Menon and Arbaaz Khan as cops.Says Arbaaz: "What makes this real life story interesting is the way it has been written. Manish Gupta, who has written Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar", has converted the gruesome serial killings into a thriller. Such is the screenplay that the needle of suspicion points to all the characters, including me and K.K. Menon.""Stoneman" is the latest film on real life crimes. Decades ago, R.K. Nayyar shot "Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke" about a real life murder. Most recently, Anurag Basu's "Gangster - A Love Story" was inspired by the life and crimes of Abu Salem.

Jeff Crowe
admitted on Saturday that Sri Lanka had been mistakenly asked to come back on the field for a final three overs in the rain-reduced World Cup final against Australia.Australia were celebrating their third consecutive World Cup victory after the Sri Lanka batsman had gone off for bad light when the teams were told they would have to complete the final three overs or come back on Sunday to finish the match. The game, in fact, was already completed under international cricket rules because Sri Lanka had batted the minimum 20 of their reduced allotted 36 overs and failed to reach their target.Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his Sri Lanka counterpart Mahela Jayawardene agreed that the Australian spinners, instead of fast bowlers, would bowl the final overs Read more:error

Aussies are extra special - Jayawardene 2008-04-29 22:38:15 Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene believes that Australia have that something extra which separates champions from the others.Australia won the World Cup for a record third successive time when they completed a 53-run victory on Duckworth-Lewis method against Sri Lanka in virtual darkness at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday."I think they always keep improving. A lot of teams have competed really well against Australia in the past, but maybe when they come to a big tournament they seem to have that little bit of extra," said Jayawardene."They have different ways of going about things. They went unbeaten when it was difficult to remain unbeaten in the tournament because of different conditions and opposition, but they played really good cricket."Australia are unbeaten in their Read more:Aussies

Australian press lament 'Tour de Farce' 2008-04-29 22:37:12 They might have walked away with the coveted World Cup trophy, but Australian
s were on Monday shaking their heads at the bizarre ending to the biggest event in cricket's one-day calendar."Victory in tour de farce" trumpeted Sydney's Daily Telegraph, which bemoaned the official bungling that saw the last minutes of the final against Sri Lanka played play out in near pitch-black darkness.Confusion over whether the game had finished, which saw Australia celebrate victory for ten minutes before being asked to play three more overs, had reduced the competition to an "international laughing stock," the paper said. The criticism did not stop at the rain-interrupted final played at Bridgetown's Kensington Oval but extended to the entire tournament, which was dismissed as too long and boring."The 20 Read more:Farce

April 27, 2008 - MacGuffin? 2008-04-29 22:28:36 Winging by a wire and bringing the fire ...I've been spending most of my time lately getting all the stuff together we need for the new website. Even though someone other than myself is designing it and making sure it all works right. We hope to have the first version up by next month. This is certainly taking a lot more time than I anticipated. Especially since my main focus as been the rough cut I'm still working on. However, other matters beyond the edit (and website) has taken my attention away ...A little about the website itself. It will consist of five main sections:1) Story, which will include a logline and synopsis with several photos that help represent the story, along with a director interview and a few more photos;2) Cast, which will include bios of the eight main cast m Read more:April
Shadows in the Palace - Film Review 2008-04-29 22:26:04 “Shadows
in the Palace
” is a terrific fast paced conspiratorial page turner that refuses to take a breath. Occurring in the period of the Joseon Dynasty, this palace potboiler is full of enough twists, turns and red herrings to keep most viewers off balance and perplexed. What makes it especially fascinating is the feminist milieu in which the plot unfolds – a secret world behind the gates of the royal palace in which ambitious women grasp desperately for power and for survival and murder is only one of many options available to them. In fact, nearly the entire cast is female with only a few small roles for the opposite sex. The director is female as well, but her debut entry is not a delicate tale of polite manners and subtle intrigue – it is historical pulp with mangled bodies pi Read more:Film Review

Still Catching Up on Pusan 2008-04-29 22:24:29 Here are a couple more short reviews from the films I saw in Busan. As I slowly roll these out they will likely get shorter and shorter because in truth they are fading fast from my memory. The final review will probably be down to “I think I liked this”. I do attempt to take a few notes while watching the film, but even in the light my penmanship is a thing of horror – you would need a cryptographer of ancient languages to decipher my writing in the dark.
Sylvia Chang 2008-04-29 22:21:12 Currently Thailand is hosting the 5th World Film Festival of Bangkok and as part of that there is a tribute to Taiwanese actress and director SylviaChang
. They are showing six of her films in which she appeared or directed and last night I had the pleasure of catching the Shaw Brothers film Dream of the Red Chamber on the big screen. I am not really a fan of the Huangmei Opera films, but I love this one with its lush ornate sets, melodic tunes and gut crunching emotions. Oh, and it also stars Brigitte Lin and Sylvia Chang. Ok - that is mainly why I love this film. This was the only Shaw film that either of them ever appeared in and in their pristine youth they dazzle in their close-ups. I have occasionally thought what a shame it was that the Shaws didn’t sign Brigitte up after her succ
