Gunner - Sponsored Pet 2008-04-26 22:37:27 I'm happy to have had the opportunity to sponsor another shelter animal. I plan on continuing to sponsor a shelter animal in need every month with some of the profits I make from my art. I sponsor these animals through the Petfinder.com Sponsorship program. This month, I chose a cute Rat Terrier named Gunner
. He (and many others!) are available for adoption through Ratbone Rescues. Here's what they have to say about Gunner:"Gunner is a 6-year-old mellow fellow... 20 lbs. of pure love and adoration. He is a low-key dog, very content to snuggle up in his doggy bed or with his foster family on the couch. He can walk nicely on lead and is housebroken. He is friendly towards all the other dogs in his foster home as well as all humans. Gunner had been taken to a shelter after being diagnose

Polar Bears + Huskies = Adorable 2008-04-11 19:18:11 I've been meaning to post about this story since I saw it on the web last week. The Daily Mail has this amazing story of polar bears playing and cuddling with a team of huskies in northern Canada. For those of you who have not seen the video yet, I definitely recommend watching it! It's truly amazing and heart warming to watch those big polar bears cuddling the dogs. However, I don't think the dogs get the same enjoyment from these bear hugs! hahaKiller polar bear? I'm just a big teddy, really! on the Daily Mail Read more:Polar

Ever wonder how I card my wool? 2008-03-06 07:31:29 Meet Toby, our 3 year old Jack Russell Terrier. He LOVES wool. Absolutely adores it. I might go as far as to say he is the biggest fan of my work. He will sit and stare at it for hours and hours. Though, I think this has more to do with his prey drive than his admiration of fine art!The less processed the wool is, the better (in his opinion)! Toby has a habit of rolling in my wool roving and barking in glee while doing so. Also seen here is his partner in crime, Patches, our 12 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. On her own she has no interest in the wool, but upon seeing how much fun Toby has with it she can't resist the urge to join in. Read more:wonder

Treasuries x4 2008-02-17 13:00:26 It has been a busy week for me, but I'm happy to have a few moments to update my blog! This is a new high for me, 4 treasuries! I can't explain how excited I am to know people are noticing my work. All the effort is starting to pay off, and it leaves me so excited to see what the future will bring to my business! Spunky 2008-04-27 13:19:39 My previous post was about the latest shelter dog I am sponsoring - a Rat Terrier named Gunner. One of my reasons for choosing to sponsor Gunner was that he reminded me of the dog I had while growing up. Gunner is a 6 year old Rat Terrier with diabetes, and even looks similar to Spunky. Pictured above is a photograph of Spunky, our Rat Terrier, and the miniature Needle Felted version of him I created as a present for my mother. I decided I would like to share a few things about Spunky.Spunky passed away almost 4 years ago. He had Cushing's disease, which caused a variety of symptoms and led him to develop diabetes as a result. Spunky was a great dog, and I know my mother still misses him terribly. I was happy to give her a miniature version of Spunky that I created as a way to remember him
I've been tagged! 2008-04-29 12:18:44 I'm not normally one to participate in in blog tagging games, but I was recently tagged by Pet Rescuer Central and figured I might as well join in! =) Apparently the rules are as follows:The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player than tags 4 or 5 people and post their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.Let the person who tagged you know when you have posted your answer1.What was I doing 10 years ago?Wow, 10 years ago is a long time! I was actually still in school - not college, not high school... but elementary school haha. So I guess I was doing lots of homework, studying and goofing off with others kid
I made the cut! 2008-04-30 08:42:54 So, I cut my hair. A lot of it! I was recently watching some reruns of Oprah and saw the episode where Hilary Swank cut her hair to donate for cancer patients. I had hoped to donate my hair once before in the past, but it had been coloured so I was unable to. However, that episode of Oprah got me thinking that my hair was long enough again and this time I hadn't dyed it or anything, so there was no reason I couldn't donate it. So, off to the hair dresser I went!My husband wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea, but hey it's not like I listen to him anyways haha. I just reminded him it was for a good cause. I donated my hair (more than 10" and 2 ponytails worth - I have very thick hair!) to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. What swayed me to donate to this program? Well, sadly I must ad
Cause 4 Paws Donation 2008-05-01 16:13:15 A while back I mentioned the Cause
4 Paws Art Festival being held to benefit Lincoln County Animal Shelter. Well, the time came to send in my donation to the silent auction - I chose to donate my little needle felted Bichon Frise dog. I hope he is able to raise some good money to help the shelter animals in Lincoln County, apparently this shelter receives the least state funding of all Oregon shelters. I really hope the Cause 4 Paws Art Festival will be a huge success! If you live in Oregon, please consider showing your support by attending the festival. It's being held in Newport, Oregon. Unfortunately, I live in Ontario Canada and will be unable to attend but I am still excited about it! This event is FREE to the public and family friendly!
