Double Movie Day
2007-06-09 10:41:00
What does one do on a free weekend? Watch a movie or two, of course. In the morning, it was Shrek 3. The third installment of our favourite ogre was only mediocre at best and even though there were some good laughs, I didn't think that it could live up to the greatness that was the first movie. Justin Timberlake was awesome as that whiny, sissyfied teenager but everything else was not that great. At least the princesses weren't the traditional damsels in distress. Those ladies could kick ass. Overall, it was fun but I hoped that it could have been better. After a quick lunch, it was Ocean's 13. I have a special spot in my heart for the Ocean's series and I feel like it's a break from tradition to not be watching it on Christmas eve. As much as I want to watch Ocean's 13 on Christmas eve with The Significant Other, we can't always have what we want. Having Brad Pitt opening the movie was great. He's so fucking gorgeous. We see Terry Benedict and that French dude from the second mo

Anniversary
2007-06-14 06:46:00
The PCR fucking worked man! Woot! And now to the more important things.Today is the 27th wedding anniversary of my parents and yet again, my dad forgot about it. Apparently he rarely remembers it. Anyway, my sisters and I don't have anything for them but then that's nothing new either since the parental units are notoriously hard to get gifts for. So, I think we'll just take them out for lunch or dinner over the weekend since it's also my dad's birthday tomorrow. Two birds one stone, no?

After watching Orlando Bloom all tanned and in his natural hair colour in POTC, watching him as Legolas makes him look very wussy.Would it be overkill to add in more potatoes and mushrooms into the cream of mushroom and potatoes soup?I never get tired of watching LoTR over and over again. But then you knew that already.I have a craving for hot chocolate. Not Milo, HOT CHOCOLATE. With a stick of cinnamon in it.Also, cinnamon rolls and sour cream pretzels. I'm hungry now.Suddenly, chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk sound heavenly.I have to pack but somehow, i don't feel up to it.I want to get a yoga beginner's book just so that I can learn how to do the warm ups in the morning. My muscles feel a little tight and I need to loosen them out.It feels odd not to be at work today.I love home-made croutons.Technorati Tags: stuff

I'm back!
2007-06-24 22:46:00
I'm tired and I'm not up to writing every single detail of my trip. There's too many and I think I might have forgotten about half of it anyway. To keep things simple and hopefully not too boring, here's some highlights of the trip. *The Great Wall of China : Even though I didn't climb to the but I did manage to get to about three-quarters of the way to the second watch tower. If you'd have seen how steep the incline was, you'd understand why I stopped. * Forbidden City: Too many red building that look the same. Too many people. Too fucking long, too fucking far. WTF! Was that a Starbucks in that place?* Summer Palace: I can't really remember much other than feeling like I just got off a plane after two hours of flight, an hour of transit, followed but another six hours of flight. Oh wait, I did just got off a plane after two hours of flight, an hour of transit, followed but another six hours of flight, when we went there! * Tianen Men Square: Too far, dusty but not as crowded

My Threadless tees came in yesterday. Here's what I ordered:Haikus are easy but...Procrastinators: Leaders of TomorrowThe Elusive Chocolate MooseDoodlebugSpoiltCute huh? How can I resist t-shirts like that? Anyway, I made it through a week without Internet and TV while I was away because there either wasn't any Internet connection at the hotels or that the TV shows were in languages that I didn't understand. Besides, I was always too tired after being out, doing the touristy things the whole day, to actually have the urge to watch. Now that I'm back home and I have the second season of House M.D. waiting for me but I can't watch it because grandma wants to watch her show. It makes me want to scream! The show isn't even good. Since I can't watch House right now, here's a video of the best of House. On a side note, am I the only one who wants Cuddy, House and Wilson to get together? I mean together together.Technorati Tags: Video, TV

