Trips: Factory Butte 2008-04-18 09:48:00 Factroy Butte is, simply put, a dirt bikers paradise. Often referred to as "swingarm city", the open play area is ideal for dirt bike riding of all types, the steep, narrow trails tend to be not as well suited to 4 wheel vehicles although we found it to be fun as well. This area is located near Caineville Utah, about 15 miles NorthWest of Hanksville. The area has been featured in many freeride Read more:Factory

Trips: Blue Lake 2008-04-18 09:41:00 "Blue Lake", actually called Cove Lake has been a Barlow favorite for quite some time. At 9,411 ft in elevation it's a good place to escape the summer heat. The Arapeen atv trail in the area is smooth and winds through the trees with an occassional opportunity to catch some air on the bumps. The fishing is usually fair, although this time I think Mike caught the only fish left in the lake. Duck
NOT FUNNY! 2008-04-16 14:58:00 These were sent to me in an email recently and I just had to post them up. At first I got a little chuckle out them, then I just got mad! We just returned from a trip to one of our favorite places in Southern Utah and I couldn't help but wonder how in the world we will ever return with the way gas prices are climbing. Just to get on our way(filling the truck and gas cans) cost us around $160!
Caineville/Factory Butte April 2008 2008-04-14 02:57:00 This was our year to plan and organize our annual family reunion. We decided that Caineville would be a good comprimise and a good place to get together. We really appreciate all the help and all those that came that helped make this a fantastic trip. Even though off roading was a focus of this trip, the majority of our time was spent together visiting around the camp fire, launching Read more:Factory

"Weather Cams" 2008-04-03 09:52:00 The weather cams come from news and weather websites in the area(this one has a link listed on the photo). I have collected just a few that have been usefull to me in the past while planning my next outing. This picture above was captured Tuesday morning on the Moab weather cam. I put a couple in the sidebar that open and refresh when a post is expanded. I have noticed that the images seem to

Owen's Buggy Seat Upgrade 2008-03-27 21:17:00 As Owen grows we are needing to expand his little buggy a bit. We built a new seat out of tubing and a little padding and extended the side out a bit. Hopefully it will now be big enough for Owen for a while and some of his cousins as well. Read more:Buggy

Little Moab March 2008 2008-03-23 20:22:00 Well here we go again! Another trip to our little weekend get away. The kids had Friday off from school so I took the day off and made it a 3 day weekend. Since it was Easter we colored eggs etc. The weather was nice, a bit cold at times, but not too bad for March
. Owen had a little accident while working on his buggy. The buggy fell and hit him in the ear. It put a pretty good slice in the top
Outdoor Expo 2008-03-15 20:53:00 We decided to head over to the outdoor expo today. We took a few pics of some things that caught our attention. This red RZR was pretty cool. Stock they said it costs about $10,300 but in this version it would be about $24,000 so it's got some upgrades on it for sure. Some of the things we noticed were the longer a-arms, fox shocks, turbo..it has an 800 cc motor stock, but I am sure it really

Caineville, 04-11 to 04-13 2008-02-29 12:20:00 This trip is a little different than our others in that this one is for a specific purpose. It's our turn this year to plan the reunion on Shelly's side of the family. All involved(you know who you are) will recieve and e-mail with an agenda of events for the 3 days we are going to be there. This will just be a rundown of how to get there, what there is to do there, and some general information
Our Photo Gallery 2008-02-22 21:03:00 This photo set was taken between 2-15-08 and 2-18-08 near Moab Utah at an area known as white wash sand dunes. To see our trip reports with directions etc. go to our trails section. This area is great for dirt bikes and small buggies. The dunes are small and easy to navigate. The slickrock and the wash offers an alternative to the sand.

