DeskMutations.com 2007-03-03 15:00:00 If you're a wallpaper or art fanatic like me, check out www.DeskMutations.com for a selection of the better artwork from www.deviantArt.com. Of course, you can always go to deviantArt and check out the newest art everyday, but I find it less time-consuming to trawl through the massive amounts of new art released on deviantArt. Besides, I quite like the artwork that DeskMutations recommends, like the ones below: Clockwise from top left: Cars - ralphbalena, The Inner You 2 Blue 2 - andreim, Mistubishi Evo VII Remake - donbenni and Vette - circlegreen. For those who are interested in desktop customization, DeskMutations also hosts files like boot screens, cursors and themes. Can't really recommend anything because I like my desktop clean and simple.

Freeware Game Reviews (II) - Gamehippo.com 2007-02-17 04:00:00 GameHippo.com has one of the largest number of freeware game reviews on the Net.Due to the large number of games reviewed and that screenshots are displayed in a separate popup window, it takes a while to browse through the list of reviewed games, making it pretty hard to separate the really good ones from the multitude of average games. If you take the time to browse through their archive of reviews, you can definitely find some freeware gems there. For a quick freeware game fix, you can try the section where each reviewer showcases his/her top ten games (here) as well as another section where the top 20 user-rated games are displayed (here). The site hasn't been updated in quite a while but the review archive is enough for any new visitor to peruse for a long time :)Other freeware game review sites :(I) - RunTime Entertainment Read more:Freeware
Freeware Game Reviews (I) - RunTime Entertainment 2007-02-14 10:48:00 RunTime Entertainment
is currently one of my favourite freeware game review sites out there on the net. Their review section here is different from other sites because only games that receive a favourable review are listed on the site. Each page is reviewed in a single page with screenshots and a short concise review so you can quickly decide whether a particular game is worth your time.Quite regularly updated so do take a look if you love freeware games.Other freeware game review sites:(II) - Gamehippo.comread more | digg story Read more:Freeware

Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress 2007-03-12 03:46:00 Been playing (at least trying to figure out what I'm doing) in this incredibly ambitious simulation of a dwarf fortress by Tarn Adams of Bay 12 Games. First read about this unique game in the Jan 2007 issue of PC Gamer Malaysia. You start with a band of seven dwarves to build an outpost. Assign your dwarves tasks and watch over their needs like lodging and food and raw materials to expand your settlement. Create new equipment and weapons to advance your settlement into a real fortress with traps, workshops and fortifications - I sure hope my outpost will reach that stage eventually :)The overall gameplay seems like a very detailed combination of Settlers II's economy and Dungeon Keeper's exploration and expansion. It takes time to get into the game (especially for players not used to rougelikes as the interface entirely keyboard driven) but my opinion is that this game will really pay off for players who put enough time into the game. The manual included in the game is pretty useful Read more:Blood
