New Camera Pics 2008-04-17 01:00:00 I took a few impromptu pictures with the camera as you can take 10 pics or so without a memory card. So here are a few. There are so many settings on my camera that it is insane and I'm still working on figuring it all out! But these are a few that turned out decent (aka not blurry)! The best way to see the pics is to click on them and they become HUGE, otherwise they look the same as my other camera's pics.Abby eating stir fry... Daddy wants to make sure everyone knows HE took the picture! My wedding set. A little blurry and I didn't have black cloth. I don't wear my wedding ring because my fingers are still a little plump. Don't worry! I'm working on it!!! The diamonds form a flower and then there are some little baguettes and round diamonds along the curved side. The wedding band is sau Read more:Camera
Do you ever... 2008-04-16 21:54:00 ... talk with your children in your head? I mean your children in the future... like when they're teens! I have to admit I do that quite often. I'm not insane or crazy. I just envision having certain conversations or debates with them and then try to figure out how I'd deal with that situation. I'm not worrying when I do it, it's just what I do!Anyway, had to wonder if I'm not the only kooky one out there!
Busy Bees 2008-04-16 13:13:00 Spring is [finally] in the air!!! It's so lovely outside but... I feel a little sleepy. I had to go to the ER last night because of some symptoms that made me nervous. My sister thought the symptoms lined up with meningitis (which they do) but I didn't have enough symptoms for the ER to do a (GULP) spinal tap. They gave me muscle relaxers and now my neck feels better. It had been really stiff and painful. So I'm sleepy. The nurse (who was actually a very nice guy with a black eye---hey a rhyme!) told me the pill would make me feel hungover in the morning. It didn't, but it was really hard for me to wake up.Anyway, onto other news... we went out Monday evening to Walmart (yay) and we were passing by some construction. Elaina saw this truck scooping up dirt and she pointed and said, "Yook! Th
Chair Rail and Pink! 2008-04-14 11:20:00 This is a chair rail. You can do all different sorts of designs, widths, etc. In this particular picture they also made a little box with wood, under the chair rail. The chair rail basically is a decorative touch that divides the top of the wall with the bottom. You can put them as high or as low as you want! This photo was taken from photobucket and is not mine. These are the master bedroom colors I'm considering. The accent colors on the left did not transger well via photograph!!! They're more like creams. And here are the pinks. My favorite right now is the 4th pink card over, middle color. It's called My Fair Lady and it's a Behr paint (my fave paint to use). And the accent color will be the very last black on the very last card shown.Obviously the colors look a tad different in real li Read more:Chair
I got punched in the nose!!! 2008-04-12 23:41:00 The lights are dim, you're gazing into your honey's eyes, and BAM! You see stars! Because you just got punched
in the nose!!! Yes, that happened to me tonight. Welcome to Cycle #3 of TTC! Ha!!! And of course he punched (on ACCIDENT) the nose ring so my nose started bleeding from a little gash on the inside. My poor husband was so sorry he couldn't even say anything. He was just gaping at me. So what do I do? I bust up LAUGHING! There are just some things that are too funny to ignore. And that was one of them. It is definitely one "romantic" night I won't forget! I'm a very temperamental person so I think Daniel was relieved that I found it humorous.Today we went to Ho.me De.pot and used part of our tax return to get a new lawn mower, something we truly need! And then two ceiling fans that w
I just need God to pour out a blessing! 2008-04-11 23:31:00 We had a guy come and give us an estimation on putting siding, gutters, soffit/fascia, window eaves on our house... *GULP* We were quoted an astonishing $45,000 to do the work. After some negotiation we talk him down to $31,800 which is still more than half our mortgage (we bought our house as a foreclosure, which is why the small price for such a large house).Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I feel like puking. How on earth can we afford this? Obviously God is the ONLY provider for this family. I have to just take deep gulps of air and process all of this. Of course he wanted us to sign TODAY and we told him, "Nay!" I am the one who always jumps the gun but Daniel put his foot down. If I had my way I would've yelled "Yes" and signed the paper because I know we have to get this work done. The financing pap Read more:blessing
