The Cacophony of Chance
2008-04-11 14:54:37
I have realized that most of my blog post, except for the ones about the political issues in Bosnia – were much easier to write than to read. My last post before this one entitled –Why Jasmin’s Heart – was a perfect example. It was basically a stream of concusses without the solid ground to hold to. But I also hope that it was not completely hermetic. It has been a while since I wrote my last post and lot of things happened in the meantime. My son has come back from Austrian hospital where he was subjected to various medical examinations concerning his heart condition. His surgery was something that we were all expecting with high expectations and fear and it did not take place after all. The Austrian doctors have given up on his surgery for now saying that his condition is more

One ordinary move
2008-04-11 13:32:07
this is a short storyShe made a move, wanting only to leave thefive-cornered, glassed-in space, two angles of whichshook in that moment with cigarette smoke and faintshadows that played before her, not allowing her tofully comprehend them, to see again their boring, deadshapes, for who knows how many times before now, theboring and dead shapes that had almost disappeared nowin a flash of light, only to be again, periodically, moving forward toward her, tricking her, wanting tomake her stop believing in their presence. About themshe would think sometimes, walking from room to room, that they were eternal and unbreakable in their glassand concrete consistency, inherent with every littlepart mortared and cemented (in her vision at thatmoment) forever; and that move started to look to herfamilia

Hot Sofa
2008-04-10 12:26:26
I do not know who started it first -the idea was hugely exploited by many writers and actors, movie makers etc. Idea is what would have happened if a certain things in our lives decided to take specific turn or not? Or we could sublime it also into a question –who would you be now if something significant in your life took a different twist? What would have happened in a case that certain things in our lives decided to take a different outcome? Would that made a significant change, and how deep? And who would you be now and where if that was the case? Steve Buscemi has directed the movie, a very funny and depressive in a same way, about a guy from a small American province. In one of his interviews he admitted that he was basically picturing himself and his own life that would hav

Sarajevo siege April 6th 1992 - April 6th 2008
2008-04-09 05:23:33
Today is going to be 16th anniversary of the beginning of the Sarajevo siege, and also – the beginning of the war in Bosnia. Not a really tranquil morning for me. Sarajevo siege, as the longest siege in the history of the modern warfare introduced the new word – urbicide, denoting brutal destruction against the city, and everything that city represents. Now when I am a parent, and growing older as well - it becomes more and more petrifying for me to recall the facts about thousands of kids killed during the siege, more than 12000 civilians killed and about 50 000 wounded. This is only about Sarajevo, without the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes described once this world as terrified and terrifying. Today is the day when I am recalling his thoughts wi

Ad Sense Diner
2008-04-08 13:52:57
I have been online from 1996 and since than I have never seen so much money making related issues and sites until now. Talk about money is ever present on-line and also bursting and exploding more and more. That’s ok, and it proves the huge expanding of the internet and its massive development. Even though this site is not occupied with the saturated themes about money making opportunities – I did put some Ad Sense ads and also some Amazon widgets. I did that without any previous knowledge about Ad Sense or something similar, and because some of my friends have suggested it, and because today it’s hard to imagine a site without some kind of ads. It has come almost to the point when addles site might start to look plain and uninteresting. Internet as a media is starting to build the

To say or not to say
2008-04-01 10:08:03
I see some of the most successful blogs out there being incredibly soft and not occupying any ground of the clear statement. In a certain way, they are not trying to criticize anything. If everybody sustains from giving a critic and condemning the negative stuff that surround us, than what are we left with? If it all boils down to the talking about the flowers and nice things that you should have in mind when decorating your house with, where is that going to take us? If political correctness is all about not saying anything than why bother at all with it? During the time of the II world war one great writer said that he was absolutely stunned with so many writers of that time talking about moon and sunny fields while the greatest human disaster ever was going on in front of everybody'

Why Jasmin's Heart
2008-03-09 21:17:04
Some of you already familiar with this blog might know the secret of this blog’s name. Even if you do you still might ask yourself how is possible to make such a stew considering various subjects of these web pages. From the oil painting till politics and than again about my son who was born with congenital heart disease. For sure I am not the only guy cooking this kind of pot but what I could guarantee is that content of my blog is a little bit to much of the Technicolor even for me. So probably I will have to choose about the future content. Is it going to be about some political opinions and thoughts or just a personal confession of a guy stacked in a whirlwind of unpredictable life’s surprises? I am just wondering but probably I will not do anything about it because in a w

