I feel beat like a rented mule...
2008-04-25 19:56:00
With my blood pressure being up I haven't been motivated to do much. I have at least stuck to my healthy snacking plan of eating less but eating more often.Today I had oatmeal for breakfast, baby carrots at break this morning, a couple small tacos at lunch, some beef jerky at afternoon break and a handful of wheat pretzel sticks when I got home from work.I only got about 3 hours of sleep with my high blood pressure last night. That and a screaming sick 10 month old. Not sure what was worse. LOL.Wish me luck, hopefully I will have better progress to report tomorrow.

Blood pressure
2008-04-24 19:58:00
Anyone else dealing with high blood pressure? ? ?I have tried about 20 different meds with no luck. Most of them make me so light headed and give me such headaches that I can't take them.Without meds, my BP runs 160/100. Right now I am on HCT and norvasc. Its alright, but my BP is only down to like 137/88 or so.My father in law said he drinks red wine, about 4 oz a night for his high BP and thats all he takes. I don't know, I have eliminated all table salt, eat reduced sodium everything, walk, I am somewhat active during the day, I eat healthy. What gives.

Wednesday Night Weigh In
2008-04-23 22:16:00
I try to make it a habit to weigh in on Wednesday nights. Its easy to remember if I do it every week. I am still stuck in my plateau. *sigh*Anyway, keeping positive, I am still down 42 pounds from when I started at last thanksgiving. Its definite progress, but I have a long way to go.42 Pounds down, 58 to go (at least for phase 1 of my self-re-engineering).

finally did something...
2008-04-23 12:55:00
I spent about 90 minutes working on mowing the lawn last night. The grass must have been 16" tall and clogged the mower bad. I had to bag all the clippings just to keep the mower from stalling. Talk about a workout. I wore my pedometer just for kicks. I know from experience that while at work I usually put on about 3500-4000 steps a day running around production, meetings and my office. In the 90 minutes I mowed I walked almost 6200 steps. Man, no wonder I am tired after mowing. I felt great afterward... tired, but great. Hopefully going into summer now I can get out of my winter slump and get outside and active again.

humor
2008-04-22 16:13:00
Sometimes I find motivation in humor, a friend sent me this, enjoy!   I was walking past the mental hospital the other day,and all the patients were shouting ,'13....13....13'The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks and looked through to see what was going on. Some bastard poked me in the eye with a stick. Then they all started shouting '14....14....14'...

Need Motivation
2008-04-22 14:59:00
I have been doing pretty good in following my diet plan, low fat mostly, eating healthier overall, skipping junk food and sweets and watching my portions. Sounds easy but it's not. Every time I fall off the wagon I get back on and tell myself the past is the past and look forward. This mental stimulii has served me well and kept me on track overall. So far I have lost about 43 pounds, a great start, but I have a ways to go. I have lately hit a plateau and have stayed steady for about a month now, I need to up the ante. Thus far I have thrived on my ability to just diet alone and get my energy back, hoping that eventually I will get motivated to exercise. Still not motivated, I know that exercising and working out would help me so much... but I just can't seem to get started. What

Lunchtime
2008-04-22 12:37:00
Okay, lunch time is here. I did good in that I brought a healthy-ish lunch, a small portion of left over spaghetti, an apple and Activia yogurt. I am having a hard time staying motivated. I just keep telling myself that if you fall off the wagon, just get back on and put the past behind you. So far it has worked for me, even when we go out to restaurants and I have a large meal, I just put it behind me and work harder the rest of the week. My biggest challenge right now is exercise, I know that my lack thereof is really impacting my loss and health, but it is so hard to get into it.
