Fiction Friday: #1
2007-03-08 17:41:00
Ok, I finally finished the fic. It's been a long, busy week so I didn't get anything written until yesterday. Anyway, here's the list of the items to be included: * cigarettes on a cold/rainy day * puddles of watter on the streets after the rain * incomplete sudoku puzzle, filled out in blue and red ink * a broken mug * an earring - one of a pair * standing in the streets with a cup of coffee in

Food Galore. Again.
2007-03-10 02:08:00
It's been such a long week for everyone that the only way that we know how to unwind and decompress was to eat. Lunch was had at Raj, a nearby Indian vegetarian restaurant. The food was satisfying and oh, so filling. Due to the fact that it was vegetarian, by knock off time we were hungry. So we went to town for dinner so that a colleague could pick up her camera. Dinner was at Ayam Bakar

Food Talk. Again. And Again.
2007-03-11 14:28:00
The dinner at Carousel last night was amazing. I couldn't believe the amount of variety they had at the buffet but then, the last time I was there, I wasn't even 17 yet. Rows and rows of Asian and Western food. Rows and rows of mouth-watering, colourful food that I wish I could have tried at least one of everything. I started with sushi, followed by cheese and crackers. The cold salads were not

Living Healthier
2007-03-13 11:39:00
Living straight edge seems interesting and healthy. Come to think about it, I'm living the straight edge life right now; no drugs, no alcohol and no tobacco. No promiscuous sex either. Though this doesn't mean that I'm at the peak of health. Ever since my mum got sick, it bothered me a lot when I realised that as slim as I look, I don't actually have a healthy lifestyle. Lately, I'm looking for

I Have A Confession
2007-03-18 08:30:00
I've never been to Little India. Seriously, I haven't! I mean, I've passed it but never through it. When the Chief Foodie suggested that we go to Little India for some lovely North Indian cuisine, I was reluctant to go due to the reputation that I've heard that place has. But I'm glad I did. Also, we were going to Mustaffa Center (another place I've never been to) after dinner so I definitely had

Hey look! Three posts in a day! I think you would have already noticed that I changed the layout of the blog. Again. I'm not sure if any of the three of you remembered, but I've actually used this layout before. I just thought that the previous one was a little too happy and fussy for me. Now this one, fits with my mood and it's simpler too. No happy, happy colours or a happy, happy picture. Just

Second Post Of The Day
2007-03-21 03:11:00
I already did a wordless post but I just want to do another post. With words this time. Let's see what's been going on in my life: Increasing severity of headaches/migraines - Two days in a row isn't fun but at least Ibuprofen is taking the edge off Lack of appetite - Even when I'm hungry, and I'm hungry all the time. Memory loss - Seriously, I have to stop and think before I recall the

When You Love Someone
2007-03-29 15:22:00
You want the best for them, even if it means that your heart hurts because you know how much it means for them to go to grad school. Even if you want to cry, to make them understand that you don't want them to go, to make them stay here with you, you know you can't. And you wouldn't because love isn't just about being together, it's also about compromise and some sacrifices. Somethings don't come easy, so the hardship/inconvenience just makes you treasure it more. You'll slap on a happy face and try not to cry when you send them off at the airport, even though you know that you'll cry anyway, and embarrass yourself and them. You just hope that they'll be safe and happy, and that they won't forget about you.Sigh. Long-distance relationships suck eggs.

My First Love Story
2007-03-31 02:14:00
I caught Mukhsin last night after a long wait for it to play in Singapore. I had a rough idea what the movie was about, first love. What I didn't expect was to be assailed with memories of the first boy I thought I loved. At the tender age of ten, what does one know about love or even affection between the sexes. All I knew was that he was cute, in a geeky/jock way. He was my classmate for three years but we rarely even talked. Every thing that was said went through a go-between, a mutual friend who sat beside him. Like all puppy love, it didn't last long. He's happily married now and I'm dating a wonderful, wonderful man. When I think back of that time in my life, I couldn't believe how silly and naive I was. But then, all kids (and even some adults) have more than their share of silly moments. It's just a fact of life.Technorati Tags: Life