Upcoming Trip, Prov Canyon 2008-04-19 22:45:00 We are planning on camping in the mouth of Providence Canyon
over memorial day weekend. We will be going up Friday afternoon and staying through Monday. The plan is to take our trailer to a spot somewhere below the quary to camp and to let the kids ride around, then take the bronco around on the following days until the snow stops us. We will probably leave the buggy home this time in favor of Read more:Upcoming
David Knight, GNCC Round 4 2008-04-20 20:54:00 After yet another bad start, knight stormed back to take the lead by the halfway point. Knight
admits that he doesn't even knows why he trys to get good starts, he practices them, then all goes wrong at the race. It doesn't seem to matter though as he dominates yet another race. He started a good 20 seconds behind the field then quickly gained ground as a few riders crashed near the start, then Read more:David
A Look Back, A Few Of My Favorite Rock Rigs Of All Time 2008-04-28 16:24:00 This one started it all! The Scorpion Mk1, built by Soni Honegger in 1997. It was featured in Peterson's 4 wheel and off road magazine Aug 1997, come on, I know you remember this Issue! They called it the "swiss army knife" I still remember staring at this exact picture, for hours! Soni Honegger set out on a mission to build what had been knocking around his head for some time, to build the most capable all terrain vehicle ever with a suspension system void of any springs and connected front to back with an equalizing system that actually forced articulation. It allows equal pressure on all 4 in even the most demanding situations as can be seen in some of these photos. It used air bags to spring the vehicle and a mechanical linkage that would force a rear tire down at a 70/30 ratio when t Read more:Favorite
David Knight GNCC Round 5 2008-04-28 10:28:00 Knight
er wins again! The GNCC series is an event that I have chosen to follow this year and so far I have not been disappointed. My interest was sparked by David
Knight who has dominated in many events. In round 5 of the GNCC series David Knight extends his lead in the series and seems to be in complete control at this point. This is his 4th win in only 5 tries this season! The latest race took place on April 27 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. FMF Suzuki's Joshua Strang took second place giving him 25 additional points, with Charlie Mullins taking third adding 21 points to his total. Kinght took the win by about a minute over Strang. Glenn Kearny took 4th, Nathan Kanney 5th, and Paul Whibley 6th. The total points the way I figure it total as follows after the first 5 rounds, with Knight a
GNCC Round 5, Loretta Lynn Ranch 2008-04-30 09:32:00 A few pics from the race as promised. I found these at GNCC racing and picked out a few of my favorites. I also read some interesting tid bits while browsing. In these types of races you always line up with the bike off and start the bike when the flag drops. I found it interesting that David Knight usually uses the electric starter AND the kick starter to start the bike. This time, however he just used the electric start which simplified things and gave him a better start. He also said that during the first minutes of the race he was hit with a rock in the throat and thought he was out of the race because he couldn't breathe. He pulled back and caught his breathe then continued on to win the event! Read more:Ranch
Centerville ATV Park 2008-05-01 13:45:00 Today was my day off since I started to work 4 -10's at my full time job and the kids were all out of school so we decided to head over to a little place that we had hear rumor of while Shelly was at work raking in the dough. It's called the Centerville atv park, but it's not much really. I think I've heard that it is actually some private land that was donated by and individual to allow some space to ride. It's actually great to have a place like this so close to home to let the kids practice, and to let me practice a bit as well. It's a very small area, but the dirt is a great consistency and it has a few little climbs, some woops, some berms...you get the picture. Brayden got some riding in on his bike while the weather was more agreeable, the start cord on Owie's and Hannah's buggy bro
Rekluse Auto Clutch, 2001 CR250 2008-05-03 20:32:00 Yes I am getting old! I read an article recently in dirt bike magazine that really pushed me the little bit more that I needed to finally lay down the cash for one of these babies. What pushed me over the edge was the fact that in any gear, in any situation, the bike will move forward. If you are climbing a hill that may turn a little steeper than you thought and you are in a precarious position so that it becomes difficult to reach that clutch lever and hit a lower gear, the rekluse will simply feather the clutch automatically and will continue to climb even if the gear is a little high for the hill. Also, it's obviously a big plus for the tight nasty stuff where your hand is constantly on the clutch to keep the motor running. The rukluse will not let the motor stall, ever! Even if you wr Read more:Clutch