Must be all that swearing. I wonder if I throw in a little bit more words like 'fucking', 'pussy', 'penis', 'drugs' and 'stabbing', would it actually change the rating?*Anyway, today was the first time I attended a yoga lesson after two years and it shows. My balance is shot to hell. When we did the tree pose, instead of looking like a tree standing tall and still on a calm day, I looked like the tree in the middle of a gale storm, swaying this way and that. I hope that in time, I'll be able to balance myself properly and be more flexible. My body hurts and is aching from the exercise but I feel good. I feel lighter and that's what I'm aiming for.Remember when I said that my goal for the year was to go to the gym more than three times this year? I wonder if this might be considered as a trip to the gym since the class is organised by the gym and it's held in gym. What do you think?* It seems that having the extra 'fuck' in the entry just raised the rating to:Technorati

Isn't The Great Singapore Sale Over?
2007-07-04 08:58:00
My sisters and I went to the little mall where all the cheaper sporting goods are, to get a yoga mat and maybe some jersey for my sister. However, in total, we left with a yoga mat, a yoga mat bag, six pairs of jeans, four tops and three pairs of flip-flops. One hell of a shopping trip huh? I won't be able to go shopping for clothes again for the next few months *cries* but my sisters owe me unlimited food treats *cackles evilly*.I just realised today that there are so many movies that I have to catch this month, besides Harry Potter & the Order of The Phoenix:TransformersDie Hard 4.0Grindhouse: Death ProofSurf's UpBlack SheepRise: Blood HunterSo many movies, so little time. Harry Potter Month
2007-07-03 01:46:00
Things to look forward to this month:* the new Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter & the Order of The Phoenix* the last Harry Potter book: Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows:July will always be Harry Potter month since that's when the movies usually come out and when the books are out. Not only that, Harry's birthday is also in July. I'm not as interested in the series as much as I used to be but just enough to wonder and wait in anticipation for the last book. I haven't gone to any of the Harry Potter fansites since I don't really want to join in on discussing what I think will happen. That will just screw with my mind and I have more important things to do like, you know, watch DVDs and stuff like that. I have my own theories and thoughts but I'll just keep them to myself just in case that it doesn't turn out the way I think it will, at least that way I won't be humiliated. Anyway, the countdown for Harry Potter mania has started. I'm definit

Dilemma, Dilemma
2007-07-09 07:27:00
Tickets for Harry Potter & the Order of The Phoenix are now available for pre-booking. There are so many different timings on so many different days that I don't know which one to book for. Or even to book for it at all. The last time I was superbly excited about about a HP movie, HP & the Prisoner of Azkaban (PoA), the director butchered the movie almost beyond recognition and Hermione was in every single bloody scene as if the movie was actually Hermione Granger & Her Wonderful Pink Sweater. (Bitter much?) It scarred me terribly. I went to watch The Goblet of Fire (GoF) almost towards the end of the run because I was afraid that it was going to be as terrible, in my opinion, as PoA. I went in expecting to be disappointed but I'm glad that it turned out better than the third movie. GoF somewhat redeemed the movie series for me.I didn't enjoy the book as much as the rest in the series. I didn't enjoy the book version of PoA very much either and the movie was worse. I'm just afraid

Mum Update
2007-07-08 22:23:00
I realised that it's been a while since I talked about my mum. Currently, she's undergoing her weekly chemo sessions. It doesn't seem as bad as the ones that she had to go through every four weeks; those were really bad. She would shiver and have nausea the rest of the day after each session. This current dosage of chemicals make her sleep for most of the day and has slight inflammation in her joints, but generally she's alright and you can barely tell that she's sick. However, right after the trip that she took with my dad last week, she came home with very stiff muscles and she could barely stand up for long periods of time. It worries me to see her like that but I don't know how I can help her with it. I try to make sure that she does her exercises in the morning but most of the time when I leave for work, she's not up yet. So it's a little hard. She doesn't eat as much anymore due to lack of appetite. Chemotherapy does that to your taste buds. Sh

