Drive "The Starting Line"; "Partners" 2007-04-16 07:35:00 "There are 500 million cars worldwide - over half in the US alone. And, as long as there have been cars there has been 'The Race'. Secretly moving across America's roads and highways, it may be happening around you now. So the next time some jerk cuts you off on your way to work, cut'em some slack. They could be racing for their lives." - opening monologueI am a sucker for TV show premieres. As a steady fan of writer Tim Minear, Nathan Fillion (Buffy & Firefly) and Amy Acker (Angel & Alias), the previews for Fox's new drama 'Drive' had me interested. In the two-hour launch of the show, I felt a little bit of LOST (gradual character development in small doses and the presence of "Them", the people running the race), a little bit of Heroes (a group of diverse people brought together by circumstance) a little of 24 (deadlines to meet, lives at stake), a little bit of Nowhere Man (in the freaky way normal people were involved with the race like the waitress and the truck driver), Read more:Partners

American Idol Top 7 Performances 2007-04-18 09:17:00 Country Music Night with mentor Martina McBride(Click the idol talk button to see more reviews!)Phil StaceyWhere the Blacktop EndsCountry has been the best genre for Phil this far. I thought he had a good performance (no goose pimples though) and I definitely prefer the all-black shirt and pants look for him. If this were Country Idol, Phil would be a contender. He looked so comfortable on the stage tonight.Jordin SparksBroken WingI did get goose pimples with Jordin though! Wow, what a great performance. She looked beautiful and has such a great presence (Oh wait, did I say that last week?!?) Really, she does. She has a great singing style and personality.Sanjaya MalakarLet's Give Them Something to Talk AboutBandana Boy did his usual voodoo. And that's all the written space I'm devoting to Sanjaya.Lakisha JonesJesus Take the WheelSuch a big, powerful voice. My comment to DH during the chorus was that her big, awesome voice was actually too big for the song. I like that she had an em Read more:American

Life is Beautiful: American Idol Top 7 Results 2007-04-19 06:11:00 Cue Chris' song "I'm goin home..." and click to bobble Sanjaya. As much as I believe Sanjaya should be out of the competition, it was still sad to see him leave the show. While standing in the bottom three, Sanjaya beamed his signature huge smile. I thought he'd take it all in stride if his name was called to go home. But, then again, Sanjaya's been riding such a huge media wave and has never been in the bottom three. It must have been a shocker to him. I mean, I was a bit shocked considering he hasn't been in the bottom three ever.As he was embracing LaKisha, I thought, "Wow, he's really crying over this." He did bounce back for his song though and poke fun at the media stir caused by his hair. I'm sure he'll be fine. Not to mention, his stud-meter rating probably skyrocketed with all the girls back home.Leaving the show also means leaving the AI buddies you've been living with for the past month. I'm sure they've all bonded under the rigorous schedules and intense circumstan Read more:Beautiful

The Apprentice - Los Angeles, Finale 2007-04-23 08:20:00 (Spoilers if you haven't watched the finale yet.)Although a fan of reality tv show, this season was the first time I caught Donald Trump's "The Apprentice
". I liked this season's twist in that it was held here in CA and in Los Angeles
close to where I worked in Century City (a few blocks from Beverly Hills). Also, my mom would always share anecdotes from The Apprentice - how they solved a problem, set up a project, or how candidates handled team 'drama'. She thought it might come in useful during the required team projects I did for my MBA classes. So finally, I caught a few episodes this season (okay, just the premiere, last week's ep, and tonight's finale) and really enjoyed it! Tonight's final episode was held at the Hollywood Bowl (which holds favorite memories for me). Since I was an occasional viewer, I appreciated that they gave a brief overview of the projects they worked on and shared more personal info on the final two characters. After last week's projects, I felt Dona Read more:Finale

