Effective Small Business Management
2007-05-21 12:19:37
Small Business es are popping up like nobody’s business. Some grow through the decades to become multinational companies, while others go through a phase of glory but wind up in disasters. What’s the difference between an effective small business that has potential for growth and an ineffective one that is destined to bring the stakeholders involved a nightmarish experience? After having worked in my company for a period of time and having meetings with different people, I think I can come up with a fairly good answer. Of course, I’m not suggesting that you read what I have to say and take it as a fact. You may like a particular point I made and dislike another. Whatever it is, feel free to leave your thoughts after reading my post and we can all share our knowledge effectively. An Effective Small Business Has Motivated Staff In a small business, it’s usually the staff that brings the company to new heights. For new business startups, there are not many employees

Favoritism In The Workplace
2007-05-24 06:54:04
This post is not going to be about favoritism on a personal level, based on whether the boss likes your character or not. Instead, I intend to focus on a general tendency for employers to show favoritism towards sales and marketing staff. The reason is obvious, since Salesmen and Marketers are tasked with the honorable role of bringing in the money. Sometimes, other employees in the company feel very unmotivated because the sales people keep on closing sales and earning large commissions, while the other employees get more work as sales increase without any extra pay. Working in an office has exposed me to the world of office politics and I find it extremely interesting to observe my colleagues’ behavior. I noticed a recent increase in dissatisfaction in my workplace among administration staff and decided that for the project I’m working on, I want to help the company minimize such problems. Therefore, I spoke up regarding the possible awarding of commissions to people help

The Future of Marketing - Chameleon Marketing
2007-05-23 13:15:15
I was reading through tons of Internet Marketing materials and went into a dream state with a powerful paraliminal. In my dream, I came up with this concept of Chameleon Marketing and I believe that the top marketers of the future will adopt the characteristics of a chameleon. Butterfly Marketing has taken the internet by storm and it’s about how making tiny changes in your systems can make visitors come back with more visitors through word of mouth. I truly admire the concept of Butterfly Marketing, because concepts of marketing have been articulated through a beautiful existence. I’m trying to do the same here, although with, what I personally feel, quite an ugly creature. Once again, before I carry on with this post, remember my blog: First Million Challenge and feel free to get your friends to visit my blog. Sorry for the constant self-promotion, but I got to keep reminding you of my blog or you will not remember to come back. When my blog hits 10,000 visitors e

Mark Joyner And Me!
2007-05-27 12:59:38
Hey guys, if you don’t like any of my posts, you got to at least check this out! Check out how wide my smile is while taking a photo with the Internet Marketer I respect most currently. I only respected two Internet Marketers to such degree of excitement, but the other one is, for the lack of a better word, gone. As some of you might know, today is my second day at World Internet Mega Summit, a 4 days seminar on Internet Marketing held in Sunny Singapore. However, you most probably did not know that 90% of the reason I attend this seminar is because of Mark Joyner, to catch him face-to-face. Boy, was I glad I did. Anyway, it was not easy for most attendees to take a photograph with Mark Joyner… I repeat… not easy. In the first day of the seminar, there were 4 breaks in between and in between each break, I looked around EVERYWHERE, but could not catch a trace of Mark Joyner. Either I was really unlucky and Mark Joyner happened to be moving around like I am or he ju

Blog Redesign In Progress
2007-05-31 11:54:42
This blog is currently being redesigned by me and might be quite unstable for a period of time. The blog layout is more or less settled, but the colors and tiny touchups are still not decided yet. Please help to leave your comments on how I can make this blog look and feel better too. I thank you in advance for any help that you may contribute to help improve this blog.

World Internet Summit - Photos
2007-05-29 12:11:33
Here are some photos I snapped at World Internet Summit . I managed to get another copy of the photograph I took with Mark Joyner, which has much better quality. I got this photograph from Alvin Phang, who runs a blog, GatherSuccess. He’s doing quite a bit of interesting things at the moment and his blog has quite a lot of quality content. I did saw him quite a few times at the Summit, but I kept on forgetting to take a photo with him when I saw him. However, I did talk to a few other people I have never knew before the Seminar and even took photographs with them. I won’t post these photos, just in case they do not want their photos to be posted on a blog. Anyway, I feel that I have began to change bit by bit. In the first day of seminar, I chatted with some people, but these people were the ones that approached me. I wasn’t proactive in talking to people and was extremely shy. In the last day of the seminar, I did approach some people and had some pretty nice conversa

Asking For Professional Reviews
2007-06-03 02:40:29
I’m pretty lost as to how I can further improve my blog. I know the colors seem a bit dull, but I tried changing colors and it just seems to look even worse each time. Being so lost, I decided to try to solicit for comments. The first thing I tried was to ask for [...]

Examination Results Release
2007-06-08 02:24:12
Ever tried waiting so anxiously for your exam results that you couldn’t fall asleep and just keep refreshing the webpage every second to see if your results have been posted? Well… I’m at the other end of the extreme this semester, refusing to login and check my results. When I was first told that the [...]

Powerpuff Girls vs Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
2007-06-07 09:00:17
This is my blog's new design and I shouldn't be making any big changes to the design in the near future. Anyway, I will be packing up for a vacation to Hong Kong these few days, getting ready to fly on Sunday. This blog won't have any updates for a period of time, so I'm posting something cool. It's a short video I recorded during the event, 'PowerPuffy Palooza Battle of the Bands ‘Live’ Show cum Meet & Greet'. The stars featured are powerpuff girls and Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi. They are pretty adorable and entertaining, but too bad the video is taken with my handphone, so it doesn't have very good quality. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Tracking Successful Internet Marketers
2007-06-15 08:44:01
I ended my Hong Kong trip two days and a half days early, so I’m now back with a new hobby. Ever typed the names of people into Google just to see what results would come out? Well, I’m punching names like Ewen Chia, Corey Rudl and Mark Joyner just to see what gems I [...]

