PUMA's Train Away kit: for fitness on the run 2007-07-19 11:00:45 Going for a run while away on a trip can seem downright impossible. Let's face it, business travelers and vacationers often find it difficult to exercise while traveling, especially since workout gear takes up unnecessary space and can be a hassle to pack. Most often, even the best intentions result in clothing that's left idle, never making its way out of the suitcase.
Puma's Train
Away Kit is designed to pack into a compact bundle, and includes a jacket, t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers offering travelers an easier solution. The shirt and shorts are made of lightweight, breathable materials that wick sweat away from the body, and even more innovative is that their sneakers have a slot in the sole for a hotel key card!
For runners traveling to a foreign city, Puma's Train Away Kit includes a promo code that can be used on Soundwalk.com. Runners can go to Soundwalk's site, and use their code to view maps and download mp3 running tours. Read more:fitness

Nature ride: Concept bike with road kill handle bars 2007-08-06 09:00:20
Let’s face it: too much road kill goes unused and wasted on the side of the highways…
So the next time you drive by a large dead animal on the side of the road (one with a nice rack anyway) ... think wooden bicycle. That's what Jenny Nordberg did. Her concept bike was made by putting those throw-away antlers to good use (fortunately that seems to be the only 'road kill' parts on the bike). I’m not sure antlers make for terribly ergonomically-friendly hand grips (ouch!) ... but it looks good, and it makes for great conversation. As manly as it is though, this one's for the girls ... Jenny decorated the seat with a pretty crochet pattern.

Vegetarians: Smart (But Still Annoying) 2007-07-13 16:20:48 It’s not like you don’t try. When you and your vegetarian friend get together (everyone’s got one), you smile through adventures in Soyland. Mmmmm, "Fib Ribs", Tofurky jerky and mock lobster. I know it well; but aside from being polite there is another reason to gulp down one of those tasty veggie burgers. It turns out your friend is smarter than you.
According to the BBC, it seems that Vegetarians are brainier than the rest of us:
A Southampton University team found those who were vegetarian by 30 had recorded five IQ points more on average at the age of 10.
Researchers said it could explain why people with higher IQ were healthier as a vegetarian diet was linked to lower heart disease and obesity rates.

O+: Oxygen in a can 2007-08-13 12:09:00 Ever since you were born, you’ve been breathing oxygen for free, right? Well the masters of mundane marketing agree that it is time for you to adjust your thinking. Yes, you can breathe air for free; but how lame would that be? Naturally occurring oxygen is just so 10,000 years ago. It’s time for you to begin breathing more pure, more refreshing oxygen.
Yes,the world's most essential element is making a fashionable comeback. This time, in a can.
And Oxygen
Plus, a new company, is leading the way by providing 90% pure oxygen-enriched air that is portable, safe, natural and easy to use anywhere, anytime.
My husband and I recently tried O+ and felt the immediate effects; but not for long. It won't make you light headed, but it won't make you run faster either. Somewhere in the middle ground between those two extremes lies the benefit gained from the oxygen in Oxygen Plus. In fact, the benefits of a few blasts of O+ may actually be more psychological than genuinely physical, b
Frontier Days: The professional rodeo circuit 2007-08-16 14:10:22 My new favorite sport: The Rodeo.
Cowboys who are willing to risk their necks for 8 seconds of riding glory and the possibility of prize money is thrilling to watch. Not to mention the thrill of watching someone jump off a horse to wrestle a 600 pound steer to the ground -- the death-defying confrontation between man and beast has made bull riding and the rodeo in general one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
Just as spectators flock to a NASCAR race because of its inherent danger, the rodeo possesses a blood-and-guts excitement that sells tickets. However, like most sports, I quickly learned, you have to get to know the players. That means the riders and the animals (which btw are well taken care of) before you can actually enjoy the event or feel the pain.
Here's a few photoes (I took over 500) from my recent trip to Cheyenne!

Hug Shirt: Amazing Embrace 2007-08-22 08:47:38 Hugging is healthy. It helps the immune system, cures depression, reduces stress and induces sleep. It's invigorating, rejuvenating, and has no unpleasant side effects. Hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug.
Not receiving enough hugs?
Sure, the blanket-over-the-head trick will do (when you have to hug yourself). But the next time you might want to try this new invention.
The Hug Shirt
, a high-tech garment that simulates the experience of being embraced by a loved one was recently named by Time Magazine as one of the top inventions of 2006.
When a friend sends you a virtual hug, your cell phone notifies the shirt wirelessly, via Bluetooth and then the next thing you know is that the shirt re-creates that person's distinctive cuddle, replicating his or her warmth, pressure, duration and even heartbeat. And, yes, the Hug Shirt
is fully washable.

