5 Years Late
2008-05-03 17:30:29
You can love from the deepest parts of your innocently burning being. You can conjugate love in all the English tenses. You can make the most passionate declaration of love to someone. You can have that love thrown back at you, in the face.5 years go by.They pop up out of nowhere to say HI.They act as if nothing had happened. They expect to find the 20-year-old they once rejected.5 years went by.You had your chance. You blew it.Take responsibility.

Carbonated Water Is MY Wine
2008-05-03 17:03:39
OK. I don't drink alcohol but have to blow some steam, occasionally.I drink carbonated bubbly water. The reason I'm "drinking"?Just feel too crashed and overwhelmed.Plus, I realized that I am like animals, in movies. When horses get agitated at the coming of some unhappy news. One of mom's uncles died this evening.I had the same feeling when both my grand-parents passed away. So, I'm drinking carbonated water.I am not as strong as I'd like to be.

A Lifetime Testimony of LOVE

Dr. Buscaglia: Exquisite Heart & Mind
2008-05-02 10:23:47
A friend introduced me to an amazingly altruistic man whose mission on earth was to spread love, alleviate feelings of loneliness, guide the lost and make others feel cared about. The late Dr. Leo Buscaglia is the symbol of simplicity wrapped up in interwoven layers of love, understanding, compassion and selflessness. His mission has struck a chord within me for the simple reason that it is similar to mine. I don't want to go into details about how I envision my physical stay on earth but, if anything, I'd like to start a revolution for love, simplicity, peace and compassion around the world. This new 'friend of the soul' of mine has said something nothing I have ever read could be as beautiful and meaningful. This quote is simply a key to many gates inside of me; gates that will open up to

I Hate TV Noise In The Background
2008-04-30 09:19:48
Don't you hate it when you're talking to somebody online and the sound of their TV in the background is just louder than their voice? Little do they know that it's both annoying and distracting. You are annoyed because you're really into what you're trying to talk about (maybe it's important after all?) while your chat partner is distracted by the mesmerizing tube's constant siren chant. What's so hot about TV that one has to turn it on as soon as one gets home? It must be the wars, the natural disasters and the numerous mind control programs.Nonsense!

Does Islamophobia Really Exist?
2008-04-30 08:44:27
In the wake of another Danish attempt to 'tease' the Muslim World through a movie called "Fitna" which supposedly proves, point by point, how the Koran (Islam's Holy Book) preaches hatred and violence, the Finance Secretary Senator of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Babar Awan, wants to hit back. How? Click HERE to read.We all remember the aftermath of the publication of the Danish cartoons and somebody seems to want to recreate the same effect, if not on a bigger scale. But, what use is teasing?

I Love You With All My HEAD!
2008-04-29 12:14:05
This is not autobiographical but it rang a loud bell after I had heard about it. I'm aching because of it. It's not just empathy; it's solidarity with humanity. Here's the story I'd like you to imagine is happening to you and tell me how you'd react to it.The one you're madly in love with talks you into moving from your country to the one they reside in to continue your studies and live with them. While your heart is dancing with joy, you quit school even though you're only one year away from graduation, meaning you'll have to pay students loans for a degree you won't complete. In addition, your beloved promised to share their car, computer and everything else with you so that you don't have to spend a penny. You take all the necessary steps without encountering a single problem with paperw

Miley Cyrus Causes Controversy
2008-04-28 18:01:01
Puritanism seems to have re-awakened.While the world is sinking into an intense food price inflation, some people find time to express outrage over some 15-year-old rising star's exposed back picture. What's so shocking about that? Isn't she a future Britney in the making? Some want the controversy to be about Miley Cyrus's back picture on the latest Vanity Fair magazine issue while the real outrage is about the Disney star's pics leaking on the Internet showing her in different sultry poses with different degrees of sexual teasing. I bet Disney is trying to desperately alleviate the effect of such a disgrace on its revenues through a counter-attack in the form of artsy pics published on a national magazine alluding to their puppet's semi-nude shots.Who's to blame? Parents! Some parents need

Why Does a Song Grow On You?
2008-04-25 17:20:58
Ever wondered why a song grows on you?One word: repetition.Repetition is one unknown strategy for mind control. The more a song is played on the radio, the more it is sung on TV shows, the more its video is played on the innumerable channels, the more we grow to like it.Lab rats used for scientific experimentation are a good example of repetitious patterns leading to more convincing results. Pavlov did condition the dog to salivate at the sight of a light to indicate that it's lunch time. Nothing of that could have been possible without redundant drills. So, does the music industry think we're lab rats? lolRepetition is also used in learning languages. Even though it is said not to be as effective as everybody thought it would be when Latin used to be the dominant tongue, I noticed that peo

Madonna: A Return To ... Yawn
2008-04-25 12:27:52
MySpace held a listening party for Madonna 's new CD "Hard Candy" before its release.Carried away by the catchy first single "4 Minutes To Save The World" featuring Justin Timberlake, I decided to give it a listen and, boy, was I disappointed!Generic lyrics, uninspired melodies, nonchalant vocals and an overall feel of inappropriateness. It's as if Madonna decided to sing Opera. On some songs, she tries too hard adapting to R&B-flavored beats but her voice doesn't fit the style. Is her voice too white for this? Probably. On some other tracks, she just sounds as if she's turned her children's books into songs. But the icing on the cake is when a whole song is lyrically dedicated to translating words/expressions from Spanish to English. Quite educational, indeed. She just reminds us that pop, i

Céréalo: New Guilty Pleasure
2008-04-24 04:29:10
I, at first, wanted to try a new yogurt. So I got myself 'Céréalo'. Then, I liked the feel of the ground wheat it is made of.After that, I got hooked on the taste of honey. Now, I love the whole thing.PS. Céréalo is a purely Algerian product. It is manufactured by the excellent Soummam, an amazing Algerian firm with larger-than-life dairy products.

