Benne's Knee Surgery.....
2008-04-07 10:00:41
Hey puppers, I'd mentioned a few weeks ago that my little cousin Benne had doing some really big jumps and blown his knee but the good news is that he had surgery last week and is on the mend.Guess what he had is called a luxating patella which should not be confused with Leek Paella and the doc had to literally cut the patellar ligament, make a groove in the bone and re-locate his knee cap.....makes me wanna WOOF just thinking about it! So now Benne has 6 weeks of re-hab and can only be outside if he is on leash and I'm tellin ya, his mom has him on a short leash! But my Aunty L is pretty happy that her 'little guy' is on the mend and wants to send a big thank you out to everyone at The Blueridge-Cove Animal Hospital. So hang in there Benne even if your leg kinda makes you look like Frank

What a Cool Dog!
2008-04-03 10:15:09
Doggers, you have to check out this story about Rex! Rex and his humans live in Australia and on a walk the other day went by a kangaroo that had been hit by a car and killed. When they got home, Rex who is part pointer, kept pointing at the roo and finally left his yard and went over to the roo. Well imagine his humans faces when he returned with a little joey that he rescued from the dead mama roo! "The joey was snuggling up to him, jumping up to him and Rex was sniffing and licking him - it was quite cute," Ms Allan said. The joey, to be named Rex Jr after his saviour, is now being cared for at Jirrahlinga Wildlife Sanctuary and when he is 18 months old will be released back into the wild.So doggers, check out the entire story on the Daily Mail web site and leave Rex a G-Day Mate!3 Pa

Animals are Smarter Than You Think.....
2008-04-02 16:32:19
Uh, duh.... what is it about you humans that it takes you so long to figure out the most obvious stuff? Now I'm not knockin this National Geographic article 'Animal Minds' but come on, it takes a Harvard Grad and a whole bunch of researchers to prove to the world that us animals understand what's goin on? Does no one remember Lassie, Rin Tin Tin, McGruff or any of the other 'smart dogs' out there? One quote "Dogs' understanding of human forms of communication is something new that has evolved," Kaminski said, "something that's developed in them because of their long association with humans." just makes plain old common sense to be, but what do I know, I'm 'just a dog'.So anyway, check out the 'Animal Minds' article for yourself on the National Geograhpic web site.....duh, how many paws am I

Dog-owners 'lead healthier lives'
2008-04-02 12:55:38
Doggers, as if we didn't know this already! Of course our humans lead healthier lives cause we take them for lots of walks and give them tons of doggie love!A psychologist from Queen's University, Belfast, said dog owners tended to have lower blood pressure and cholesterol and suffered fewer mild ailments. Plus, now get this doggers, 'research suggested that dog ownership produced more positive influence than cat ownership.' So you cats out there, well, maybe stop trying to be so aloof all the time....So have your mom and dad check out this article on the BBC web site and maybe they'll give you some extra rubbies and cookies for doing such great work!G-ManThe life and times of Gunner and 8 year old black lab. Doggie Lama
2008-03-31 20:36:20
So doggers, I don't usually talk about sensitive things like religion, but with the summer Olympics coming up and all the problems in Tibet, as a Doggie Lama I need to let people know my position. All I want is for all dogs everywhere to be able to believe in what or whom ever they want with out anyone barking, growling and abusing them and I think its really important for the humans to act they same way. When I see the humans hurting each other it makes me very sad because I know that means they have the potential to hurt us because humans seem to be very out of balance. So doggers, watch the summer Olympics if you must, I won't growl it against you. Just remember to think about the people in Tibet when you have some quiet time and send them peace, courage and love.Doggie Lama GunnerThe lif

