Perversion in America
2008-05-03 23:15:00
I saw a movie today called “The Take” with John Leguizamo and Rosie Perez and overall the movie is a must see and not a waste of your money. The plot was original and realistic because it portrayed the realism of America n urban life; where you see your average minority working in some low paying job; living in an environment where many minorities think that the only way out of their impoverish situation is to steal; but of course all immoral acts brings consequences, and this movie delivered that outcome well. The acting was good and believable. Kudos to Rosie Perez and John Leguizamo! The direction was above average and the movie paced well; but the only thing that was a disturbance was the sex scene between Rosie and John which was very much unnecessary. The movie industry seems to

A Child Gone Wild

Here's another classic example of what happens when a parent doesn't take firm action against their child. Let's face it, we're in an age when the average American child is spoiled - from amusement parks and video games to high priced toys, movies and then constant giving in to their whims for Burger King and McDonalds. If we refer to the Webster Dictionary, we would find that the definition of spoiled is as follows: To do harm to the character, nature, or attitude of by oversolicitude, overindulgence, or excessive praise. So how can there be any wonder to why kids are reduced to hitting their parents when suddenly the parents want to deprive their kids of enjoyment because their kids refuse to abide by their rules? How can parents fall into the trap of believing that because of their child'

Video Games & Kids

So my sister and I are in constant debate as to whether video games are a contributing cause to ADHD in children. You see at an early age of 4 years old, she would allow her son to play video games on a Game Boy that was nothing more than 6 inches long with a screen smaller than my palm. The Game Boy was a necessity for her as it was a way of keeping him distracted while she sat in the beauty salon getting her weekend hair treatments. Over a course of two years preceding his first exposure to the Game Boy, he was diagnosed by his eye doctor as being near and far sighted, and he was reported by many teachers in pre-school and Kindergarten that he had symptoms of ADHD (not being able to sit still in class, blurting out the answers to questions before being called on by the teacher, hitting

Toddlers Slappin' Mommas

One of my girlfriends is going through a dilemma. Her 2 year old son has suddenly stepped into the phase of hitting. He's hitting her all the time, especially in public places which is quite embarrassing; and the odd thing about all of this is that he doesn't hit his father. I've read of numerous people going through the same ordeals and this is my conclusion... Turns out, based on my psychologist response, kids hit their mothers mostly because they are testing them to see what their reaction will be. They usually don't do it to the fathers because they can sense that strong masculine presence which gives them a small amount of fear. However Mommies are usually seen as soft and loving and so kids think that they can test Mommy and get over on her. My girlfriend's son is in a learning phase

Stupidity Drives People To TailGate
2008-05-07 15:14:00
I was driving to the mall the other day on I-95 with two of my girlfriends at a speed of 60 mph when suddenly, a middle aged guy seated in a blue Honda Accord begins to tailgate us. He tailgates us for about 4 miles until we finally reach our exit. And then, upon returning home, a few other cars happen to do the same the thing “tailgate”. Meanwhile, I’m alternating between speeds of 60 mph to 70 mph and the whole time, I’m thinking, what do these people want, for me to go 100mph? This is a crisis because let’s say that I’m driving down the highway at a speed of 60mph with my son in the backseat, while some irrational person is driving right on my tail, and suddenly, I abruptly press on my brakes because a deer races across the road in front me, then where would that lead us? N

Is Sex All That Matters?

"What more could have been said?" I wondered, left with a feeling of content, after reading Joyce Garity's essay "Is Sex All That Matters?" Able to identify with her on most of her viewpoints of the world in which we live in today, I felt some of the weight being lifted from off my shoulders; relieved that I'm not the only human in this world looking upon magazine and TV ads, with half-naked mode

Train up a child in the way he should go

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 Children need to know right and wrong, and the best place to learn it is at home. If they don’t learn it there, they may end up without any moral and spiritual anchor.Children also want their parents to care enough for them to be strict. Parents who refuse to discipline their children are