From Elaina To You 2008-04-10 16:51:00
Elaina and I were goofing off in my room and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, she started singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" BY HERSELF! So I bribed her with a movie in order to catch this on video. Other Notes on Today:Our Tax Return came!!! We did the direct deposit because you get it faster. Good bye credit card debt!Went on a 50 minute walk in the cloudy weather. It was windy today but glorious! It was not cold at all. Every now and then little raindrops would fall on us. It was so beautiful. Flowers are blooming everywhere. Dishes done and only one basket of laundry left to fold!KIDS: I'm having a hard time weaning Abby off of her bottles. She refuses to even touch her sippy cup. She throws it and screams, "Nuh, nuh, nuh!" (instead of "No"). And they are silicone, soft nipp
TTC Cycle #3 2008-04-08 22:28:00 Alright! AF has ended... normally!!! If you recall (maybe you don't because I don't remember if I mentioned this or not) my periods have been lasting two weeks. Like the actual period, not the cycle. Two entire weeks of light to spotty bleeding. Today is CD5 and the bleeding stopped YESTERDAY! That's only FOUR DAYS! WOO HOO! That's normal! Okay, okay, okay... I've got to breathe now. I'm just excited. I'm due to ovulate, based on MyMonthlyCycle
s and FertilityFriend on or about April 20th but that doesn't seem right. So I'm obviously not listening to a machine. I'll listen to my body! Because apparently my body is doing what it is supposed to now! Come on CM! PLEASE!!!So here is a shot from my night tonight:It's rare they both look at the camera and this shot is so stinkin' cute I can hardl

End Times and Oprah? 2008-04-06 21:54:00 Christians, we must open our eyes to see and our ears to hear. This little clip is only 3-5 minutes long and will have you so astounded and dumbfounded you won't believe it! It's the craziest thing I've heard in a long, long time. It involved Oprah
Winfrey and the New Age book she is raving about called "The New Earth" (which in my personal opinion was taken right from the Bible/Revelation for their OWN use). not looking for criticism, arguments, debates... save that for YouTube.I have been involved in the occult and I have been on both sides of the arguments. But never have I seen so many misled and distracted from God. This is probably breaking God's heart. And yet is so necessary to fulfill prophecy. What's funny is how much they use God's Word for THEIR purpose (instead of His) and yet Read more:Times
Abortion 2008-04-05 21:32:00 Sticky subject, I know... but I had to post a few links. I always find people who are on the fence about abortion, struggling with understanding that there is a baby and life in the balance and yet wanting the woman to have a right. Well we cannot and should not ride the fence. I'm not telling anyone to think like me (you all know my viewpoint) so instead I encourage you to educate yourself on the issue and then make a decision: Pro-Life or Pro-Choice.First of all, pro-choice is a position that favors the mother. You take the baby out of the equation and just focus on, "The woman has a freedom to make her own choice."And pro-life is the position that favors both mother and baby. You understand that there is a life, abortion is murder, and that the woman will suffer extreme emotional distre
It's a new day! 2008-04-05 21:07:00 Well today is much better. Not pain-wise, but emotionally. I have no doubt in my mind anymore about what started yesterday. I don't believe it was a miscarriage whatsoever. And I just want to thank everyone who gave their sympathies and information (especially Becky who wrote me a gigantic, informative email!!!)! I of course feel like a poo for my completely mental breakdown over it, but oh well! I'm allowed to have a few of those days each year!!!We went to my 2nd cousin's 1st birthday party today. Elaina decided she was going to take over and ripped open all of her gifts for her and then when the Daddy brought out a huge red wagon gift, Elaina promptly jumped on in! *SIGH* What to do?! And of course everyone kept saying, "Oh she's fine, she's fine!" but when it's YOUR child, you feel a b