So here's the thing puppers, my ma likes her wine and is always grumblin about the prices here in Canada so she's gonna have some wine made, yep.....made.It's actually a pretty popular thing here in Canada and I guess they figure at least this is one way to survive the winters here...... in moderation of course. Anyway, with this whole 'getting wine made thing', my mom's making a label for the bottle with my picture of course, and I figured I get your woofs on it.So leave me a comment and let me know if it's paws up or down!Cheers, GunnerThe life and times of Gunner and 8 year old black lab. Squirrel = Juvenile Delinquent!
2008-03-26 17:15:13
Doggers, ALL of my labby senses were tingling this morning when I was out doing my business cause once again 'the squirrel' (see my March 18th post) was up, and I do mean up to NO GOOD!Now I know Spring is here sort of, and everyone is talkin about 'the buds', but I don't think they meant the kind of 'buds' 'the squirrel' was smokin. And of course there's no talkin to the guy and trying to get him to straighten out cause all you ever get back is 'dude relax don't stress, dude you're bringin me down', what ever that means, I'll bring him down alright. So I telling all you doggers out there, especially the puppers.... don't be lettin any slim shadey characters at the dog park trade you biscuits for skunky, squirrely 'bud'. I knew all they way down to the tips of my paws that I was being discriminated against; every day I see people shy away from me, cross the street when they see me comin and look at me like I'm gonna chomp em. And now, someone has finally acknowledged the discrimination that us BLACK DOGS go through every day and how hard it is for us to get fur-ever homes just cause we're BLACK DOGS!The article about BLACK DOGS even says "They're the hardest to adopt out, they're in the shelters the longest and therefore, they're most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens"Read the full story on the MSNBC web site and if you're lookin for a pup to adopt, ADOPT A BLACK ONE!Soft, kind, gentle, fuzzy, lovin BLACK DOG GunnerThe life and times of Gunner and 8 year old black lab. Animal Testing, What the %@#!
2008-03-25 11:37:32
Ok doggers, I really try to keep things kinda lite and fun here but when I was surfin the net today I came across some site on 'Animal Testing '. At first I figured what the heck, I'm a pretty smart guy, I can pass their stinkin test but when I went to the site it was about HUMANS doing horrible chemical testing on ANIMALS in the name of creating 'safe human and animal products'.I'm not gonna show you photos or videos of innocent animals being used as 'test subjects' but just know that the hairspray, make-up or soap your mom & dad use every day to stay nice and pretty is sprayed into some poor dogs eyes for days on end to see it it causes any adverse reactions. However if your humans don't believe or understand that this goes on have them watch this video from PETA but please be WARNED

You have got to see this video of a 'Robot Dog' cause it is sooooo creepy and I don't know about you, but I've never seen a dog that looks like that. This 'thing' has no fur or cute fuzzy face to give you kisses, no tail to wag, has 4 back legs and is an insult to dogs everywhere! 2008-03-18 16:24:32
Doggers, I don't even know what to ruff regarding this 'squirrel situation', I mean my gosh, RUDE doesn't even begin to describe this....I'm out doing 'my business' this morning enjoying the robins and the fact it isn't raining for once... not even paying attention to 'the squirrel'.....not trying to chase him or ANYTHING! And then I glance over cause he's chirpin and acting like a jerk and what does he do, he flips me off! Good thing I had my camera to document this for Animal Control. Now I don't know if 'the squirrel' is acting like this cause he's still partying from St. Patty's Day or what but this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! OK doggers this is good news for the most part cause who doesn't like to go on vacation with their mom and dad jet-setting all over the world. Cause the Canadian Transportation Agency has ruled that Air Canada has to let us pets back on board and NOT ship us with the freight and you can read the whole story on the CBC web site. But am I the only one that noticed when this BAN WENT INTO EFFECT last summer it was RIGHT AFTER a news article on PASSENGERS COMPLAINING about AIR CANADA regularly shipping HEALTHY DOGS, 75-100 AT A TIME to Europe so that they could be used IN LABS for ANIMAL TESTING. Tag five people and post a comment to Mickey once you have posted it.So the book I grabbed is my some guy named Fyodor Dostoevsky....The police busied themsleves with the woman, and someone mentioned the police-station."No! SF Torch Relay Today
2008-04-09 11:00:36
So puppers I have pretty mixed feelings about the Olympic Torch relay in my of old home town San Francisco. I have stated before how I, as a Doggie Lama will NOT be watching or supporting the Beijing Summer Olympics but every dog needs to follow their own path.I think it is very important that everyone gets to BARK their concerns and bring to light issues not only in Tibet but all over the world, I just hope that the demonstrators find a way to remain calm and protest peacefully.See, my Aunty M is a Police Officer in San Francisco and it scares me and my mom when there are big, violent protests that she has to be at. And yes, I know that's the job she has chosen but it does not mean that she is there to be assaulted, abused and spit on by professional trouble makers, she's my Aunty M and
