While this look is probably best left for fun in the sun and casual wear, with the right shoes (and suntan) the wrap look a la Eva Longoria could actually work. Strappy tanks and drawstring shorts like on Jessica are also probably best left at the beach or for Sunday afternoons cleaning your apartment.Our suggestion? Don't take after Maria Menounous and try to do the formal romper. The shiny material and ill fitting cut give her a saggy bottom effect that is less than flattering. While, in this case, the belt is kind of cute, the whole thing together just doesn't work for a red carpet event.Where do you stand on the adult romper/shortalls case? The evil step-sister of 80's exercise wear, leg warmers, arm warmers have been a popular staple in the stripey variety amongst goth's and the rocker elite for a while now. But are they practical for us everyday fashion mavens?I would have to say a big no...why not just layer? However, if you are brave enough to be a jet setter and don a set of arm warmers, at only $10, its not that big of a risk. Better yet? Just cut the sleeves off of a long sleeve t-shirt and make your own (as a bonus, now you will have an awesome DIY short sleeved shirt as well!).What do you think of arm warmers? While the look was a refreshing change from "boho chic" for a while, now it's just kind of making me yawn.If you are going to brave it and keep the belted trend alive, then by all means, follow these simple rules:1) DON'T: Ever, ever, ever ruin a lovely formal dress with a wide satin belt of the same color, but in a darker hue. All you will do is make your otherwise slender waist seem as wide as your hips. *Note to high school girls, this is NOT a fabulous look for the prom.2) DO: Make like Molly Sims and keep your trench coats belted. Sunday night? Wow, what a show! This was the best show in years and the fashion wasn't bad either. Really, it wasn't bad….I mean bad, as in there were no real fashion don'ts other than perhaps OK Go whose attire was inspired by a couch. Yep, a couch, sofa, davenport, whatever you want to call it. Ann Taylor and The Loft are favorites of celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Anniston, and now they are one of my favorites too!One of the main reasons that I love The Loft so is because they use a fabric called modal in a number of their blouses and dresses. Modal
is a bio-based textile made from beech tree cellulose, and is similar to rayon. It is almost magical because it is butter soft, doesn't pill, is resistant to damage when washed and is super comfortable and flattering. I may never go back to cotton again.Lets just put it this way...I got the cream version of the above top and wore it to dinner with a girlfriend this weekend. Naturally, some of the sauce from my jambalaya splashed onto my new top. However, the orange oily sauce magically washed away and didn't stain when I hand washed it with some dish soap.