Miscarriage 2008-04-04 22:40:00 This morning I thought I was miscarrying. I woke up with this nasty wet feeling. Now my AF is usually spotting/light, right? Well this was a flood of bright red. I didn't even react. I had absolutely no reaction. I just changed quickly, got my girls fed, made some oatmeal for myself, and got on here to message my sister. And to throw this unfair, unpredicted circumstance into cyber-space on a forum that I frequent. Some women kept telling me, "It's probably not a m/c, Joy! You need to call your doc!" But I felt so angry at them, at me, at the whole darn thing. Finally after lunch I left a message with my nurse. All day long I have been struggling with this awful backpain, cramps like after-birth, headaches, general nauseous feeling, and with my emotional struggle to FEEL something. When I fi
Terrifying News 2008-04-02 21:45:00 A man was shot in the doorway of an apartment that is just a hop and skip away from us. Just two lots away from our house. If you're driving onto my block you'll see the apartment building, then 2 apartments that share a lot and then my house.I was getting the kids ready to go out to the store. As I pull out of the driveway I hear sirens and I could tell they were coming our way and turning onto the street of the apartments (they actually face a side street, so they're on the corner). I didn't pay much attention to it and kept driving. That's when I found the antique piece that I wrote about in my previous post.Once I got that in the van, I decided to take it home and get it out of the car. This time when I left the house, I drove the opposite direction, toward the apartment building. I sa Read more:Terrifying
Another sideboard? 2008-04-02 18:53:00 It is the beginning of the month again, which means "bulky pickup"... which means people put their huge pieces of trash by the side of the road (furniture, couches, major appliances, etc.)! So I'm just driving along and what do I see sitting under a pile of junk? An antique piece of furniture from the 20's or 30's, commonly known as Arts and Crafts period.A lot of the veneer is chipping and warped so I plan to strip the pieces that are already warped and coming off and then use a wood putty to smooth in those spaces so that the veneer is even and you don't see gaps (kind of like when you put spackling over a hole in the wall and then sand it smooth). After that is complete I plan to prime and paint the piece with browns and golds to give it a very antique feel. The drawers need work done, w

Ahhhhhh... silence! 2008-03-31 13:01:00 Do you hear that? It's the sound of... nothing. Elaina is with Nonna and her cousin today. *SIGH* I love my little girl but boy did I need a little respite! So Abigail and I took a very long, strenuous walk today, I've got the dishes cleaned, rearranged my cabinets, laundry going... and I'm about to go take a nice hot shower, get dressed in some fresh clothes and just...... I don't even know. I guess whatever happen next depends on if Abigail wakes up from her nap or not!I am so READY FOR SPRING! I hear birds chirping outside (so I guess it isn't totally silent) and on the walk the sun was peeking behind clouds and there were a few tiny little raindrops here and there throughout the walk, the wind was blowing but not cold, grass is turning bright green, people outside working in their yard Read more:silence
TAG YOU'RE IT! 2008-03-29 22:04:00 I just got tagged! Mel tagged me and here are the rules:Link to the person who tagged you.Post the rules.Share six non-important habits/quirks about yourself.Tag three other people.1). In the 3rd grade there was a girl that I liked (not in a gross way, just in a "I want to be your friend" kind of way). And she popped her knuckles. So I started to do the same and to this day I can't stop. So I've been doing that for 14 years. It is bad, awful, disgusting, annoying!!! Help me, Jesus!2). I eat ketchup on a ton of stuff! I eat it on scrambled eggs, macaroni-n-cheese, and pizza... Every single time I do it, my MIL looks at me and says, "Girl, we need to pray for you!" Ha!!! 3). My husband makes fun of the way I say "toilet". Apparently I pronounce it toe-let instead of toy-let. I blame it on my
Hmm... just dunno... 2008-03-29 00:44:00 I don't know if I like the new layout! What do y'all think? HONEST OPINIONS, PLEASE! It won't hurt me feelings if it is too bright and crazy or whatever!