Hollowed Out Heart
2007-04-01 15:31:00
The Significant Other left this morning and has arrived at his destination safely. I'm very proud of myself that I could say good bye with dignity, that is as much dignity as one can with a red nose and red, tear-filled eyes. Of course, most of the tears were shed yesterday. He made it easy to compose myself too, with only a small hug and some pats on the shoulder. If he'd actually given me the bear hug I wanted, I think I would have flooded the airport.Anyway, he's safe and healthy, and that is all that matters. The count down for his return has begun.

The Old Gang
2007-04-07 17:08:00
Meeting up with old friends is fun. You get to catch up and not only talk about the good old days but also what your plans are for the future. Though not all of the old gang was present today, the mood was still as jovial and fun-loving as ever. Sitting there and listening to my friends talk, I realised how far we've come since graduation. We weren't as noisy and as rowdy as we used to be, fortunately. It would have been really odd to see a group of people in their mid-twenties talking superbly loud, making coarse, off-colour jokes and the like. We don't even shop as much as we used to, preferring to hang out at the bookstore or even a coffee joint than walking up and down the whole mall to look at every single thing.Much food, much tea/coffee was had by all. Discussions ranged from what happens after grad school, plagiarism and what comic books were best. We don't usually meet very often but when we do, it's a riot. It's going to be a while longer till the next meet but I just h

I Did It!
2007-04-10 14:41:00
Remember this? The one where I said that I want to go to the gym more than 3 times a year? Well, I did it! Today is the fourth time and I've managed to reach my goal. Though that doesn't mean that I'll stop going altogether after this. In fact, I have to go to the gym more often (which does not mean to go to the gym once a month).I'm so totally out of shape. I could barely do all of my reps fully and I didn't push myself as hard as I should. May be because I was feeling a little lazy and that my lunch (and tea) threatened to make a return visit. So one thing I learned from this is not to have a heavy meal followed by tea before going to the gym. The girls at work and I are planning to eat healthier lunches but we'll see how long that lasts. We love our food too much to restrict it to just the healthy stuff.Technorati Tags: Health

Family Outing
2007-04-15 03:49:00
Yesterday was the first time we went out as a family in months. The last family outing was two weeks before my mum's major surgery. With her chemo sessions and the down time she has after each session makes it hard for us to go out. I haven't really seen my mum enjoy herself as much in a long while, so having this time to go out as a family was good for her. We did some shopping, mostly clothes for my mum since she's lost a lot of weight after the surgery. My sisters bought some clothes for school too and I even got myself a pair of pants that actually are loose. Most of my pants are tight now and I'm ashamed to say that I've gotten a little fat.We always have so much food when ever we go out as a family and yesterday wasn't any different.I was so full that I had to wait for at least and hour or so before I could go to bed. But seeing my mum happy and enjoying herself made it all worth it. I just wish that we could do it more often for her.Technorati Tags: Daily Life

Sick
2007-04-16 15:03:00
Runny nose, check.Blocked nose, check.Slight fever, check.Cough, check.Sore throat, check. It's never fun being sick, despite the fact that you get a day off from work. It just throws the whole week out of whack. The days will get jumbled up and you wake up in the morning disoriented and confused, not knowing what day it is. The only good thing about getting sick is that the drugs are awesome. They make you sleep most of the day and if you take it just before bedtime, you fall into a deep, deep sleep that is hard to come out of the next morning, leaving you with a slightly high and happy feeling. On top of it all, it's that time of month.Technorati Tags: Daily Life

