It's All About Love
2008-05-25 13:38:58
While browsing some of my previous posts, I realized that most of those were about, for and because of that elusive thing called Love. My earliest posts were so about love that my blog could have been categorized in the 'crazy about love' box. I guess I blogged so much about love that I lost it along the way. lol I am trying to ignore it but I genuinely believe that I am unable to fall in love

Self-Rehab: Day One [Part I]
2008-05-25 08:59:42
As I mentioned before, I decided to enter my own rehab facility to get my eating, sleeping and living habits back on track. It started today. Since I had gone to bed at 3.30 AM last night, I woke up at noon and had some scrambled eggs along with tomatoes, carrots, lettuce and an orange. This might not be the typical breakfast, but breakfasts at noon are seldom. Therefore, I'd like to think about

Nearly Everything I Know Is Acquired
2008-05-24 21:17:22
I had been introduced in high school, as part of my Biology classes, to the concept of Innateness vs. Acquisition. Man is said to have been born with in-built mechanisms that would ensure his survival on earth, right from birth. A newborn baby, for example, won't drown if you throw them into the sea. However, as we grow older we seem to suppress those internal devices and, instead, start

Entering My Own Rehab
2008-05-24 21:10:44
I have been skipping breakfast for the past 5 months. I used to wake up at 2 PM to barely have time to shove a quick lunch down before having to literally jet to work. Then by 9 PM, I was home and ready to devour anything I could lay my hand on. I, consequently, seemed to never have enough food to keep me going for the day. Therefore, I had subconsciously started overeating during lunch and

Self-Rehab: Day One [Part II]
2008-05-26 00:57:33
I have had some carrots and tomato juice this afternoon along with a small cheese sandwich. Then, for dinner, I had some french fries with a Caesar salad. It's been consistent so far, but now that a friend is eating carmel cake, dates, dried figs and tea, I just can't stop drooling. It is hard to resist but I'll do my best to fight temptation. Oh, war against too much food is grueling. *pulls out

Wet Celery
2008-05-25 18:08:51
A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him.She says Hello! He’s rather taken aback because he can’t place where he knows her from.So he says “Do you know me”? To which she replies “I think you’re the father of one of my kids”. Shocked, his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and he says “My God, are you the

Backhamian Stadium Distractions
2008-05-27 23:00:29
David Beckham touches himself so often in stadiums that it makes one believe he needs those gimmicks to "sell" his most valuable and lucrative product: David Beckham. It seems that his looks, body, semi-naked pics and provocative designer campaign billboards overshadow his once-brilliant soccer skills. Here are some visual proofs of the Brit's other talents. The picture in the middle is

The Queen of Cannes: Ophélie Winter
2008-05-27 21:30:23
Ophélie Winter has made sure to walk the red carpet of the annual French film festival on the French Rivera. She's been present almost every summer since she rose to stardom in 1997. Proof in picture. At 23 in 1997.In 1998, she was the first white French celebrity to kiss her black fiancé on a red carpet. In 2000. With a daring see-through gown in 2001. With a shorter-than-short outfit in 2004

A Gay Gene Might Exist
2008-05-27 20:54:16
I bumped into a blog post online today which says that a gay gene may have been found. Here what it says: Some scientists claim they can potentially identify fetuses hardwired for homosexuality, and the gap between recognition and intervention is quickly narrowing. Lately some of the more notable research on the subject has focused on animals—namely, sheep. As it turns out, one in 10 rams

A Day Without a Phone = Bliss
2008-05-27 19:15:13
A day without the phone. What pure heaven! I spent the day without hearing the phone all day. I had made sure to have it on silent mode before going to bed, last night. No more sudden text massage notifications in the middle of the night keeping you awake for hours after. No more people dialing the wrong number to insist they had dialed the right one, then spend the next 10 minutes asking you

Vocabulary Books' Sales In Decline
2008-05-27 18:37:08
I realized, through some chat sessions, that some people's vocabulary includes 10 words. That's not bad in a text-message-world where everything is abbreviated, even your civil liberties. You chat with somebody and all they write back is "yep", "hehe", "no", "maybe", etc. I am not asking for an essay but for a meaningful sentence. What's a sentence anyways