The Movie About Non-Biological Entities
2007-07-07 07:56:00
Apparently, the movie to watch this summer is Transformers. Too many people have told me to watch it, that it's the awesome of most awesome movie ever and all that. However, I don't put much stock in other people's gushing of awesomeness for movies since half the time, we have different tastes and expectations in movies. So, I had to watch it for myself before I could pass judgement. When the movie started with the sounds of them transforming, I couldn't help but smile as it reminded me of the original cartoon series; during a time when everything was simpler and so much more fun and interesting. I found the movie a little draggy in the first half but I guess the second half made up for it with fast paced action, much explosions and people running and screaming. On the whole I really liked it, much more than Spiderman 3. The dialogue may not be the best but the CGI was amazing. There were some differences that they did to the characters which I didn't like that much but I guess th

Mint tea (pun not intended) does wonders for crampiness.1. A person is a person.2. Friendship is important.3. Non Sequitur

Reading Tony Bourdain makes me hungry most of the time. Yes, after making much noise about it, I did finally get A Cook's Tour. Obsessed? Not really. I just like his sense of humour and how can I say no to people when they wax eloquently about food. Also, did I mention that this guy is funny and absolutely hilarious? If white rabbits are albino, are white ducks albino too? How about white chickens?I can do yoga in a class but doing yoga in front of my sisters gives me performance anxiety. I wonder why?I still have yet to start on OoTP. I'm supposed to be a HP fan right, but how come every time I open to the first page of the book, my eyes instantly feel sleepy? It's not like I'm reading some journal papers or anything. It's Harry Potter for heaven's sake.Technorati Tags: Miscellaneous

Teenage-angst-Harry makes reading the 5th Harry Potter book a little hard. He's so angry all the time and almost all of his dialogue are in capital letters. But I will press on. On Reading OoTP, Pt 2

Remember this? Actually I lied. I hadn't started re-reading the book yet when I wrote that entry. In actual fact, I only started last night. One thing I will never learn is NEVER TO READ A BOOK WITH MAGIC IN IT BEFORE BED. Why? I'll tell you why. No one wants to dream about running away, wand in hand, from Voldermort. Watching the making of OoTP made it a little worse. Basically, the dream was

Productive Sunday
2008-03-09 08:15:00
It's rare that I actually have a productive Sunday since most of the time, Sundays are my lazy days; days I spend vegetating in front of the TV. Today, I decided to make some home-made spinach and ricotta cheese which, by the way, can be found at my other blog. It was tasty too. Though, I did cheat a little by adding a can of canned pasta sauce to the sauce because I like a lot of sauce to go with my pasta. I'm glad that when I went to do grocery shopping for my ravioli, I wasn't sidetracked by all the other sales that were at the mall. Actually, it wasn't really because of self-control. More like I couldn't find what I wanted. Well, at least I didn't spend more than I should. So anyway, since I'm doing this learn-how-to-cook-something-new thing, I think I should set aside my Sundays as my

Has Anyone Ever Told You How Confusing The Silmarillion is?

Seriously, it's hard to keep track of all the characters. I'm not even a quarter way through the book and not only are there about at least twenty characters, they have multiple names, and the names are very similar too. I kept having to refer to the genealogy tree at the index pages, just to keep track of the main players.I've been reading it at a relatively slow pace since I only read during my commute to and from work. On top of that, I kept having to re-read passages because I didn't know where I stopped. I wonder where my bookmark went to. At least with this, I wouldn't find it so hard to figure out where I stopped. Though the last time I used it, it took too long for me to put in the bookmark at the correct line and that it kept sliding off the page that I started using it as a page

