, because I am so very gratef

They Grow Up So Fast!
2008-04-19 21:56:00
My oldest was using the camera to make some home video of he and his brothers version of "Star Wars". Too fun watching them go at it! He stopped and took of picture of the baby and I and then held up the picture of he and I. I looked at both and my heart just about stopped seeing how old Ryan looks now. Just yesterday, it seems, he was the baby. He is rapidly becoming a young man and way too fast

Saying Goodbye to a Good Friend
2008-04-17 18:14:00
For 12 years "Blanket" has been a faithful companion to my oldest. It was given to him at birth by the pastors wife at the church that we were ministering at in Iowa. Ryan has slept with this blanket pert near every day of his life. The old friend has been snuggled with, sneezed on, washed, thrown up on, washed, cried on, giggled in, tossed around, used as a tent, washed aided a super hero in fly

I am done with Oprah
2008-04-17 12:53:00
Not that I ever watched her that much, but on occassion I would switch her on while nursing or when I was down and out with morning sickness. Not anymore. I think I can find better things to occupy my time with, especially in light of this video I just ran across on a fellow bloggers site:-and-christianity-on-oprah-is.htmlIt is sad really... it breaks my heart that so many people could be swayed

Fourteen Years Ago
2008-04-15 21:29:00
Fourteen years ago today, I said "I do" to my best friend. I never would have dreamed back then the road that the Lord would take us down in the upcoming years. Had I known, honestly, I might have gotten off the train! I think that is probably why God doesn't reveal the future to us ahead of time - half the times we'd probably run away. And the other half we'd probably try and talk our way out of

2008-04-14 13:22:00
From time to time I get an email from a fellow sister in Christ asking for advice on certain topics like marriage, submission, mothering etc… I love these questions because this is truly what our role in the body of Christ is. We are to be women as described in Titus 2: “…the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good th

I love them dearly. I was so fortunate to be able to spend a small amount of time with them this past weekend when we celebrated the life of my Grandmother who has now gone to be with Jesus. You want fries with that too?
2008-06-03 10:44:00
The other day I am on my way back from Starbucks gettin' my fix. These days I'm finding myself needing injections of caffeine to keep me alert (that's a whole 'nother story - more on that later). So, I glance over to my right and I see a woman eating a taco of all things while driving. I mean she's got the whole head turn thing going so as not to loose anything as she takes a bite. And then, I kid