Cardboard tube dueling 2007-08-27 09:40:18 From Buzzfeed: People battling using cardboard tubes now have an official league. As ridiculous as it sounds, sometimes people who suck at sports feel the need to make up their own. We assume that's how dodgeball was invented.
Here are the rules:
1. Don't break your tube. In a duel, the last person with an unbroken tube is declared the winner.
2. No stabbing. Lunges involving tubes are never allowed under any circumstances.
3. Try not to work the face. Hitting people in the face is heavily frowned upon and can force your ejection from the event.
4. Once your tube is broken you must stop fighting.
5. You may not block your opponents tube with your arms, hands or legs.
Sadly, I must admit, this looks like fun. Read more:Cardboard
Stand up paddle surfing: Jennifer Aniston enjoys the ride 2007-08-25 07:29:41 We know you investment-banker-adventurer types like to get all bad-ass. You’re taking yoga. You just went shark-hunting with your buddies. You’re letting it all hang loose in those crazy new fit-flops -- you are fierce!
What you need now is to go surfing. Oh you say, been there, done that? Well, fine. And it was at the Ritz Carlton -- with instructor. But have you ever stand up paddle surfed?
Jennifer Aniston
and her BFF, Courtney Cox, have ... in fact, they recently broke away for some stand up paddle surfing down in the Hawaiian Islands.
Stand
up paddle surfing is an aspect of surfing that has seen a recent resurgence, and with good reason -- it's a lot harder than it looks (and more fun.) For those not familiar with the sport, it entails standing on a large longboard and propelling yourself with essentially a canoe paddle. It is a sport practiced at one time by photographers who didn't want to get wet while photographing other surfers and tourists riding the waves. Recently,
JumpSnap: Learning the Ropes 2007-08-24 09:25:03 You gave up jumping rope ages ago - mostly because "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" came into play for those of you with two left feet.
Solution: A ropeless jump-rope. Yes, you read right a jump-rope that lacks what many would consider a critical feature: the rope.
Jump ropes have obviously come a long way and they aren't just for recess anymore. They have always provided a simple and effective workout on the go, but now JumpSnap loses the rope, leaving two handles with electronic chips and an LCD screen that estimate calories burned, while providing a timer and audible workout summary. It even makes a snapping sound with each rotation so you don't feel entirely silly - and btw jumping rope isn't for wimps, think boxing regimen. While you might not find Sugar Ray jumping without a rope, you will find him endorsing the benefits of it! Jumping rope (also referred to as rope skipping) is a staple in a boxer’s conditioning program. And, it is the cheapest fat-burning Read more:Learning
Stripper 101: What happens in Vegas.... 2007-08-28 10:23:02 Men: It's Vegas
... do you know where your women are? You might want to check out a class called "Stripper
101" or who knows maybe you want to sign them up.
The year-old class is held in a theater at the new Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (formerly the Aladdin), and has become so popular that it's now offered daily. Approximately a dozen or so women, every day, from their 20s to 50s enthusiastically learn how to do a striptease. It's a sweat-inducing low impact aerobic workout designed to instill a positive body image and increase self-confidence, while developing a strong sense of sensuality. The mantra: Grab Life by the Pole!
The fact is that you won't burn a ton of calories but it is still an exotic dancing workout that involves lunges, squats, kicks, and stretches that will reach all of the major muscle groups. It's not for everyone; some women even find the whole concept demeaning, but for the most part I'm all for trying new things. Who knows you may just end up feelin