Meat Is Murder. Tasty, Tasty Murder
2008-03-06 06:40:00
So, after yesterday's monster appetite, I'm craving for roasted meat. Seriously, a thick slab of steak with mushroom sauce, a generous serving of mashed 'taters, salad with more meat bits and a bowl of creamy soup. Then throw in a slice of tiramisu and an after dinner coffee. How about a scoop of mint ice cream as well? That would be awesome. This is what I call monster appetite upsized.Photo by ulterior epicureI'm not sure if this increase in appetite is cause by the regulating chemical messengers in my body or the result of yesterday's gym session. Unexpected Meeting In The West
2008-03-04 09:07:00
To celebrate the signing of her work contract, my friend, W, and I ended up at IMM for dinner at Spaghetti Too. Guess who we met? Rinaz and her cute, little eeePC!Rinaz joined us at out table and while she and W talked, I secretly coveted the minute black computer. Actually, I've been coveting it since I first saw Rinaz's post on it. It's cute, ultra portable and most importantly, with it, I can surf the net almost anywhere. It's perfect for my Internet addiction.Anyway, I've been meaning to try out Spaghetti Too for a while and today was the perfect opportunity to do so. I had a craving for pasta but I'd already had pasta for dinner the night before so I went with the beef lasagna, while W had the crab meat linguine, with real crab meat! I liked the lasagna as they had a generous serving

Two Years (Blogging) Itch
2008-03-02 22:09:00
I'm sure you've heard of the seven year itch. I have what is termed as the two year blogging itch. I started out blogging on LiveJournal but after 2 years there with almost no complaints what so ever, I wanted something more, something different. I wanted to have more power in editting my blog layout, not that I know squat about HTML and CSS at that time. I felt the need to add cute, useless things on the sidebar, to add more links and various other things. So I moved to Blogger. In a month's time, it would be exactly two years since I started using Blogger and now I'm thinking of shifting my blog to Wordpress. I don't really have a good reason other than that's where all the cool cats are. Lame reason huh? It could be a sign of a quarter life crisis, changing blogs every few years but I d

Movies On A Dull Saturday
2008-03-01 09:10:00
A dull Saturday could only be cured by watching a movie. However, the movie, Jumper, didn't blow me away. It just blows actually. The effects were cool, Hayden Christensen was gorgeous but the plot was just... meh. There wasn't enough back story to satisfy my curiosity and imagination. On top of that, I didn't even get to see Hayden Christensen naked! Gah! What's the use of baiting me with a cute guy, only let me see only his topless self from the back? Sheesh! Then of course, there's the DVD purchases after the movie to tie me over until my Amazon delivery comes in. I got Out Of Time and Stardust. I've never seen either but anything with Denzel Washington would definitely be good. I read Stardust and wasn't too impressed with the book since it was too short and not enough details in it. Th

Nude Mice Are Actually Nude!
2008-02-28 01:55:00
Not that they don't wear clothes (since mice don't actually wear clothes in the first place and Mickey and Minnie don't count). What I meant was that they're hairless. Take a look:So, what exactly are nude mice? According to Wikipedia and MedicineNet.com, nude mice are mutants that do not have a thymus, which is an organ that helps with the immune system. By not having a thymus, the mice are immuno-deficient, meaning that they can't fight of infections. They get sick and die very easily.I've never seen these up close until today and I can tell you that not only do they look pathetic, they can't even be classified as cute; all naked and wrinkly. The last time I saw them, it was only from afar and that was many years ago. At that time, I thought that they looked like minute armadillos, so se

Dear Self,

What the hell is going on?! In the past ten days, you've only had dinner on three days and you've refused to have dinner the rest of the six days. Are you trying to hurt/maim/kill me? You starting to have the early symptoms of gastric and yet you still refuse to eat. And don't you blame it on the House dvds because this started way before those dvds arrived. There's so much food in the house and you just refuse to eat. You'd rather go to sleep starving that to take a walk into the kitchen and eat something. Also, what's up with the panic attacks? I know that the panic attacks are just small, mild ones that no one notices but what if it gets worse? You need to do something about it. You better not have one tomorrow because poking yourself with a syringe full of cancer cells; not a good idea.