Self-Rehab: Day Two [Part II]
2008-05-27 17:51:22
It's 11.30 PM and I'm hungry. I haven't had dinner yet so I got me some French beans in red sauce with carrots, olive oil and sliced boiled eggs sprinkled on top. For dessert, it's gonna be some more strawberries, apricots and yogurt. I think I am doing good so far... when I think I used to have dinner at 3 AM!I'll keep you posted :-)

Self-Rehab: Day Two [Part I]
2008-05-27 17:45:34
I have had two yogurt pots with whole wheat bread for breakfast this morning at around 11AM. This yogurt is made of honey and wheat which is a great way to start the day. By 1.30PM, I felt like taking a nap and I did. By 5 PM, I opted for a late lunch made of two home-made, whole grain, 4-inch sandwiches with tuna fish, cheese and lettuce. I, then, had some apricots and strawberries for dessert.

New York City: The Other Paris?
2008-05-27 15:41:27
In the Sex And The City movie, academy award-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson, tells Sarah Jessica Parker that she's come to New York to fall in love. It seems that love can only be found either in Paris , Rome or New York which seems to imply that you can't find it if you don't live there. Maybe that's why most New Yorkers don't date out of the state; I'm going to upset a few people but it's as

Make Time Stop Ticking Out
2008-05-27 14:20:30
Woe me! when I set up my mind to doing something! Unstoppable is an understatement. LOL As part of my self-rehab, I decided to give up on time. Arabs say "Time is a sword; if you don't cut it cuts you". After realizing how time has devoured all of our lives, I decided to simply cut it before it cuts me. Over are the times I used to go to bed disturbed by the idea of oversleeping or miss

If Speech Is Silver, Silence Is Gold
2008-05-27 12:49:18
Such says an Arabic proverb. Would you rather go for silver or gold? Many people think they have to keep talking to make conversation. Little do they seem to know that silence is beautiful and meaningful. Not only does silence let you gather up with your own senses, but it also lets you listen more carefully to somebody talking to you. I know, out of experience, that those who speak little have

Grandma Said Sleep Is The Best Medicine
2008-05-27 10:23:06
Puffy-eyed me has just awakened to post this about the virtues of good sleep. I slept for 7 hours last night but felt a need to nap at some point today. I went for my nap at 1.30 PM. 2 hours later, here I am stretching my eyes to the max to be able to look at the computer screen.  Sleep ing feels good when you make sure all the optimal conditions for good sleep are made available. One of those

How To Be a Gentleman: Tip Of The Day
2008-05-29 12:40:15
What's the difference between a layman and a gentleman? A regular guy would give you his instant messenger handle and ask you to add him while a gentleman would ask for your instant messenger username so that he can add you.  Slight subtleties make tremendous differences.

I Was Cinderello For A Night
2008-05-29 12:25:29
It seems my Wednesday evenings will be booked on a weekly basis as I'm often invited for dinner with some buds. I came home when the clock struck midnight. I've had roasted chicken breast, french fries, carrot juice and a salad made of rice, boiled eggs, sliced carrots, lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise. It was fun.

iPod = i Provoke Ongoing Deafness
2008-05-29 12:16:19
I understand music is a passion for many. I understand some people listen to it all the time. I also understand that playing loud music for a limited period of time is damaging as many doctors advise concert-goers to stand as far away from the speakers as possible. I, therefore, understand that listening to loud music all the time is harmful for the hearing. To make people gradually go deaf, the

My TV Is Working Again
2008-05-29 11:35:11
My TV has had only one channel on it for more than a month. I don't watch it but my family does. It's been finally fixed today; therefore, we have more than 8 [French] channels now. Even though I had stopped watching TV back in 2004, I admit it is much more comfortable to watch laying on one's bed than it is to surf the web sitting on a rigid chair. Consequently, TV wins over the PC 1 to 0.

Proverb Of The Day
2008-05-28 09:27:33
Here's a meaningful Arabic proverb we all should learn and live by. "A foolish man may be known by six things: Anger without cause, speech without profit, change without progress, inquiry without object, putting trust in a stranger, and mistaking foes for friends."
