I got a video by email last week titled "The girl who silenced the world". It said to make this video go around the world. I don't have the kind of courage this girl (Severn Suzuki) has nor am I capable of writing such a great speech nor do I want to forward it through email because no one reads forwards anymore. I found it on youtube as well so here you go.This video is from 1992. Sixteen years a

Today's the day. I wasn't sure how to start when I found all these on this ad site."The unofficial world record in holding your breath underwater Probably belongs to a prisoner in an Iraqi or Afghan prison. The prisoners are exposed to the so called "enhanced interrogation techniques" by american soldiers. These techniques include "near death drowning experiences" where the head of the victim is

Energizer Bunny arrested, charged with battery. - from some quote site.Apparently I have quite a few talented friends. What's more, they use that talent to create comic strips that are derogatory to certain superheroes whose sole aim is to save the world. For those of you who do not get this strip, contact the creator, Marsha. I can give you her phone number. Call her up at 3am.(If you can't see

Ads and the real girl
2008-05-12 08:26:00
For someone who quit advertising, I seem to follow them quite a bit. I found these that I like. Maybe I quit because I never got to make anything like these.I'm not too fond of ads that use profanity for the sake of using them to sound cool (A lot of the Indian ads entered for "coolness" awards seemed to use them a bit too much.), so this came as a pleasant change. This one isn't awesome or anythin

For those of you who read the Times paper on April 30th, you'd have read the story about the painter who raped and murdered a 3-year old girl. The paper gave some pretty gruesome details about the crime. I hate that this sort of thing happens. It's a baby, for crying out loud. How on earth would she have known what was happening to her? And then the coward kills her. The limits for most human ende

"Pushing Daisies" is my newest favourite show of the week. It's a brilliant blend of "Wonderfalls", "Psych" and "The Ghost Whisperer" with the right amounts of dark comedy, goofiness and romance and all the characters are adorable. It's on at 10pm on Wednesdays on Zee Cafe. Don't miss. For those of you who didn't catch the pilot episode, Ned's special power is that if he touches a dead person, they

Midweek crisis #2

After five years of good bumps, I am finally selling my Palio. We will most likely buy that awful looking Swift. It seems to be extremely popular for a big-bottomed car (you'd think that with such a big butt, there'd be lots of boot space). Then again, our roads are filled with Wagon Rs and Santros. If we had any taste in cars, we'd have banned the Qualis ages ago. The problem is that we just don't

I borrowed this from a blog I came across last week. It was so much fun doing this questionnaire. I did it twice (and I'll probably do it a few more times as I keep updating my song list) so I'll put down all the answers I got.The rules: Play your ipod or media player in shuffle mode and enter each song title as the answer to each of these questions."If someone says 'Is this okay?', you say?"

From the cradle to the grave
2008-04-27 23:10:00
A couple of months ago, I was browsing at the WOC bookstore and there was this really thin, oldish anglo-indian lady browsing. She was dressed well, just like how most of them do, in a frock and carrying a handbag. Then she walked near me and I thought she wanted to pass through so I moved and she starts talking to me."Can you help me, ma? My husband died recently and I have nothing. I came this

BIG rock concert coming to Chennai this May 17th. If you're into 70's/80's rock, be there.I don't have any of Petra's albums except for one ultimate compilation but I'm friends with some of their "fans" (understatement, that) and I know that missing this will be a big no no.For a glimpse of Petra's music, check this out.

I stumbled upon these and thought they were quite funny (if one can take them lightly). The site had cartoons of everything and anything political - so I updated myself on current affairs.I'm not emo enough to create one of those cartoons though.I love the expression on the guy's face. This cartoon reminds me of a video that a friend sent me. The dummy is so cute (You can also check out "Jingle B

I know I've been awful at responding to all the participation in my blog so I thought I'd take the time to thank all the people who visit my blog and take the time to write something relevant and meaningful and have made my dream of having 50 comments a day come true. As a token of my appreciation, I'd like to put up a couple of Pearls comic strips. ps - I've already put up one of them before but

I've been waiting for this movie since 1994. It looks as daring as my pork shop idea. Almost. For all I know, it probably will not run here because it will branded as another one of those "boring documentaries".Anyway, I thought I'd spend a couple of minutes promoting this in hopes that it will be talked about enough to come out as dvd here.

