You Ain’t Gotta A Thing
2007-03-01 00:25:50
Unless you got that Ning. In case you are unfamiliar, Ning gives anyone the ability to create, customize, and share their own social network, based around whatever topic you want (example), in a matter of minutes. For FREE. And unlike MySpace, Ning actually looks good. Let’s say you are a fan of Microbrewed beer and you want to create a social network to interact with other fans and get recommendations. After you create an account and give your new network a name, using Ning’s drag and drop interface, you can add stuff like photos, text, forums, blogs, music, videos, and RSS feeds to your new Microbrew network. You can then customize the look of your network by selecting one of Ning’s design templates and uploading your images, or, if you are more design (and code!) oriented you can upload your own CSS or HTML. Once you’ve finished with your design, you select whether or not you want your network to be public or private and you’re ready to start networkin

Look out Lamar… Be careful Clear Channel… Here comes BrightGIS. Following Fortune500 companies’ increasing desire to advertise in new, non-traditional places, BrightGIS is ready to sell you prime billboard space all over the planet… in Google Earth. All ads will be place on one or more of our beautifully rendered 3-D virtual billboards. All of these boards have been constructed with the highest attention to detail. This ensures that your ad receives the best overall exposure. I guess it was only a matter of time, especially since Microsoft launched their Google Earth competitor, Virtual Earth, with billboards already in place and companies have been setting up shop in Second Life for some time now. How long will it take for the big boys to try to get in the game - will Lamar start selling outdoor in World of Warcraft? It should also be interesting to see what sorts of creative virtual “outdoor” agencies can come up with… anything as cool a

Interactive Podcasting
2007-03-13 01:47:40
First there was the call-in radio show. And it was good…ish. Then there was the online chat. And it, too, was good-ish. Now, straight outa the Southern California, comes the interactive podcast. The whuh? You heard me. Podcasts. Interactively. What are interactive podcasts? An interactive, participatory, podcast is one in which you, the audience (or ‘podience’) member, can participate in the conversation – or the podcast – and have an opportunity to ask questions of the podcast guests (such as Robert Scoble and Shel Israel), or make a comment on the topic (such as Business Blogging). The focus of the conversation is around you, and the global audience members and the topic at hand. Our guests, often industry experts or thought leaders, join in response to what you have to say. It’s like talk radio, only on your computer. A prodcast. Waxxi, a Santa Barbara startup that launched last year with its inaugural interactive podcast that did indeed feature Robert Scoble

The Top 10 Benefits of Podcasting
2007-03-20 21:00:10
One of the comments on our recent post about interactive podcasting outfit, Waxxi, asked: More to the point (which is marketing, yes?) how are advertisers using podcasts, or are they? Does the Creative Department have ideas on how to use Podcasts? I provided a quick rundown of podcasting’s benefits in response, but I figured that today I’d provide a little more detail for companies wondering whether they should jump into the podcasting pool. So, in true Late Show with David Letterman fashion, I give you: Cool Factor Having a podcast means that you not only recognize the benefits of podcasting, but that you are up-to-date with current trends. Improve Interviewing and Media Relations Skills Practice makes perfect and podcasting gives you the opportunity to interview and be interviewed as much as you want. Convenience Once customers subscribe to your podcast, you don’t have to remind them to download new episodes. Instead, your message lands directly on your customers’ de
