Sony Ericsson Z710i Review 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Recently I had the opportunity of using one of the latest clamshell model from SonyEricsson
, the z710i. The z710i carries the same design and specifications of the walkman phone w710i without any sporty features like pedometer and calorie counter. This phone comes in 2 colours-Twilight Black and Metallic sand. The model I used was the Metallic sand one. The exterior finishes have been superb with a metallic colour band around the top portion of the phone. The Z710i meaures 88 X 48 X 24.5 mm and weighs 101 gms.The handset's major attraction is its external display which is 26 X 26 mm. Its a monochrome display with blue backlight. When closed this displays the phone status, calender events etc. When the media player and radio is running, this screen displays the track details. The fonts in this display is also impressive. On the front side we have the 2MP camera encircled with a metallic ring. Side mount button have volume rocker keys, slider control to lock the phone and also media pla Read more:Sony Ericsson

My New Template ! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Today I changed my blogger template to new one. I didnt have any idea of changing the template, but while googling , I found a website which had a good collection of free blogger templates. I was quick to spot this template and found it very attractive. But the header images were entirely different from the one I'm using right now. Since I didnt want those images to be displayed, so I did a bit of editing the template. The fonts and styles were also a bit different from what I have now. Also, I added my own CSS styles and fonts. The current template is a 3 column design, so I had more options to include my add-ons into the blog. After adding all items into the blog, I feel this template is quite attractive and better than the old one I was using....More Templates are available @ http://www.isnaini.com/blogger-templatesTo customize the my template - http://www.isnaini.com/blogger-templates/comptech-blueTechnorati tags: Blogger, BloggerTemplates

How real are they? 1970-01-01 00:59:59 With reality shows making roads into the TV channels, the big question is how real are they? We all know that these shows are here to entertain people and also a larger part of audience are very much adicted to these shows. The popular show of UK, the Big Brother was in news recently, I'm not sure what to make of since I don't know how British television works. But what's up with that Big Brother show in England? They actually have real stars on that show? A racist insult took place in that show, apparently a British actress upset all of India by what she said to one of India's big stars on the show, Shilpa Shetty. Its popular Indian version was launched on Nov 3rd 2006 called the BiGG BOSS, with major Bollywood and soap stars participating in the show. With all these entertainment provided by these shows, I guess there should some amount of control on what they show the viewers and there should be a line of control which should not be crossed by the actors...!
In search of RAM ! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Last weekend was a long one and I had decided to go home for some work related to the construction of our new house at Kochi. I reached Kochi by 26th morning 7am and we had a good round of discussion regarding the plan of the house. There were a few minor changes also decided to keep the contruction cost low. The cost had gone well beyond our estimate and we were planning to somehow reduce it, although considerable reduction was not possible. After deciding the changes, I decided to Google out few building contractors in and around Kochi. So I switched on my PC and it took nearly 10 minutes to boot up the PC! Imagine waiting in front of PC for 10 minutes to boot up! It was running on a 128 MB RAM for quite some period now since the other 128 MB had gone out of work. I was getting frustrated with the speed of the PC. It was taking 2-3 minutes to recognize a double click, can you believe that? Even the 512 MB RAM in my office PC was showing signs of slowness sometimes, so imagine the cond
Second life! 1970-01-01 00:59:59 In my previous post I had mentioned the pathetic state of my computer running on a 128 MB RAM. So last weekend when I went home, I had made up my mind to upgrade it at any cost. So I phoned my father on Friday morning and asked him to enquire the price and purchase a new 256 MB RAM. By Friday evening my father called me up and told that 128 MB was around 800 Rs, so I told him to get this one instead of going for a 256 MB. The benefit of purchasing the 128 is that the existing RAM would still be usable.I went home by 11.00 pm train on Fri and reached home by 8.00 am. I was quick to spot the newly purchased RAM and without wasting any more time, I installed it into my computer. I could see the difference just by the time it took for booting, it was very quick. Now the long wait for a double click was over. For many now the 256 MB RAM would be insufficient, but for me it was more than enough. Imagine working on a PC that take time for each click. I had removed almost all the softwares to Read more:Second
Some Things to Cheer About 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Last weekend I went home mainly for 2 purposes, one being my sister's birthday on 8th Feb. I have purchased a gift for her-Brand new Sony Ericsson z710i (Read my review of the phone here). Soon after I reached there I handed over the gifts, the mobile was fully covered in gift wrapper and in the wildest of dreams she never imagined that it would be a mobile phone. Once she opened the gift she was really shocked to see the gift and she was really happy about the gift. It had been quite a time since she was asking about purchasing a new mobile, so I decided to get it for her birthday and it was the best gift I could get for her. The gift also contained a dress which was purchased from Mangalore. The second reason for going home was the starting of construction of our new house at Maradu (5-6 km from Kochi). By 10.00 am the contractor, whom we had given the construction of house, came to out house to discuss about the happenings and update about the details. We also made a few changes to Read more:Cheer