No title 2008-03-28 23:24:00 I've been reading blogs of women who've recently lost babies, whether early pregnancy or stillbirths. It got me thinking about Aaron. This is a name I never say, never mention, usually don't even think about. My life is so full and busy that I sometimes forget. Reading these blogs is therapeutic and helps me feel as though I can connect with others. It helps me feel as though I shouldn't and cannot forget. It's like a secret Club I belong to: Club Loss. It's a club no one wants a membership to, with a high price to pay to be involved. Point blank it just SUCKS.Sometimes I think my loss is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Just typing that out now brings tears to my eyes. How could a life, no matter how short lived, be insignificant? God even takes care to feed the sparrows an
Elaina's Funny and Abby's One Year Milestones 2008-03-27 22:30:00 Elaina's funny! No, no... not Elaina is funny... it's possesive. As in she OWNS a funny! That's right, that is what she calls this little pink bunny I put in her Easter basket! She carries that thing with her everywhere. "Mommy, where's my funny? My PINK funny? I need my pink funny!"Apparently b's are difficult for her to pronounce! When I tuck Elaina into bed at night I always reassure her with, "I'll be back in a little bit to check on you." I'll hear her little munchkin voice in the dark say, "You come back to see me, okay?" Just like a cashier or friend would say!I have a song I made up with Abigail's name. It goes like this, "Abby, Abby, I love you! Abby, Abby it's so true!" Elaina comes up to me tonight and sings, "Mommy, Mommy I yub you! Mommy, Mommy it's so true!" My heart about mel Read more:Funny
Fall Weddings are Everywhere I Look! 2008-03-27 10:56:00 Mel posted such a lovely tribute to her wedding and thought it'd be a wonderful thing to do over here at Seven Shades of Red. So here is a sweet tribute to my dear husband about our wedding day and a summary of how we met!First of all, Daniel and I met at Mardi Gras. No, no... we weren't partying! Our churches got together and did an outreach during Mardi Gras, feeding the poor, handing out tracts, prayer walking, etc. It wasn't exactly love-at-first-sight but over the next few months we grew to love each other.God told me I was going to marry him. In fact, he gave me SEVEN confirmations (can you tell I like that number?). Maybe I'll save that for another post?! We started off wanting to do everything right, wait for marriage, be holy and righteous. But the Bible says, "None are righteous, Read more:Weddings
What A Day! Should Be Folding Laundry... 2008-03-26 14:22:00 I honestly have 3 baskets full of laundry to be folding... but I thought this would be more fun! I love posting blogs, can you tell?! Ha! Anyway... first thing first... I woke up to a dreadful thing. My hubby broke my seahorse fridge magnet. It's the most gawdy looking magnet but I love it! Seahorses are my favorite animal/creature. Apparently he bumped it off the fridge when he opened the back door to feed the dog. Oh he SO owes me!!! I'm going to make him buy me one in every color! At least it was only $1Look at what else I got at the dollar store! It was a pack of 7 or 8 little cookie cutters for only a buck. You can't beat that! I got them for Abigail's birthday party to make the party sandwiches into shapes. Today Elaina wanted a teddy bear PB&J! I didn't decorate a little face for Read more:Folding

For such is the Kingdom of God 2008-03-25 21:39:00 My beautiful, darling toddler comes up to me yesterday and tells me, "Momma!!! My yeg [leg] hurt! You pray for my yeg?" I couldn't help but smile at her sweetness and I leaned down to her level, touched her little leg and said a prayer, adding a silent one from my heart telling God how blessed He has made me. And thanking Him for every single day He gives me to be her mother. There are even times when Elaina comes to me and says, "Mommy? I pray for you!" She'll lay her hand on me gently, usually on my leg or arm, pray in her own language (very much sounds like tongues!) and the only words I can usually make out are "Jesus" and "Tank You!". Her favorite part is to shout Amen! Then she'll lean close to my face, all serious, and ask me, "You feel better? Yes, you better!" and she nods her tiny Read more:Kingdom