Turkish Blood = Turkish Tongue?
2008-04-23 20:54:15
I have Turkish roots and would love to be able to speak the language someday. I'd love to visit Turkey, as well. I hear Istanbul is amazing. My mom visited there some 2 years ago and came back mesmerized. Do I need to say that I love Turkish Delight? :-)I used to hate Lokum until a friend brought me some on his last visit. Lokum with walnuts inside is to die for!!!On a linguistic note, I just have been told that görüşürüz means Good Night.Interesting!

ADSL: 1 M = 1850 DA !!!

The Brave One
2008-04-22 15:58:22
I'm pleasantly surprised after I have watched "The Brave One". While I had expected it to be boring, I religiously followed every little detail.I wonder if Erica, magnificently portrayed by Jodie Foster, will find solace in the fact she has killed the ones who were responsible for turning, overnight, her life into a hell. In her quest to make justice reign, she seemed to have started to get used to the idea of avenging any tortured soul in New York City. Detective Mercer is an angel in the movie; not only does he let her personally take revenge, but he also helps her get away with it. I don't know if morality should condemn helping a 'criminal' knowing that the latter has been a victim in the first place. One big con imposes itself here, though. How come the murderers and killers are racia

Toxic Chinese Notebooks Exported to Algeria
2008-04-22 13:22:31
Researchers are alarmed by the harm Chinese products may cause to Algerian school children. Many notebooks made in China have been proven to be toxic and too dangerous for health with a possibility to cause cancer. When will this industrial madness stop? Not only can Chinese products be hazardous but they also can constitute a major risk to public health and welfare. Anything Chinese in Algeria is disposable: alarm clocks break in a matter of weeks, umbrellas tear apart within days, shoes 'go all smiles' after a few steps, etc.I have nothing against China; I just can't accept risky products to be shipped all over the world for the sake of profit-making.If you want to cash in lots of money, at least make sure that your products are good.

There's Something About Me
2008-04-22 10:54:51
I was delighted to watch "There's Something About Mary" last night. Even though I know the movie came out a while ago and have heard a lot about it, I just never happened to watch it. The movie was just like how I like 'em: funny, awkward, goofy and, yet, meaningful. The zipper accident, the shoe fetish, Magda and the ear sensitivity of Mary's brother are just to die for, among many other things.I have realized that I like to watch and enjoy movies that everybody has already watched, and probably forgotten about. It's a unique experience for me to be able to savor something nobody is creating a buzz about anymore. I guess I don't like to appreciate stuff that everybody is digging - I don't know why but that's the way it is and I'm not sure it's going to ever change.Mary, portrayed by Camer

Internet Browsers Dumb You Down?
2008-04-22 10:24:05
We all know and enjoy the AutoFill button on our Internet browsers which make sure our usernames & passwords are memorized on the computer so that we don't have to think about them if need be. As much as they seem to facilitate our life on the computer, they also contribute in reducing our memory. Proof is that sometimes this button messes up and can't fill out the form required, and if we don't have the info memorized or written somewhere, we are pretty much unable to access that page, such as an email account. Many studies advise us to always train our brains either through crossword puzzles or any stimulating mental activity. Memorizing one's passwords is as good since it makes the neurons get their sweat on, so to speak. Some will complain that they have more than an email account and

Aussie Phlegm

G'day mates!Australia must be a mine of viruses. Why?Both Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera had viral problems while touring there. The former had to cancel shows in Australia and postpone her current world tour "Taking Chances" while the latter had to put an end to her world tour since she was pregnant as well.Coincidence? :-)We love us some Aussie bum, so do not take this post personally.Cheers!

Early Blooming : Pros & Cons
2008-05-04 17:50:06
I remember many of my peers telling me how they so wanted to grow up and become adults.Being an adult was synonymous with being independent, respected, listened to and taken into consideration.Being an adult meant joining the family at the big dinner table, being asked for our opinion and having a say in certain matters. You physically blossom overnight. You realize that you're considered as an adult. When you feet get longer, you realize looking down from the top is not as fun as you thought when you used to look up to see the top.As an adult, you're held responsible for a lot of things.Your thinking is criticized. Your behavior is evaluated. You are not held. You are not rocked to sleep.Your body starts to attract unwanted attention. You are sent down a spiral and asked to make it.You are des

The Secret Behind Those Eyes
2008-05-04 15:43:23
I need to post this and move on.Many people asked about what these eyes of mine are hiding.Nothing mysterious; just a heavy suitcase I've been dragging for so long.I decided to travel light from now on.That's why I'm dropping my suitcase out of the plane's window. As much as opening a plane's window is dangerous, opening one's suitcase is as risky. But I have to.Without further ado, here's what I wrote a friend this morning.A friend who didn't know the unembellished truth.I was born fatherless (no father figure, male role model or male affection)Mom grew up poor, wanted to climb up the social ladder and, at 20, married a rich guy who turned out to be an absentee alcoholic 24/7. She had two kids with him then had to ask for divorce. She was banned from seeing her kids. My poor grandpa couldn

Empathy: A Sword With Two Edges
2008-05-04 10:51:11
Empathy is a noble human extra-sensory feeling. It has advantages and drawbacks.Advantages:Providing an attentive listening ear.Understanding and compassion.Guidance and help.Solidarity.Disadvantages:Overwhelm.Extra sensitivity.Pain.I know empathy has more advantages than disadvantages, but it is oh-so heavy one one's heart. We're obviously not talking about exaggerated cases of empathy when, for example, somebody chokes on a pretzel and coughs, and the next thing you know is you coughing with a cold. lolAh, this empathy! If it were a mosquito, I'd have smashed it.
