I got the Alex flat files built!! Yay!!! 2008-07-24 13:47:00 I will admit, it was not pretty. The first hour and a half went along smoothly. Then, a mini-freak out occured when I accidentally merged the incorrect backing onto one of the drawers, using one of those plastic nails that are almost impossible to reverse! It's an odd thing, when you begin actively, angrily swearing at furniture. A bit weird to think about after the fact (who was that??) but funny. Read more:files

Let's make some cool stuff. 2008-07-14 20:20:00 These are mini-cards with envelopes (not shown)I originally had tonight slotted for working on one of my children's book dummies. But I found myself inadvertently short on some pieces I need to deliver tomorrow, at the very last minute. I had to do some impromptu making-of-stuff
.I love crafting and making stuff with my artwork. What artist doesn't? But I now remember why I got out of this line of

Binding update 2008-07-29 22:31:00 I went to Kinko's tonight to check out my binding options. There were only a couple of options that stood out for me for my time frame and my needs: Velo Binding
and Tape Binding.Above: Velo Binding option (with the clear plastic cover)Velo Binding is when they fuse a piece (a thin bar, really)of plastic, paper-to-paper, along with your pages. So it fuses your pages together with plastic essential
The creation of a picture book dummy 2008-07-28 23:00:00 I am once again working on my first picture book dummy. I worked hard on it earlier this year, but put it away for awhile until recently (...like letting dough rise, ha ha... or making beer. I've never made beer, but I think it needs to sit in the cellar for awhile.) Anyhow, this is the same original story, but it is Version 2.0 of the actual dummy!I am finally figuring things out for myself regar
Studio update 7/27/08 2008-07-26 23:35:00 For more pics click here (takes you to Flickr.)We are getting there! I think things are just going to officially be a "work in progress" from here on in. There are things that would be ideal to change, but that I simply cannot change about my space right now -- fundamental usable-workspace things, not talking 'bout cosmetic things -- but the room is in as good of a shape as it is likely to get fo

It involves around 40 artists a month, one super-energetic woman named Amy (who organizes the project, picks the artists, photographs the goods, assembles the packges, publishes a magazine, and... and... well you get the picture). But last but not least, it involves YOU, because YOU have the opportunity to WIN one of two August

Illustration Friday: Detach 2008-08-16 21:03:00 The boat detached from the harbor to go off on a big adventure. This is a greeting card I made for a friend. It's from a couple of years ago but it really fit with "detach". I almost posted it for "sail" last week but little Cap'n Doggie fit that one so well that I went with him, instead for last week.