About my son
2008-03-08 10:32:54
I have received maybe more than a dozen of e-mails, all of them mostly from the great artist community and site „Fine Art America. “ I really do not have enough words to sincerely thank to everyone who supported me with their kind words of encouragement. I was absolutely amazed with receiving so many warm messages of support for my son and his open heart surgery. That is why I must post here and inform everybody that the Austrian doctors have given up from the surgery. Everything was going as scheduled before and operation was set to take place during this week. But day before yesterday I was informed, first by my ex-wife and then by Dr. Marks, Austrian surgeon who was in charge for my son’s treatment, that operation is suddenly canceled. I had a chance to talk briefly on the phon

Albanian bakers in Serbia deprived of their business
2008-03-07 06:22:06
As an awful and especially mean response to Kosovo’s independence, Albanian bakery owners situated with their business in Serbia are experiencing those days a new, racist methods striving to put them out of business. Next to the bakery shops run by Albanians, and those could be find all over the Serbia, organized groups are noticed giving the bread and pastry for free. This massive trend is not officially registered because of the “lack of informations” and because nobody is “officially reporting,” as some of the officials have stated. It is not hard to imagine all anxiety and fear that Albanian people in Serbia are experiencing nowadays. This is occurring particularly in the Serbian city of Sombor, as the Belgrade journalist Petar Lukovic reports, and it could be compared to t

Bosnia under threat for one more time
2008-03-05 13:27:30
Article in Sarajevo's most respected news-paper „Oslobodjenje” written by Mirko Sagolj deals once more with an another political blunder of Milorad Dodik, the leader of the ruling Serbian party in the Republika Srpska, the smaller one of two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In his brilliant column Sagolj warns us that political behavior and public statements given by mentioned nationalistic politician are no different in its essence than the ones specified during the outsets of the war in Bosnia by Radovan Karadzic, the number one wanted for war crimes and ethnic cleansing. Sagolj confesses his anxiety and unease when witnessing the fact that there is no adequate response to Dodik’s political threat s, either from the International community either from other political parties i

Right here is a great site that I would like to recommend. Checking out what's new on this great web site has become a part of my everyday morning routine. My son will face a surgery on open heart probably this week and reading the helpful advices rooted in Zen philosophy really offers some tranquility. Another amazing thing about this site is that the guy who created it is giving up on all the copyrights restrictions. So anybody is able to spread it an use it anyway they like. That is why I am going to cite some of his thoughts here and to encourage everybody in becoming the fan of Zen Habits. The people you make friends with are so much more important than your job or the things you buy. I’ve had a few jobs, I’ve bought a lot of things, and I’ve made a few friends over these las

European reluctance in Bosnia
2008-03-03 09:18:27
One of the most intriguing recent news in Bosnia is giving up from “European principles” regarding the reform of the police structure in Bosnia by European Union. The reform of the police structures in Bosnia, as one of the numerous painful issues, is already for a long time a hard burden as well for the European Union so for the people of this devastated country. The consequences of this act are being watched through the prism of European stepping back from the principles of modern and civilized organization of police caused by one more rising of Serbian nationalistic tensions and happenings around and about Kosovo. In front of the astonished eyes of the political annalists and journalists the politic of the nationalistic “social democrat” Milorad Dodik, the leader of the rulin

non-fiction

non-fiction The guy named Cyrus comes to my mind now. A lot of things are starting to puzzle me like in a some kind of a detective novel with the only difference that in this story it does not mater who is the bad guy. The question is – who is not? I used to work for a big cruise company. An interesting job, very demanding and challenging though but it gave me an opportunity to see some of the most stunning places on earth. I was working as a bus boy, in a very fine and huge restaurant. I was already on the ship for 4 months when I have started to work with Cyrus. Before that, I was working with one lady from Croatia, let’s call her Amy. And that was the horrible experience. She has been headwaiter and I was under her command. First of all her way of doing the job was killing f