Agloco’s Viewbar Launch
2007-06-20 21:48:36
In February, I blogged about Agloco, a revenue sharing ‘get paid to surf’ network. I was pretty interested in their idea at that time and published this post “Agloco Might Help Us Make Money“. Now… few months down the road, their viewbar is finally launched. Without hesitation, I downloaded the viewbar and installed it. However, I was [...]

Marketing Is My Passion
2007-06-26 13:36:38
Have you ever had a sudden strong feeling about something? Well… I just had one such moment yesterday. It was 3AM on Monday that I suddenly felt so strongly towards my career path… the realization that I should totally immerse myself in Marketing . It all happened when I was writing my resume as an assignment for a module. [...]

Blogs That I Browse
2007-06-28 23:13:03
Maybe my writing is interesting, maybe not… but whatever it is, it should be more interesting to read up many blogs rather than stay at one blog. I also know that even if I am the most interesting writer on planet Earth, (which sad to say so… I’m not yet) you will ultimately surf away [...]

Mutual Funds VS Exchange Traded Funds
2007-07-01 08:49:55
I have been seeing many posters on Exchange d Traded Funds (ETFs) recently and they are basically promoting ETFs as having superior performance compared to Mutual Funds. Of course, there are many people who would look at these posters and shout “Oh! It’s SGX who puts up these posters, they got to be right since they [...]

Henderson European Property Securities
2007-07-05 12:48:57
I just looked through my Mutual Funds portfolio and noticed something interesting. Out of seven funds that I am holding, only one has not turned a profit yet. It is even more interesting as I dug out my previous posts and noticed that I once blogged that this fund may be my worst performing fund. [...]

Smile More
2007-07-04 01:49:12
I recall that in my younger days, (I’m still young now) I used to hate smiling. I put up a stuck-up face everyday thinking that my smiles look incredibly ugly. Therefore, I was perceived as being fierce and hostile. The cold expressions I made kept me from making lots of friends that I could have made. As I [...]

Computer Hijacked By Adware
2007-07-10 10:49:52
This post is going to be short. I just felt that adware, spyware and keyloggers are very intrusive, since my computer was recently hit. Unfortunately, I did a full scan with 6 different software and it still went undetected. To make matters worse, the ads are mostly showing erm... 'You know what'. Someone help me please...

Having Money Is Important
2007-07-08 01:05:28
Before you go on to scream at me as being materialistic, stop and think for a few moments. Sure, there may be poor and happy people, as well as, rich and unhappy people. However, I am not trying to equate happiness to wealth in this post. It is almost impossible to quantify happiness in the [...]

Sold Off All My Mutual Funds
2007-07-18 11:07:04
Two days ago, I finally decided to sell off all my mutual fund holdings. The decision was made after a few days of internal struggling and I decided that it is not worth keeping the funds emotionally. I still do not know the deal prices that the funds will get sold at, but I would guess that [...]

Search Engine Optimization Made Easy
2007-07-22 13:44:14
Every internet marketer is interested in targeted traffic and where can you find the most targeted traffic? Well… Search engines are arguably the best form of targeted traffic, provided that proper keywords are used to find your site. For example, if your website is about ’search engine optimization’, you will want people to find your site by [...]

Free Traffic Building Methods
2007-07-27 00:13:05
As promised in my last post, I will be discussing the free traffic building methods that I have used and got some traffic for me. These free traffic building methods normally requires you to spend quite a lot of time to build up and depending upon the stickiness of your website, the free traffic may [...]

The Irony of High Standards
2007-07-28 14:46:38
I have just passed two of my tests to become an insurance agent and I think back to all my previous exam and test experiences. Focusing on just these two recent papers though, I have to say I did not do well in the mock papers the night before I took the actual papers. Therefore, I told [...]

Getting out of my comfort zone
2007-07-31 12:54:41
This week, I am attending trainings in order to be authorised in selling insurance products. The training session lasts from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM and it would be quite relaxed if that was the only thing I had to do. However, I had to finish up some work at my ex-employment and the few hours of commute [...]

2007-08-10 13:44:13
Today’s gonna be the first day that I start work as a Financial Adviser. To be precise, I will be taking part in my first road show in nine and a half hours time. My feelings are mixed for a few good reasons, mainly because I’m excited, yet fearful at the same time. I attribute [...]

Repurchased Mutual Funds Again
2007-08-25 14:33:45
As some of you may have noticed, I sold away my mutual funds just before the recent correction. While many people were throwing insults at their brokers, I was quietly breathing a strong sigh of relief. Then, my friends started asking me about my rationale for dumping all my mutual fund holdings, since I appeared [...]

Fed Announcement Only Minutes Away
2007-09-18 13:16:28
I just can’t sleep tonight… not just yet… The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is being held as I’m typing. This meeting may play an important role as to how stocks will perform over the next few weeks. Everyone is expecting a 25 basis point cut, which is equilvalent to 0.25%. Anyway, I belong to [...]

Some Updates in My Life
2007-09-10 04:51:33
After getting involved as a Financial adviser and starting school, this is the first time I took a test. As expected, I did not really do well in the test, but slightly better than I expected, mainly because I expected to get 0. Anyway, I am dying for some scolding recently, because I [...]
