Happy Monday! Link-o-Rama

Photograph from Hollywood Lost and FoundHope everyone had a great weekend. Mr. Fruitfly and I had dinner Friday night at Bahooka in Rosemead, CA. The food and service were great but the atmosphere is what it's all about, like out of a movie. On our way out we noticed that Bahooka has been in a few movies including one of our favorites Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Worth checking out if you live in the San Gabriel Valley. The Closet EntrepreneurThe Closet Entrepreneur has 12 business card displays that I found through the Craft blog.Photograph from The Museum of LondonFor all my readers in the U.K., the Museum of London is hosting Create @ Late. It will be a light hearted evening of crafts, drinks, and fellowship. What more could you need?Photograph from Flickr Memeber melissastanly72

Style Wars RIP Frosty Freeze and Tony Silver
2008-04-23 13:17:00
Old movies like Breakfast at Tiffany's, Easy Rider, and Saturday Night Fever are windows into the state of mind of its youth and the fashion of its time. Breakfast with its post-war 50's "let the good times roll" youthful possibility. Elegant, tailored, and timeless. While Easy Rider was a reaction against that sensibility. Or maybe it was the dancing that was reaction to the changing community. Those movies are still influencing American style.Another movie that needs to be added to this list is Style Wars. During the late 1970's, New York City was finishing up the Disco and Punk movements, what sprung out of that was hip-hop. If you take som

Urban Homesteaders
2008-04-22 21:24:00
Photograph from the Path to FreedomStumbling through the Internets recently led me to the Path to Freedom blog. The site is maintained by the Darvis family from Pasadena, CA where they grow 6,000 lbs of produce a year on a pretty normal size lot. How is that even possible? This "urban homestead" is close to my house, I wonder if they would let me stop by and take pictures? Hum mm.

It's Hot! Time for Skirts
2008-04-28 15:35:00
I know most parts of the country are enjoying cool spring temperature but in Pasadena this past weekend it was triple digits. Time to start wearing skirts. Ludicrous Louisa from Craftster created this skirt using a tutorial from indie tutes. I love how she set up the shot, very cool.

Mildred Loving Rest in Peace
2008-05-06 13:56:00
Photograph from WikipediaThis year marks the 41th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia which made it possible for all (straight) Americans to marry outside of their race. To commemorate the occasion, every year on June 12th is Loving Day, cities all over the country celebrate the Loving family and the sacrifices they made so that all (straight) Americans can love and marry openly. Below is an excerpt of a statement Mildred gave to mark the 40th anniversary of the case. "The older generation’s fears and prejudices have given way, and today’s young people realize that if someone loves someone they have a right to marry. Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant
