DeskMutations.com
2007-03-03 15:00:00
If you're a wallpaper or art fanatic like me, check out www.DeskMutations.com for a selection of the better artwork from www.deviantArt.com. Of course, you can always go to deviantArt and check out the newest art everyday, but I find it less time-consuming to trawl through the massive amounts of new art released on deviantArt. Besides, I quite like the artwork that DeskMutations recommends, like the ones below:    Clockwise from top left: Cars - ralphbalena, The Inner You 2 Blue 2 - andreim, Mistubishi Evo VII Remake - donbenni and Vette - circlegreen. For those who are interested in desktop customization, DeskMutations also hosts files like boot screens, cursors and themes. Can't really recommend anything because I like my desktop clean and simple.

Favourite Illustrators of Warhammer 40,000 (III) - Karl Kopinski
2007-02-28 10:30:00
Karl Kopinski's official website at www.karlkopinski.com showcases some of his works for the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer universes. Some of his more well-known artwork for Warhammer 40,000 include the cover art for Codex Imperial Guard and Codex Catachans as well as the cover art for the Warhammer 40,000 : Dawn of War Winter Assault expansion pack and Fire Warrior games.I like the way he draws the Imperial Guard in the same way they are depicted in the Warhammer 40,000, as determined and stubborn defenders of the Imperium of Man while highlighting the fact that each Guardsman is only human with real emotions like anger, fear and desperation.    © Karl KopinskiOther favourite illustrators:(I) - Adrian Smith(II) - Neil Roberts

Korean MMORPG Wallpapers (I) - Soul of the Ultimate Nation
2007-02-24 12:30:00
Soul of the Ultimate Nation is a Korean MMMORPG by Webzen. Official English site is at Webzen but I found their Korean site to have more stuff like concept art here and wallpapers here.If you're really interested in the game itself, check out Soul of the Ultimate Nation @ Gameamp for more information. It appears to be in beta for Korean players currently. The concept art for this game looks very good, especially the hulking armor-clad death knights. I also like the highly stylized character designs for the undead enemies too - very different from most other undead character designs which usually portray undead as mindless walking dead.          © WebzenOther Korean MMORPG wallpapers: (II) - Dragon Raja

Freeware Game Reviews (II) - Gamehippo.com
2007-02-17 04:00:00
GameHippo.com has one of the largest number of freeware game reviews on the Net.Due to the large number of games reviewed and that screenshots are displayed in a separate popup window, it takes a while to browse through the list of reviewed games, making it pretty hard to separate the really good ones from the multitude of average games. If you take the time to browse through their archive of reviews, you can definitely find some freeware gems there. For a quick freeware game fix, you can try the section where each reviewer showcases his/her top ten games (here) as well as another section where the top 20 user-rated games are displayed (here). The site hasn't been updated in quite a while but the review archive is enough for any new visitor to peruse for a long time :)Other freeware game review sites :(I) - RunTime Entertainment

Favourite Illustrators of Warhammer 40,000 (I) - Adrian Smith
2007-02-14 17:00:00
If you're a fan of the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 universes, you've probably heard of the illustrator Adrian Smith . His artwork for the Warhammer universes usually depict highly detailed and life-like characters or ferocious and gritty battle scenes with intricate details. Some of my favourite Warhammer 40,000 artwork done by Adrian include the four Chaos Space Marines for each of the Chaos gods, The Battle for Armageddon, Horus vs The Emperor as well as the cover art for the Soul Drinkers novels by Black Library. His artwork for Sabertooth's Warhammer 40000-themed collective card game is also pretty impressive too.        © Adrian SmithYou can view larger versions of his artwork as well as purchase prints of his artwork at his own website at www.adriansmith.co.uk which also contains previews of his work for other projects.Other favourite illustrators:(II) - Neil Roberts(III) - Karl Kopinski

RunTime Entertainment is currently one of my favourite freeware game review sites out there on the net. Their review section here is different from other sites because only games that receive a favourable review are listed on the site. Each page is reviewed in a single page with screenshots and a short concise review so you can quickly decide whether a particular game is worth your time.Quite regularly updated so do take a look if you love freeware games.Other freeware game review sites:(II) - Gamehippo.comread more | digg story

Warhammer 40,000 Horus Heresy Wallpapers
2007-02-07 04:44:00
4 wallpapers based on the cover artwork of the series of Horus Heresy novels by Black Library, the publishing arm of Games Workshop. Download the wallpapers here. The top left wallpaper by Philip Sibbering for Horus Rising and the top right wallpaper by Neil Roberts for False Gods are more epic in scale whereas the bottom wallpapers for Galaxy in Flames (bottom left) and Flight of the Eisenstein (bottom right) also by Neil Roberts allows a more close-up look of the individual space marines of the Horus Heresy era.    © Games WorkshopMy favourite one has to be the Galaxy in Flames one depicting a clash between loyalist Death Guard space marines against the traitor elements of the Sons of Horus (and/or Iron Warriors. Not too sure about the identity of the traitor marines though).

Yamaha Motorcycles Papercraft
2007-02-18 03:35:00
Today is Lunar New Year in SG and so this will be the last post for the upcoming holidays. It's time to take a break from the Internet this 3 days until 21 February.Yamaha Motors Co (yes, the company that produces motorcycles like the MotoGP YZR-M1 below) has created the papercraft models of some of their motorcycles, rare animals of the world and festive ornaments for download. © YamahaThe motorcycle models are more complex and look more realistic than the animal models and there is also currently an ultra-realistic Yamaha MT-01 model in development here. (Incomplete as not all the parts are available for download yet.)All papercraft models are available as free PDF downloads on Yamaha Motors Japan site. Ghost Rider - The Video Game Wallpaper
2007-02-16 03:39:00
Just watched the movie in SG two days ago, and visited the official site at www.sonypictures.com to download wallpapers for Ghost Rider (Sorry Sony, but I want more wallpapers of Mr Ghost Rider , not Nicholas Cage or Eva Mendes, please). So I searched the web and found the Ghost Rider tie-in game developed by Climax and to be published by 2K Games for PS2, PSP and GBA (No PC version :( ) at www.2kgames.com. At least they had better wallpapers of Ghost Rider and his Hellcycle :)© 2K Games

Korean MMORPG Wallpapers (II) - Dragon Raja
2007-02-28 10:15:00
Dragon Raja is a Korean MMORPG by Barunson Interactive. The character designs are a nice departure from the usual cutesy anime designs popular in Korean MMORPG like Ragnarok Online. The concept art for the different classes in this game look tougher and more rugged than the generic handsome/pretty characters in other games.      © Barunson Interactive12 Official wallpapers (up to 1024 x 768) are available at www.dr2.co.kr. Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress
2007-03-12 03:46:00
Been playing (at least trying to figure out what I'm doing) in this incredibly ambitious simulation of a dwarf fortress by Tarn Adams of Bay 12 Games. First read about this unique game in the Jan 2007 issue of PC Gamer Malaysia. You start with a band of seven dwarves to build an outpost. Assign your dwarves tasks and watch over their needs like lodging and food and raw materials to expand your settlement. Create new equipment and weapons to advance your settlement into a real fortress with traps, workshops and fortifications - I sure hope my outpost will reach that stage eventually :)The overall gameplay seems like a very detailed combination of Settlers II's economy and Dungeon Keeper's exploration and expansion. It takes time to get into the game (especially for players not used to rougelikes as the interface entirely keyboard driven) but my opinion is that this game will really pay off for players who put enough time into the game. The manual included in the game is pretty useful