Revenge of the bimbos
2008-04-08 23:37:00
My family home had this guard dog named Bimbo. We were too young to know what "Bimbo" meant. We just figured we needed something different from Bingo (of the farmer's dog B-I-N-G-O fame) and this rhymed. Then someone told us that it had a negative meaning attached to it. Yeah well, Bimbo wasn't a very popular dog anyway. I wonder if the name had anything to do with his attitude.By the way, I've be

Okay, so I discovered this weird tab inside my yahoo mail which turned out to be some sort of chat window and a friend of mine was attempting to have a conversation with me. When it comes to communication, I've been so out of it, that it took me a while to process what was happening and respond. Besides, I've been paranoid about anything I do on the computer lately because we've been having some v

I went home for the weekend just to recharge a bit. It was needed. As usual, I made them take me to the mountains the day I reached. I had to utilise my time there to the maximum. It was lovely as always. Except for the giant moth that kept attacking me. We saw an Indian Hornbill, Gaur (Indian Bison) and probably Sambar which we see always so is about as exciting as seeing a squirrel. I decided to

Some of the videos in this post may be unsuitable for minors. - Disclaimer on youtube for those videos. Personality is only skin deep.Makes sense in some twisted way, doesn't it? It's quite normal for most of us to hide who we truly are. I think I got my fairy tales mixed up. Wasn't it a needle from a spinning wheel that caused the deep slumber?Anyway, does anyone remember this one promo they used in Cartoon Network with this dog singing "home of cartoon stars" in the tune of "Figaro"? I loved that one. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on youtube (I hope someone puts it up someday) but I found this video and I'd like to add Jonny

Quarterlife crisis - symptom #1

"Right now I just want to bite on a poisoned apple and fall into a long, deep slumber... maybe until the prince finds me".Life and its stupid yo-yo pattern. There are moments when everything you do or are part of, kind of outruns you and crosses the enough line. All of a sudden, it all becomes a bit overwhelming and hard to handle. Enough with the drama already. At times like this, sayings like "I

We watched "Enchanted" this weekend. It was such an adorable (cheesy yet lovable) movie. It makes you want to prance, twirl and sing on the way out of the cinema. I love these songs from the movie.A friend sent this to me and I really really hope for mankind's sake that it was staged.Another friend sent this to our women's group. It's really quite clever. You know, at the end of the day nothing can beat what man didn't make.Have you ever looked at clouds from an airplane window and wanted to run around and play on them? The Care Bears gave us such unreasonable and high hopes.I just loved watching the sunset from the plane - imagine how it would look from the cockpit. I bet such views make the pilot's day worthwhile everyday.

So, I was in Jaipur last week. It's an interesting place to visit - as colourful as India is portrayed in all Nat Geo/ Discovery channel shows.I liked the trip to Ranthanbhore wildlife reserve better even though I froze my face off during one of the jeep trips and caught a bad cold. We saw a couple of tigers which was what we went for. This was in one of those canter rides and we had the misfortun

We have a grim situation on our hands. It is my theory that some people have been abducted and had their brains replaced with substances far less conductive of neural signals (or maybe they've replaced animal testing with human testing), and then sent back to live among us and lead "normal" live. And all these "people" inevitably pick the seats around mine at movie theatres. One of the symptoms of

I was in Kodi last week for my cousin's high school graduation. She was the only student with parents, sibling, grandparent, uncle, aunt and cousins present. It might have been embarrassing if we cared. It was a lot of fun. I reached Madurai early Friday morning and then hitched a ride with my uncle, aunt and cousin to Kodi. We had about 2 hours to make it in time for the event and we had to stop

My first blogger meet!

Yes, I went for a blogger meet (The Chennai blogger meet on the 8th organised by Indiblogger). Yes, I had fun. No, I didn't give out too many personal details or my credit card numbers to these people who you're only supposed to know online (my dad was super worried that a fate worse than death will befall me because of the blog). Anyway, it was nice to meet people and know that they have normal