No title 2008-04-17 20:09:00 Daniel and I are avid "Lost" watchers! It's the one show we have to see. Right now they're showing reruns to catch everyone up in this season and Elaina is sitting on the couch. I tried to change it to "Smarter Than a 5th Grader" because that's more kid-friendly. She would NOT have it! "The guy! The guy, Momma!" She wanted me to turn it back to the guy who was talking on Lost and she relaxed back into the couch when I changed it back. That is extremely hilarious. Even now she is watching it with wide eyes. I've tried changing it multiple times just for her to shoot up and say, "Nooooooooo!" She's supposed to be in bed but she doesn't sleep well on the nights Daniel is late getting home. No harm done doing it once in a while! So we're just hanging out, waiting for Daddy to come home.Elaina i
Much Needed Break! 2008-04-19 00:26:00 Tonight we went to our friends' home for dinner and games! We did bring our girls (they have a son the same age as Abigail) and they had a blast!!! There were a few touchy times when the children would whine and fuss, but that's to be expected! It didn't bother me a tad though Elaina is at this point where she is just beyond upsetting to me. I need to re-strategize how to deal with the public meltdowns and disobedience. Anyway, they grilled burgers and we made potato salad. It was such a blessing to have a break from the hum-drum of the everyday SAHM life. I love weekends because I know that means we go shopping or get out of the house. But this was different. This was adult conversation! The games we played were so incredibly fun! We intended to stay until 7 or 8 PM and it wasn't until 10: Read more:Break
Miscellaneous 2008-04-20 21:26:00 Don't you just love that word? I remember when I was really young (6 or 7) my mom was packing up boxes and she kept writing "MISC" on some of them. I asked her what that stood for and she told me. For some odd reason that stuck with me. I remember repeating that word over and over in my mind.Anyway, does anyone use whitening strips?! I'm talking about the nasty, goopy 30-minute ones! I started using them a few days ago and I am thoroughly annoyed. I make it to about 20 minutes before my mouth is so filled with saliva that I can't stand it anymore. However, my teeth are looking whiter and brighter in just a few uses and only using once-a-day instead of the suggested twice-a-day!So what does Daniel do? He goes and buys himself a 5-minute whitening kit! Gee, thanks... leave me with the nasty
April Showers Bring May Flowers 2008-04-23 21:26:00 Today was gloriously beautiful until about 4 this evening. Dark clouds rolled in. Daniel and I decided a few days ago we needed to make a run to the store and so off we went! While we were eating dinner, the rain just fell all at once. It was an enormous downpour! And then slowly it trickled away. Then woosh, it'd come back all at once again! It was definitely some crazy rain! So at the store Elaina picked out one of those big bouncy balls since we have no outside toys. Ooh, and I found something else that's really cool! PAINT! Clearance paint. Yeah, so it's Wolly World paint but I've never used it and I got two gallons for $10. One color is the color of purple lilacs and the other is a cream. I decided to paint Abby's room that this summer! I'll probably paint the lower half the purple and Read more:April

D.isney Princesses According to a 2-year-old 2008-04-22 20:46:00 While perusing the aisles at W.al-m.art the other day I found a really neat D.isney Princess plate, bowl, and cup set. It was super inexpensive ($3) and I knew Elaina would get a kick out of it! So today she was going through the cart where I keep all of her dishes (limited cabinet space). She pulled out her Princess cup and said, "Oh Mommy! I put milk in my cup?"Well I'm doing the dishes and I hate being interrupted so I told her to wait. As she stood there, waiting, she started pointing at each Princess and naming them. These are the D.isney Princesses
