Staying Visible at Night

When riding after dark, use extra caution on the road. Drivers are often less likely to see you and your bike, but there are some things you can do to stay visible. First, wear light-colored gear. When purchasing a new jacket or helmet, look for clothing and equipment that is more easily seen at night. Reflective lining on the material is an advantage. Outer reflective jackets can be an excellent addition for added visibility at a low price. Face Shields: Tinted vs Smoked
2008-04-25 03:04:00
When selecting a face shield for bright and sunny conditions, keep in mind that "smoked" facial shields for your helmet may not last as long as traditional "tinted" shields. This is due to the material used in keeping the mirror effect on the shield, as well as the tendency of the shield to become scratched more easily when it has a smoked film over it. You can expect a normal tinted shield to last around six months, but this will depend on how often it is used, the conditions it is stored under, as well as factors such as how many bugs you hit! Summer Jackets for Bikers? Go Mesh.
2008-04-25 02:50:00
With the warm summer days coming upon us, any biker may be wondering: which jacket works best in the heat? The answer is "mesh," hands down. Perforated leather can still provide some airflow, but not as efficiently as the mesh texture that allows for maximum air intake. Light colored material is preferable, rather than dark colors that absorb more heat than you want. If purchasing a jacket that will be used in a variety of weather patterns, consider finding one that has multiple removable layers, sometimes 2 or 3 that can be unzipped or velcro'd together. Check for under armor, not only to make sure that it is comfortable, but that it can be removed for washing. Browse for jackets online.
