Inspected Trend: Black on Black
2007-03-08 22:04:00
There is something sexy, slimming and daring when is black is mix with black. Many designers during Milan and Paris fashion week mixed it up with different textures, fabrics and accessories but still staying all black. What I love about black is that anyone, any shape or size can pull this color off.Below are my favorite looks off this season runways: Dsquared2, Versace, Givenchy, Burberry, HermesRunway pics courtesy of style.com

Inspected Trend: Wide Leg Pants
2007-03-07 03:24:00
One of the most refreshing looks to grace the runway this fashion week season was the wide leg pants. For most of the past year everything has been about the skinny jeans and everything tight. Marc Jacobs said it best," Sexy doesn't have to mean a pair of tight pants or a low cut dress. I think it's very beautiful and much more interesting to see a girl body through a big transparent sort of voluminous pant then it is to see it in a tight knee length skirt, at the moment."The RunwayMatthew Williamson, Badgley Mischka, Marc by Marc JacobsThe Street Way Runway pics courtesy of style.comStreet way pic far right: stylediary.net, the rest I can't remember, sorry.Marc Jacobs quote courtesy of VideoFashion ep.45

"I Can't Believe I Was Speaking To Her!!!"
2007-03-03 03:08:00
Those were the words I uttered out my mouth when I watched the Dior Fall 2007 Fashion Show on Style.com and recognized a face that I thought looked familiar. In one of my NY fashion week coverage post I wrote: After the Tibi show I was sitting waiting for the Monique Lhuillier show to start when I ask the lady next to me was she waiting for the show to start she she yes and we started to have a conversation. Anyway turns out to be that she is a Fashion Director at a store in Canada. She asked me did I see the Tibi show and we started talking about that. She said that majority the collection she would use it for her store because it had really great wearable dresses and coats. The lady was really nice she asked what so far was my favorite show I saw I said the Matthew William show and then I said the Marc Jacobs show. That Fashion Director for that store in Canada was Barbara Atkin for Holt Renfrew. That's right who would have known that I was speaking to very well respected person in t

Can Designers Go "BIG"?
2007-02-28 21:02:00
I am a size 12 and don't consider myself a "big" however to the fashion world a size 12 is way off the chart. According to the censuses a size 12 is the average woman size here is America. However for the average high fashion deisgner I believe a person my size is more challenging then a 5'9 size 0 model or actress. Case in point Jennifer Hudson Oscar De La Renta gown she wore for the Oscars. Lets face it the dress was nothing spectular and that shiny bolero wasn't helping but that's a whole new post. Anyway Oscar De La Renta Fall 2007 Collection runway show was great with different textures, slim and loose silhouettes and his divinely designed evening gowns. Jennifer Hudson dress was a gorgeous color and the pockets was nice touch of surprise. The fit and flattering of the dress is what I was not to pleased with. I felt like the dress was made as a last minute decision with some simple fabric and the common design for a "big" woman which is gathering at the bust and long draping f

Life In a Fashion Struggle pt.2
2007-02-23 19:07:00
I guess my life in a fashion struggle seems to continue from the last time I went through it. However since I came back from Florida I have tried to get a retail job at the mall that is near where I am in NJ. I am not saying specificially which mall, but I went around this certain mall and asked in each store that I like if they were hiring surprisingly many stores were accepting applications. When I went into Forever21 the assistant manager told me to download the application from the website and bring into the store because they didn't have any paper applications on hand. I believe a week after that when I knew I was going back to the mall I filled out and downloaded the application from the website and brought into the store.A few days after actually I recieved a phone call from the store asking me to come in for a interview. I got to say I was really excited a store that I completely adore with clothes that I can actually afford put my application in consideration for an interview