A Trip to Malabar 1970-01-01 00:59:59 It has been quite a long time since I visited Malabar. For those who have not heard about the word Malabar, its the northern part of Kerala (India). The Northern stretch of Kerala as a whole is said as the Malabar Region. Malabar is also my home town, where my grandmother stays. I decided to give her a visit last week. So Saturday early morning I reached Mangalore Railway station and boarded the Mangalore-Chennai Egmore Express. The train started by 6.40 am, late by 10 minutes. I took a single seat as i knew there would be heavy rush once it reaches Kerala, so I would be on the safe side taking the single seat. It has been a long time since I traveled by train during day time. Generally I take the train when I go to Kochi and that would be by the night train. Traveling through Malabar region during the day time was a great experience with the lot of beaches and rivers on the way.Few snaps of MalabarI took few snaps of the greenery and rivers along this coastal area. By 9.15 am, the tr
Promoting Vista 1970-01-01 00:59:59 The new Windows Vista
Campaign and promotions seems to be picking up fast. Yesterday I went to Cafe Coffee day outlet and I was surprised to see Vista posters and cards everywhere in the restaurant. Bigger surprise came when the waiter handed the menu card to me, another Vista card. The menu was in the form of the windows logo and had lot of promotions for Vista and titled-"Windows Vista, the WOW starts now" CCD's New Menu CardEven after opening the card there were logos everywhere inside it. There's a new item in the menu called Windows Vista WOWffee priced @ 40/-. But what is the connection between these two? Microsoft seems to be so desperate to sell Vistas, but lets wait and see how popular Vista is going to be. With the Vista launched last month, we can expect more of such promotions and campaigns in the coming months.Technorati tags: Microsoft, Vista, CafeCoffeeDay

Windows Vienna to follow Vista 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Windows Vienna
is the new codename for Windows Blackcomb the successor to Windows Vista
. Not much is known about Blackcomb officially and Microsoft has not given any details about ViennaWhile Windows Vista is intended to be a technologies-based release, with some UI changes (in the form of the Aero set of technologies and guidelines), Vienna is targeted directly at revolutionizing the way we interact with our home and office PCs. For instance, the "Start" philosophy, introduced in Windows 95, may be completely replaced by a "new interface" which was said in 1999 to be scheduled for Blackcomb, before being moved to the Longhorn project, and then back to Blackcomb. The interface involved some ideas based upon truely 3D Windows and an intergration of what is now known as Sidebar. The Explorer shell is expected to be replaced in its entirety, with features such as the taskbar being replaced by a new concept based on the last 10 years of research from Microsoft's "Vibe" lab. The Spectrum War-3G 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Whats 3G ?3G or third generation mobile networks allow mobile service providers to provide high bandwidth data applications and allow for better utilization of the frequecy spectrum. What is all the fuzz about? Many people in the governmen believe that lot of money can be made by auctioning the 3G spectrum which was done in countries like UK and Germany. But the major operators in India like Airtel believe that 3G auctioning will result in massive auction fees and lead to unviable service offering. They believe that the allotment should be made based on the subscriber base which will benefit Airtel, BSNL and Reliance. This will also lead to lower tariff rates and also allow India to leap ahead in 3G usage. The final decision in this regard will be taken by DoT in February. And finally 3G will be available in India this yearTechnorati tags: 3G Read more:Spectrum