What to do in the times of trouble? When everything looks like falling apart. Certainly everyone has to face this question now or then at certain point of life. Job loss, the worries about the member of the family, relationship troubles, money issues and bankruptcy, marriage breakdowns and so on… This question is so common and in my modest opinion completely underestimated. Even when we are facing the simultaneous crossfire of the misfortunate series of the events the main thing to keep in mind should be awareness of the fact that anxiety or self-destructive behavior would not contribute a bit to the solution of the problem. Sounds familiar? But it’s never enough to repeat it. In my case now when my son is going to face an open heart surgery, regarding the given circumstance I

About Joyce’s Paralysis II
2008-04-19 14:58:06
Here is the opening sentence of “The Dead”; “Lily, the caretaker’s daughter, was literally run off her feet.” The word “literally” in this context is one that uneducated people, such as Lily, a housemaid, would use. The ninetieth century writer would probably used “figuratively” instead of “literally”, nut not Joyce , a modernist. Again, he gives his pen to his characters, to Lily, in this case, and she, in return, inflects the author’s style with her own personality. Even though Dubliners is written in English language, its author’s voice is rather multilingual than monolingual, since his characters speak their own languages. The language defines the very quality of their living. Mr. Power of “Grace” finds himself surprised when he hears the way Mr. Kernan

Entrecard Experience
2008-04-21 14:11:38
I haven’t written a post about the Entrecard yet so it is time for me to do so. I have found this remarking service quite by chance and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a worthwhile decision because Entrecard brings approximately about 90-100 readers of visitors for this blog every day. It was amazing to discover this fact because my blog, as some of you are already familiar about it, deals with my very own intimate problems, like with the hospitalization of my son because of his heart condition, and also with the random ramblings about the certain literature and political views. I started this blog mainly for sake of therapeutic reasons - I ‘v found it revealing just to fire out the row sketches of occasional thoughts. It was never meant to be done for the purpose o

The Red

This is one of the paintings that I was working on recently and the one of the rare ones for which I could say that I was satisfied with the final outcome. The title is simply – The Red. I like this painting because of intense composition and because working on it was a pleasure. I wonder am I the only one thinking this way about it. Jasmin's Heart

The Spinach Rampage
2008-04-26 03:28:02
There is a very humorous site out there. It is called Sogeshirts blog of masterful entertainment. The most of the posts deal with the recalling of the nutty events and stunts from author’s childhood. Other ones are no less rampageous. So if you need something to cheer up be sure to visit this site for a little dopamine. There is a very comical post there talking about the author's struggle for the Subway sandwiches, back from the time of his elementary school days. Well, I must confess that his post gave me an idea for this one. But I am going to dive even more in the past – to the time of my kinder garden adventures. I am going to confess my first, unforgivable sin, the one which started everything, the very first one which incited the chain reaction of the pratfalls and follies

On-Line Television
2008-04-29 15:42:18
Using Internet today could be done right or the wrong way, like everything else. Even if you are, like me – a blogger who is not occupied with reaching the goals of huge traffic or if you are doing your post for the sake of own, very personal motives, it is possible to easily adjust your aspirations and to turn the time you are spending on-line into a weapon for making your efficiency stronger and more productive. People used to say before– Go to bed early, early rise. I think that today is more appropriate to say: Do not watch so much of television, better you find something interesting on-line. Everybody has their own niche and the field of interest. So the next time when you spend hours and hours by watching TV – you may want to ask yourself what is the bottom line. There was a

The Look Study Painting
2008-04-29 15:34:40
My header image that you can see above is based on this painting. It is based on the real model, but not in a manner of portraiture. I am the member of the very fine artist community Fine Art America, you could find the link for that amazing site below. Among my other works this painting gained the most attention on that site. Maybe it's all about the look. Oops I almost forgot - my Entrecard is as well made from the same image, so if I ever became famous maybe this will be my logo or something, lol.Jasmin's Heart

Where Are The Dragons?
2008-05-07 16:44:10
Nihad Hasanovic This is a short story written by Nihad Hasanovic , one of the most interesting and intriguing young writers in Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian language. It is being published here with his kind permission. I hope that you will enjoy it. Hasanovic's new novel "Selver's Combat" is about to come out of print soon.I finally realized that I was ill, that I was insane, incurably so, that help had been denied to me, that no one would fix me a miraculous potion; they won’t because here, where I am counting my 39th year, there is no one close to me. I grow old in loneliness. There exists no healer who could fix me a healing potion.I am driven into restlessness by difficult questions which sound ludicrous ou