Fall 2007 Fashion Week Round-up
2007-02-16 00:24:00
Well obviously what was the delay from the last post was that during fashion week walking in the city at 11 degrees I go ta very bad cold nearly flu/pneumonia. It was awful I was in the bed feeling weak and coughing like crazy. I still don't understand I was probably the most fully dressed girl under those tents, I mean I had a a thick coat, scraf, ear-muffs, gloves and majority of the time I had on a sweater with a few tanks for layering and I still go a cold. There was girls there basically wearing a shirts on their backs and they probably didn't get any kind of flu like symptoms like I had. It's not fair I try to protect myself from this frigid weather and still end up getting screwed.Okay to finish off Day 6 of Fashion Week:This was the day I was totally started to feel it. "it" as exhaustion and being extremely tried. That morning when I was trying to figure out what I was going to wear I just totally give up the notation of "looking chic" instead I wore a big black sweater and

NY Fashion Week Day 5 at the Bill Blass show
2007-02-07 17:12:00
Oh oh my, the Bill Blass show, I goto sit in the third row thanks Sofia Mindlin de Almeida from Allure magazine for not showing up. Anyway the Bill Blass show brought a lot of rich clientele to the show and the most coveted people in the magazine industry as well. The show was great the clothes was definitely what Bill Blass himself would've loved. The show had all of the top models there and the makeup was on point. The collection had a mixed of everything, oh how can I forget I was talking this this writer sitting right next to me from the New York Times and Life & Leisure about how great the bags were. I loved the big bag that was in croc-skin. Ok back to what I was saying the evening dresses with thin belt around the waist and there were coats in green, fuchsia and sky blue which I thought was fun to start to show with. The finale was absolutely lovely all the models came out in ravishly LBDs and all of the models looked like they were a having a great time. Front Row Watch-O

NY Fashion Week Day 5 at the Monique Lhuillier show
2007-02-07 16:56:00
I gained access to the Monique Lhuillier show, I was pretty excited about it because Monique make beautiful gowns. Even though there was some seats that needed to filled I decided to stand next to the aisle because I wanted the full look at the gowns and try to take some good photos. Monique said in the show program, "This season is all about industrial chic" and it definitely was with the touch of elegance. In the collection there was a lot silk chiffon mousseline, silk tulle and wool jersey with very intricate detail and the use of ostrich feathers was chic. Front Row Watch-Out: Hal Rubenstein was there and Vanessa Minnillo who made the photogs go absoutley crazy.

All the Rage at the Marc Jacobs Show
2007-02-07 16:18:00
As I was speaking with the Fashion Director from Canada we started to talk about the Marc Jacobs fashion show. Even though early in morning I watch the fashion show at Marc Jacobs website, she was actually there, can you say jealous. When I asked her, "How was it?" In one word she replied, "Beautiful." She also said the Marc Jacobs collection was her favorite by far in NY. It raised a questing in my head, does Marc really has an main aesthetic for his collection? No! One thing which I think why many people adore Marc is because he always keep people on their toes each season, because each season is so different from the one before. Who would have thought that same designer who redefined layering mixed with grunge for the Fall 2006 collection would have designed a collection so 1950's with clean lines and gorgeous coats. This coat is so lovely.

Early Morning at NY Fashion Week Day 5 the Tibi Show
2007-02-06 21:48:00
Today, very early today I attended the Tibi show designed by Amy Smilovic. The show started a 9 o'clock. I live in NJ so I basically I had to wake 3 hours before the show started also known as 6 o'clock. I arrived in NYC exactly has I remember 8:45, I then brilliantly hailed a cab right away during rush hour and arrived at the Tents at 9:04. When I went to the press desk a resilient pr girl smiled from ear to ear and ask me, "Last name?" When I told her my last name she gave me ticket for the standing room. So while I was waiting around the fountain, it dawn on me majority of these chicettes here are waiting for the Monique Lhuiller show; which is understandable for the fabulous clothes early in the morning. The Tibi show was really cute and wearable. I noticed in the Tibi runway show and other runway shows that designers are putting gloves with certain looks and I love that. Tibi collection was sort of a reminisce of the Great Gatsby. My favorite looks from the show was the deco dro

Give Kudos at Fashion Week
2007-02-06 02:38:00
I didn't attend any shows today I just rest and did a little shopping (fashion week will do that to you). However I would like to reflect on yesterday happenings at Byrant Park because I was there basically the whole day. I would like to give kudos to those fabulous gals even though it was 18 degrees and windy which felt even colder, those gals wore jersey dresses with opaque tight. Okay hear me out now with it being 18 degrees outside and windy opaque tights will not and can do it for me to keep warm, but hey, kudos. Better you than me.Anyone one that was in the lobby area for a good length of time probably saw this very queeny young guy wearing a leather jacket, blue ripped jeans and peep-toe heels. Yes honey he was wearing peep-toe heels. There was one situation I was sitting reading the Daily and a girl (I believe she was a buyer for Scoop, not sure) that was on phone saw the guy strutting his way across the lobby and she repeatedly said "Oh my God guy in heels, guy in heels." So

IN THE TENTS Day 3
2007-02-05 15:17:00
The Facehunter being interviewed by a writer, he looks smashing. One person I really adore and didn't mind going up to was Hilary Alexander from the London Telegraph, she was so nice. Patrick Macdonald, New York Doodle Dandy always looking sharp and ready at the Tents. Robert Verdi he also attend the Tuleh show I went to. Andre Leon Tally in all his fur glory.

Day 3 Terexov Fall 2007 Collection
2007-02-05 07:47:00
The main ingredient at the Terexov show was silk-velvet. Silk -velevt dresses and blazers and just regularly silk dress. My favorite look was a black cashmere shawl collar coat also a pearl silk satin zip back dress with front details and the amethyst slate silk jersey belt gown. Front Row Watch- Out: No heavy hitters here not that I noticed anyone.

Day 3 Matthew Williamson Fall 2007 Collection
2007-02-05 07:24:00
This collection by Matthew was everything I love. It had an explosion of color with inspirations from the 60's and 70's. It reminded me of a 60's city girl partying at Studio 54. There were loosey jersey dresses in rich purple, pink and green with the models sporting a disco-ball bracelet on their left hands. One memorable look was these extremely large wide leg pants that came out on the first model which I thought looked really glamourous and needed to be pulled with much confidence in the real world. Anyway there were coats and baby dolls dresses embellished with clear stones. In conclusion I love, loved it. Front Row Watch-Out: Well I don't have any pic because I was trying to save some room on my memory card for the next show I was attending. Anyway there was Rachel Zoe (I noticed her at the last minute), of course Andre Leon Tally, Anna Wintour, Lauren Ezersky, and more I really don't remember their names (shame on me :( However there was Jeanne from Fashion TV, Connie fro

Day 3 Tuleh Fall 2007 Collection
2007-02-05 06:59:00
The Tuleh show wasn't a show I got invited to but when I went to the PR desk they gave me and standing room ticket and when I went in the Promenade a sitter told me to fill up the fourth row so as I sat down and then I realized that were many seats needed to filled, literally. Regardless of that the Tuleh collection was everything conservative. Byran Bradley had many dress that were cut greatly on the body of the models. He also a whole lot of fur coats and jacket with fur trimmings. Also which was the lovely on the Tuleh runway was the dresses that were in cream and white esspecially the last model who came out in a wedding dress.Front Row Watch-Out: Well, Well I have to say my view of who was in the front row was good because the Voguettes sat together, Andre, Anna and Hamish (exactly in that order). (click on the pic to get the larger view)

NY Fashion Week Day 3
2007-02-05 05:59:00
Day 3 was a long day but good. My first show of the day was Twinkle by Wenlan. Wenlan is known for her "quirky scarves and unique sweaters" and that Exactly was seen on her runway presentation today handkitted scarves, berets and sweaters. With these lovely handknitted essentials in her collection she used that to do what many designers for the past few seasons have been doing which is layering. Many of my favorite looks were knitted sweaters over dresses pair with opaque burgundy tights and to top of was the knitted berets. Front Row Watch-Out: Because I arrive to the tents later then I wanted I really couldn't get a good look at the front row, however all I know is that Lauren Ezersky was there with all her gray hair fabulousness. Before the show begin.