Staying Alive In a Software Job 2007-03-02 06:32:00 Recently I came across this interesting article written by Harshad Oak. He writes about the state of software industry in India and how to survive in this cramped work culture. The solutions which he suggest also seems very much realistic in nature. Here is the article: Before I started working for myself, I spent some years in some of the top IT companies in India and still have many friends working in various software companies. I wrote a blog recruiting like crazy, about the same time last year about how Indian companies are recruiting like there's no tomorrow and the possible consequences. However I was avoiding writing this particular piece as it seems like an unpatriotic thing to do, to tell the world how bad the working conditions in software companies in India have become. And there's always the risk of excerpts being used out of context to bash up IT in India . I am now writing this because I just keep hearing horror tales from the industry and it doesn't seem like anyth Read more:Alive

Yet another weekend ! 2007-03-04 07:47:00 Yet another weekend is passing by and time is nearing for the big occasion....This weekend was pretty similar like any other weekend, watching movies, roaming, some small shoppings etc. This weekend I went for 2 movies. One was the latest movie from Ram Gopal Verma-Nishabd. This is said to be inspired from Hollywood film Lolita. The movie is a short one and seems to be lacking the punch. The first half is pretty dragging and second half is the place where actually the film talks about all relationships. (Rating: 2/5)The second movie which I saw was Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Its a fun filled movie telling the story of six couples on a honeymoon vacation. Though there is not much in the story, the way it is presented to the audience makes it watchable. (Rating: 3/5)Next weekend I'll be going to Kochi with lots of work to complete before the big occasion... :-)
Me and My blog 2007-03-03 08:29:00 Of late I have been blogging more on technology?? I started this blog as my personal blog 1.5 years back, but then...when did I shift to technology? My craze for Internet and computers has made me write more of these stuffs. I read a lot of technical blogs and try to find out lot of stuffs though surfing. So the question in my mind was whether to maintain my blog as technical one or a personal one? Finally I decided to have a mixture of both. Last week I was supposed to get released from the current project I was doing, but my allocation was extended for another 2 weeks since testing is going on. Everyone seems to believe that software life always busy and hectic, but I take it in a different way. Even when I'm having busy work schedules I always try to find out time to do things which I enjoy. My life in software field has been very good and its always the way you make things happen in life. Life is calling! Where are you? or it can also be Life is calling! make it happen ! :-)
My blog went down ! 2007-03-05 05:20:00 Today morning when I checked my blog it was not loading properly, only the first panel was loading till the site visitors. The postings were not at all visible. I tried to refresh my blog several times and nothing changed. It was difficult to check what was wrong with the template just by looking at the code, so I decided to use my old template and check it. Again it was loading till the site visitors details. There was some problem with the site visitor counter which was provided by GoStats. So I got the code again from their site, but the error was still there. So finally I decided to remove the site counter and replace it with another one from Hit-Counter. Finally my blog is up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Blogger vs Wordpress 2007-03-06 05:10:00 It has been 1.5 years since I started using Blogger
as my blogging platform and I should say I'm pretty happy with their service. Recently I read lot of articles pointing out the disadvantages of using Blogger when compared to Wordpress
. To investigate how better is Wordpress compared to Blogger, I decided to get a Wordpress blog for me. My new Wordpress blog is nirmaltv.wordpress.com. Since the Blogger service is completely free, I'm just comparing the free service offered by Wordpress with Blogger.Firstly, one good thing I found for Wordpress blogs is that new pages can be added to the blog, but this feature is not available in Blogger. This is a feature I really wanted in Blogger, may be they will implement in future.Secondly for creating a new post, I think Blogger is better than Wordpress because they offer lot more options on font, size and colors. Although color and font options are available in Wordpress, one has to code this manually in code section.Another important thing