Pee & Poo: The Unflushables 2007-09-01 06:33:28 I pride myself in trying to find the most unique, cutting edge, gadgets in the world of health & fitness and that's why I just had to tell you about Pee & Poo!
I know some of you wouldn’t talk about Pee or Poo, let alone think of buying it for someone as a gift; I however, think it's a great way for children (and adults for that matter) to open up the discussion about your bodily functions in an amusing (yet aesthetic) manner. The mere mention of words like "underpants" and "poop" make my boys laugh so hard that I've seen milk come out of their nose; they will fall off their seats when I bring these adorable toys home, giving them reason (and permission) to discuss their favorite subject. Sadly, my husband is as easily entertained ... and would gladly bring this amusing set to any social event.
These toilet humor characters were designed by Emma Meggitt, as a college master design, which got such an overwhelming response that she had to act fast and actually create her plush fri
Sexercise: Yes, both exercise and sex are good for you 2007-09-17 09:31:14 Blind dates who are much older than they claim online, drunk surgeons, O.J. Simpson.
Not everyone deserves a second chance.
Sex and exercise, on the other hand, are definitely worthy of a round two. You already know that exercise makes you look and feel better. But did you know that exercise, quite literally, makes you want to have sex? After a good workout (not limited to the gym, think hike, bike and climbing too), men and women alike experience a spike of testosterone (the famed "pump" of bodybuilding), the hormone that influences sexual arousal. And, yes, exercising improves blood flow to the genitals and reduces stress; a cycle which can lead to more sex.
And, it seems that having more sex (which means at least twice a week), is better for you than previously thought. Sex can do wonders for everyone both physically and psychologically. You will gradually notice that the more sex you have, the more bounce you will have in each step (and the more sex you'll want) -- so if y
Could your iPod take the place of a pricey personal trainer? I think so 2007-09-13 12:20:07 You walk into your gym, say "hello" to the front desk and gleefully get set-up on your favorite cardio machine. Elliptical, no, treadmill... no, today let's try the stepmill. You do 10 minutes of cardio warm-up, bang out a set of push-ups, then, let's see, maybe some leg extensions, then, hmm, maybe some abs? Next, where were we? After 15 minutes you've lost a little steam and a lot of focus, you're looking at the guys (and girls) with the personal trainers and all of a sudden you're not at all sure if you're getting the full benefit of your gym time.
Solution: Bring a trainer with you! Try one of these downloadable services and see which one is the right fit for you.

Stay active and healthy while on the road 2007-09-12 15:45:34 The bad news: You’re beat, you have the cosmic weekend hangover from hell, and because summer is over you can see nothing ahead of you but work, work, work.
The good news: Work requires you to travel. So what better excuse to make your next trip the let-me-work-hard, let-me-play-harder kind? Sure, there’s the tried and true, like the Four Seasons, the Ritz , or even the Oberoi Udaiva in India … But what about something a little more fitness oriented or something off the beaten path? Weighing in on The Celebrity Scale 2007-10-02 02:54:00 Your relationship with your scale is sort of like your relationship with your spouse.
You get along just fine — as long as it tells you what you want to hear.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could always look forward to seeing it? Well, the Celebrity
Weighing Scale
is one way to improve the weighing ritual, it helps you see how you compare to your fave celebs, historical figures, and made-up characters. Settings replace unhealthy obsessions with clever similes. Or, if you prefer, you can step on up to the Animal Scale and see which animal you weigh. You could be anything from a little baby rabbit to a bear! Of course, these won’t tell you anything different from your old scale …
But it could make the news a little more tolerable.
d30: Innovative materials for athletes 2007-10-12 13:15:45 Could this new material change the way we sport?
If were the betting kind (and I am), I'd have to say yes!
Designed by a snow sports enthusiast. This revolutionary material made with 'intelligent molecules' can help protect you from a heavy impact by absorbing the energy. What that actually means is that you can use d3o in sportswear where you want freedom of movement and dexterity but also want some impact absorption. It can be integrated into footwear, headwear, gloves, clothing and boots.
It means people can get on with their sport without being confounded by pieces of bulky, rigid (hard) plastic and cumbersome, stiff foams. It's the difference between Robocop and Spiderman. Robocop is built with protection around him like a shield; d3o is more like Spiderman, where the protection and the athlete are integrated together. It's a discrete, small and totally unrestricted layer of protection in the areas where you need it that wouldn't previously have been possible.

Right brain vs. left brain: Which side are you on? 2007-10-12 09:01:23 Have you ever thought why some people can paint beautifully, but have difficulty adding two and two? Or why some people can understand the intricacies of calculus effortlessly, but struggle to write a one-page essay? It's all about which side of your brain dominates - the left or the right. The right is responsible for imagination, feelings and creativity, while the left is responsible for logic, details and facts. Want to know which side is dominant for you? Go to this link, look at the picture of the dancer and focus on which way she is turning. Is it clockwise? Or counter-clockwise?
If clockwise is your answer, you use your right brain more often. If you saw her moving in the other direction, you use your left. If you look really hard and focus on the dancer, you can see that she changes direction.
For me, she was turning clockwise, which means my right lobe is more dominant -- therefore I'm more creative. I imagine since it's also representative of dancing, arts and sports, m Read more:Right