My first show of the week... Cabbeen Men's Fall 2007 Collection
2007-02-04 04:45:00
Well I would have post pictures from the Cabbeen show but as soon as I was getting the in City I looked in my bag and I total forgot to bring my camera. So while I waiting in the standing room line I was just writing down some notes. Cabbeen, a young emerging chinese menswear designer debuted his Fall 2007 collection for the first time in New York City at the Tents. His show was held in the showroom venue, I believe it's the smallest of the venues of the Bryant Park Tent. So believe it when I mean the showroom was really like a room a small and congested room. Before the show started I looked around and they were a lot of people just waiting for the to see what the NY fashion week -virgin had coming down the runway. "He is such a big designer where he's from, why such a small room?" a lady in a cream colored belted trench asked her male friend standing next to her, his reply was, "He is just happy to be in New York". That's what it's really about at New York fashion week having th

John Bartlett Men's Fall 2007 Collection John Bartlett always does a great men's collection, great variation of blazers, suits and sweatersYeohlee The Yeohlee collection was nice the clothes seems simple but the struture of some of the pieces had a difficulty feel to it. However the collection was lovely.Marc BouwerI have to say last season Marc Bouwer didn't do it for me, but this collection was beautiful. He had beautiful evening gowns inite and creams with a few gowns in jewel-toned color. You will definitely see some of this gown on the red carpt for Oscar season.-I will be going to a fashion show tomorrow night and I'm pretty excited because it will be my first of six shows I will be attending this week, so I am really excited. Life In a Fashion Struggle
2007-02-02 01:24:00
Well, I really have to let this off my chest before NY Fashion Week officially begins tomorrow. The main reason that I came back home from my program was I wanted to be a dresser at a few shows this upcoming fashion week. While I was in Florida I even contacted design houses seeing if they needed assistants with dressers backstage. I know some fashion houses hire a company to supply dressers and help backstage, so when I did call I asked if they hire a company so I know what to do. Now what I am really frustated about is that some of the design houses of which I called who told me to fax over my resume to be a dresser in basically in recent hours revealed that they hire a company for their dressers. WTF why wasn't I told this basically a month ago when I called and fax over my resume and cover letter, you mean no one couldn't reply back telling they hire a company so I wouldn't have my hopes up thinking that I had a chance. Okay that is one situation the next is the other design hou

Quote for the Day...
2007-03-09 18:35:00
"Fashion is so perishable and if you have a thought even the night before that what you're doing is wrong and it already feels old or looks old you have to, you have to move heaven and earth. You have to kill yourself, you have to drive everyone around you crazy to get to exactly where it should be and as close as it can be to the right thing right before it goes out on the runway. So it's really right up to the last minute...it's fashion"-Tom Ford pic courtesy of askmen.com

Inspected Trend: Color Pop
2007-03-11 04:48:00
Versace, Lanvin, Matthew Williamson, Giles, Preen, Bruno PietersIt was wild to see many designers for the fall 2007 collection presentations to pop up their collection by having a few garments that were a brust of color. Fall season is usually a black/gray color season so it was really lovely when a designer a la Versace during the runway presentation showed looks of black and gray to turn it up and show a few looks with solid colors of blue, green and red (it was really eye popping on style.com). Then there was Matthew Williamson collection which majority of his collection was full with color and definitely one of my favorite this season. I just love when designers think outside of the box when it come to expectations for the season and give us looks that's literally are a delight for our eyes. Pics from style.com

This is ridiculous!!!
2007-03-20 18:38:00
It really is ridiculous that everyone it seems from nymag, to Fashionista and to the Jossip is curious about the mystery of ViewFromTheFourthRow blog. I mean come on people it is just a blog with words and opinions. I guess people in this fashion arena don't like to be criticized or some people feel that this supposedly "Conde Nast Fashion Editor " shouldn't have a blog at all. The question is why the fascination with this blog? Many people on the internet are real and sometimes fake of who they really are in the blogging world. Why do people need to dissect who this person claim to be? is it because she's talking about the fashion heavy hitters in the magazine world and a little glimpse in the life of her being a fashion editor is too good to be true that people just can't stomach it. What's funny is that this person behind this blog could just be a 18 year old boy trying to throw everyone in a loop with tales of attending a few fashion shows, who really knows? What be different
