Birdwatching Sunday
2008-06-08 08:14:48
Today I photo hunted great tits. While they were hunting for food.It had been lots of pain until I finally managed to capture a proper photo. You see these little fellows flew away right after they had caught a single sunflower seed. After that they headed to squeaking younglings, who are big enough to fly but not that mature to hunt for food. Mallards were swimming in the pond. Suddenly they

Walking with flowers (no dinosaurs today)
2008-06-12 13:21:43
The first one is some yellow flower. I captured it in spring and have just found it among numerous photos of mushrooms.A yellow Iris. Thanks to Sandpiper now I know how it is called! Some white flower... Looks very delicate. And some violet flower. Don't know how it is called either. A foalfoot. It's already white! And a dandelion. As bright as the sun!

A sparrow and a starling
2008-06-14 13:06:17
To tell the truth I am too lazy today to post many photos. So I'm going to show you only these two fellows I captured. A female house sparrow (above) and a male starling (below). House sparrow is the most common type of birds here... and I am amazed to see how many different types of sparrows you guys have. Starlings. Starlings are not as disastrous as my favorite fieldfares. But they are nice

New tasty mushrooms
2008-06-18 13:32:55
Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). Yummy! Birch bracket (Piptoporus betulinus) - I made this picture in the evening after a rainy day. However these are not raindrops under the mushroom. This is actually a usual kind of slimy liquid which exudes from polypores when they are young and soft. Chicken fungus (Laetiporus). I wish I knew these ones are edible. I saw lots of them and loved their

Fungi, dragonflies and... something alive too
2008-07-07 12:02:09
Today I traveled out of town where Moscow ends and Russia begins. Besides seing some country houses with broken roofs yet inhabited, a forgotten children's playground with lots of grass ran wild around it and plenty of rusty cars left to stain in a field I also watched lots and lots nature's wonders. Millions of dragonflies flew in the sun trying to pick some warmth early in the morning.

Phallus impudicus - The Stinkhorn
2008-07-05 12:43:31
This morning began with a crazy cloud hanging under the very bright Sun. The rest of the day was rainy. However a bit of water from above didn't spoil the fun: I went to the forest and found mushrooms. Yeah, yeah same old story again. Phallus impudicus - you may guess that the name originated from their shape. These mushrooms emerge from 6-10 cm diameter eggs. They can grow as speedy as 5 mm

Just slow down and look around
2008-06-30 11:30:32
On my way home from work I encountered... yes you're right a Mushroom! Or perhaps it encountered me - who knows anyway? Agaricus Bitoporus. These guys love to grow in the streets. In theory they're edible. Practically I would not risk picking up anything that grows in the town. This one is huge btw - the cap diameter is about 20 cm. Unfortunatelly I didn't have anything to place nearby and

Social networking: friends, money, PROFIT!
2008-08-18 08:17:19
Can't believe but it took me quite a long time to understand.. er.. how blogger works. No kidding! 2 years on LiveJournal platform with its community system made me get used to a small corner where everything is situated on one page. Blogger is a different thing - it provides just that: blogging place. While hot communication is social networks. And they rule! First of all social networking is

I'm getting married
2008-08-15 04:41:47
And now it seems like I'm commiting a nice thing =) If you'd told me this in my pre-teens - I would have laughed in your face.I remember a chat with my friends about what we dream our life to be. Instead of wishing to meet a sweet prince, to get a manor full of puppies or to marry a good man and have lots of kids, I dreamed of becoming rich, travelling all around the earth and finally buying a

Tribute to wasps
2008-09-13 02:15:53
My new musical video here. A good sigh that I'm alive and didn't meet a stupid death from hunger LOL).Wasps. Tiny busy buzzing creatures. I loved to touch wasps and bumblebees when I was a kid. I still do love petting bumblebees, although I am much more careful with wasps now. Anyway they still remain one of my favorite creatures and deserve a tribute like this.

Russian victim mentality
2008-08-27 08:54:02
Since USSR has fallen Russia inherited the image of a fearsome country with all-mighty authoritarian government and workaholic citizens ready to fight invadors from Mars if they dear to threaten Mother Russia. Uh and don't forget bears in earlaped hats walking down the streets of Moscow - they're still here!Practically from early childhood parents teach their kids to fear. Russian mothers usually