Something From The Archives

I was going through my LiveJournal archives and found an interesting meme that I did a while back.1. Go into your archive.2. Find your 23rd post.3. Find your 5th sentence (or closest to it.)4. Post the text of your sentence in this post along with these instructions.5. Tag 5 people for it.Post #23, 16th May 2006It never occurred to me that I wouldn't get in but not having my name on any papers published during my three years working under my boss, may have count for much of their decision.Hmmm.... Is this a sign of some sort? May be, May be not. I'm going into my fifth year here and so far, all I've got is some skills, including some new ones I just learnt, and nothing to show for it. On the bright side though, the newly acquired skills have been interesting to do and learn. It's been a while since I'd done anything new and it's always good to learn new things. It gets the mind working and flowing, so you wouldn't stagnate.I hope that there are bigger and better things coming m

SALE!
2007-04-20 16:16:00
Why Bodyshop Is EvilSweetly scented lotions and colourful bath/shower foam packaged nicely, all going on sale for up to 60% off. How can I resist, even though I've already thrown money into their hands yesterday for the make-up brush bag and the eyeshadow brush? So many things to choose from; body wash, make-up, body lotions, make-up, perfume, make-up and their gifts sets. And the make up.... Ok, so the make-up selection wasn't very much, just mostly eyeshadow in every colour known to woman and lipsticks in shades far too dark for me.I didn't really need anything from the sale but what ever I came away with (two bottles of limited edition shower foam, relaxing body lotion, lip & cheek stain and lip conditioner), was far less than what I would have gotten if I didn't have any self-control. But truth be told, that was all that caught my eye. They didn't have the items that I love, like their limited edition make-up sets, the Oceanus line items and the Cassis Rose shower foam/body lot

Iconic Love
2007-04-22 09:53:00
Having nothing to do this weekend had made me realise what I've missed on LiveJournal. The communities there provide such entertainment and gave me something to do on a boring weekend. Besides all those wonderful Harry Potter het/slash smut and porn fan fiction and art, there's ljsecret, the LJ equivalent of PostSecret and the various icon communities. That's where I got this icon. *points to Dean icon* Dean Winchester is just so utterly hot. I'm still waiting for the second season of Supernatural to be released on DVD here. Hopefully it'll be soon. I've read some of the spoilers but nothing beats watching the episode for real. I think Sam finally gets laid in the second season but with who? How do the brothers deal with their dad's death and what other ghoulish things to they encounter? I look forward to the second season with such impatience. Other than looking for icons and looking at other people's secrets, I had a Star Wars movie marathon; Empire Strikes Back followed by Re

Finding A Little Happiness
2007-04-24 15:08:00
A conversation with a colleague earlier today lifted some of my negative mood. She had a point when she said that one shouldn't peg their happiness on anyone other then their self because then, we won't be happy at all. So, since the main reason for happiness is too far away, I'm going to find other little sources of happiness.1. I heard that exercise releases endorphins, giving you a high and making you happy, so I should try to get to the gym more often. Will start on that next week because this week, I want to catch up on my bumming around quota.2. Eating healthier, including more fruits in my diet. Constipation = NOT HAPPY!3. I should make more effort to go out with my friends because it's no fun being cooped up at home for a too long period of time. Besides, they're fun and always keep me entertained.4. Watch more movies! Nothing like spending at a few hours in the dark, absorbing a good movie.5. I should spend more time with my immediate family. You know, cultivate that fami

Guess What?!
2007-04-28 12:41:00
Today marks my third year in the blogosphere. In 2004, on this day, I created my first blog on LiveJournal. It wasn't until a month later that I posted up my very first blog post since I couldn't figure out how to change/manipulate the blog template into the way I wanted. Here's what my first very first entry* was like:My first entry. I finally managed to figure out how to put colour in my back ground. Anyway, the week has been rather good. This week has been like a movie marathon with Van Helsing on Monday, Troy on Thursday and Shrek 2 on Friday. I wish I could take half day off everyday but that's just hopeful wishing. It's Sunday and I have to get back to work tomorrow.... Sigh.... So many things to do in such little time. It got slightly overwhelming when I was given a new project to do on top of the ones already have but I'll just have to cope if I want to get another rise and bonus next year.It really sucks being an adult since you have to think about the job, money and oth
