Narcissus (Daffodil) 2007-03-02 17:49:00 Ours are yellow petals and orange trumpets. Single flowers on each stem.We grow them in pots and directly in the soil.In 2007 they started flowering earlier than last year. It’s probably because of the warm winter we had.Here some photos of our beautiful Narcissus

Crocus 2007-03-05 18:39:00 Ours are purple.We planted them in autumn 2005.They flowered in spring 2006.We left them in situ to naturalize normally.They flowered again in February 2007. And now they have more corms.Hoping for even more next year :)

Photinia 2007-04-16 15:44:00 We have got one Red Robin. We planted it in 2005.In Feb-March new leaves came out because it was warm. But end of the March we had a few frosty nights and damaged the growth. As seen in the pic.

Pieris 2007-04-16 15:44:00 We have got two different kinds of Pieris. One is variegated with white and green leaves. And another is forest flame, with bright red leaves in the spring. We started to grow them in tubs as quite small plants, in 2005 and 2006. When they became too big for pots, we planted them in the garden. .

Mahonia 2007-04-30 21:14:00 We planted it in 2005. Leaves grow but it didn’t flower. During the hot summer 2006 it lost all its leaves. We could see this spring that the buds were growing yet top was rotting. So in autumn 2006 we decided to cut down to the best bud. It was 2.5 feet ( 75 cm) and after cut it’s about less than 1 foot ( about 25cm).In March 2007 we noticed that new leaves were appearing. .

Although gardeners recommend that clematis should be cut hard back each year we left it to flourish and it’s very happy. In 2007 it started to flower in second week of April. And it has produced even more flowers than last year. .

Solanum Glasnevin ( solanum crispum ) or ( Chilean potato tree ) or ( Chilean potato vine ) or ( Potato vine ) 2007-05-20 12:39:00 Native to Chile and Peru ( Andes) We have got two of them. It’s interesting to have potato tree in garden. Here I put the bigger one’s photo. We planted it end of summer 2005. It had many stems and shoots and was about 40 inches (100cm) tall. It only managed a few flowers in 2006. But it grew very fast. We had to prune some stems and we are training it against the wall. This year it has got millions flowers and it’s over 80 inches (200cm). The smaller one is about 40 inches (100cm) and has it flowered for first time in May 2007. . . Read more:Chilean

Spinach 2007-05-28 08:59:00 We put spinach seeds in pots in the greenhouse at the and of March. After 3 weeks in the greenhouse we put them outside. There are too many cats walking around and also big black birds and starlings digging the fresh soil, so we protected them with netting. All of them look good and are growing very well. . Californian Lilac 2007-05-28 08:59:00 Native to North AmericaThis lovely blue tree is one the first plants we put in our garden (2004). It was about 21 inches (55cm) high and has grown rapidly since and now it’s over 7ft (200cm) . It needed support from the wind so we put a stake to support the main stem. We pruned it slightly in 2006. This year it flowered in the first week of May. It’s evergreen. . .
Snowmound ( Spiraea nipponica ) 2007-05-27 10:07:00 Native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere and Eastern Asia This is one of the first plants we put in our garden in 2004. It was about 12 inches (30sm) high and has grown rapidly since and now it’s about 57 inches (145cm). It has got beautiful white flowers like snow. We didn’t prune it. This year it had leaves at the end of April and flowered in May. It’s an easy plant to grow and unfussy about soil. .