American Idol Gives Back - Results Show (aka The Telethon) 2007-04-26 08:42:00 Halfway through tonight's episode, Mr. TV Junkie said, "How can they send anyone home on a charity event night?"After a moment, I snarkily replied, "How could they do that unless they send TWO people home next week???"I guess we were both right. We watched the entire episode sans commercials until LOST kicked in on the DVR. For a charity night, the celebrity spots were entertaining. My personal favorite was seeing the children's choir who sang alongside Josh Groban. They were the cutest. As a parent, some of the images and stories were difficult to watch. I was reminded how blessed I am for the little things taken for granted - food on the table, good health and access to health care and excellent schools and teachers for my children. As one who is involved in cause marketing, the show producers did an amazing thing to shed light on the epidemic of poverty in Africa and the US while furthering the American

American Idol Top 6 Performances 2007-04-24 23:48:00 Inspirational Evening Recap -(Click the idol talk button to see more reviews!)To kick off Idol's "Idol Gives Back" charity event, tonight's theme focused on songs of inspiration. The clips they showed of Ryan and Simon in Africa were very heartfelt. At the risk of being 'gimmicky', I truly believe that this show is using its influence for something good."It's different than whatever you're used to" - tour guide to Ryan Seacrest"It's just unbelievable. It's just wrong." - Simon, in response to the living conditions of a malaria patient. Malaria is the #1 killer in all of Africa. At first, I thought inspirational evening would be cheesy... but it turned out some powerful performances.Chris R."Change the World"Chris started a little rough vocally, like his voice wasn't completely warmed up. But, I thought he did extremely well taking a very recognizable and well-liked song, and turned it into his own without completely going overboard. I enjoyed his improv and nuances.Melinda"The Read more:American

Who is TV Junkie? 2007-02-25 03:09:00 I'm just a California-native, wife and mom of 3 kids (aged 6, 3, 1).At the end of the day when the kids are finally in bed, I like to unwind with a glass of wine in the tub by watching a little TV with Mr. TV Junkie
. I have a wide interest in TV shows (some I'm too embarrassed to admit like The Hills!).Mr. TV Junkie likes Sci-Fi channel and I have come to enjoy his shows (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG1 & Atlantis) and he now enjoys mine (24, American Idol, LOST, etc.).Since we added the DVR to our family, we watch more TV shows and fewer commercials. We can also watch at our leisure. Every once in awhile I see moments or hear quotes that I like about the shows.TV Shows that have story lines deep in anthology or mysteries or great writing are my favorites to blog about and I always wonder what others are thinking. I started this blog to keep track of my favorite shows and to share and chat with others of the same interest. It has also been a fun experiment to learn how blo
American Idol: Top 6 (Take 2) with Bon Jovi 2007-05-02 02:41:00 Bon Jovi week(Click the idol talk button to see more reviews!)I enjoy the master class sessions and seeing the artist coaching the idol hopefuls. You get to see a side that you don't see on stage or in music videos. I've never been a huge fan of Bon Jovi, but I grew up with their music (and their big hair) and had many memories pop into my thoughts.Jon told the idols that they needed to "wrap their arms around the lyrics 'cause they all told stories to a lot of people". I loved that statement. And, I guess I have enough memories around a couple of these songs for that statement to resonate true with me.After a “bye” week in eliminations, the Idol hopefuls were singing for keeps tonight to make sure they weren't part of this week's double-elimination.Phil“Blaze of Glory”Strong vocals for Phil. His confidence was soaring (must feel good to sing in front of an audience with a mic instead of a mirror with a comb ;) ). He’s really singing to win this week. Decent outfit. LOST- "The Man Behind the Curtain" Pre-show Thoughts 2007-05-09 23:30:00 As we near the season 3 finale of LOST (only 3 more shows!), I am so very curious how the season will end. Will we get more answers? Will they only lead to more questions? Will I end up loving or hating the finale? Will I make it until December without looking any spoilers?!? [I've been SO good this year - avoiding the forums and spoiler sites!]Last week's show "The Brig", revealed a very significant connection between two of the LOSTaways, yet raised an entire slew of questions. (What are Juliet & Jack hiding? What is Ben going to show Locke? Who is Naomi? Is Kate pregnant?)In anticipation of tonight's epic episode, I've ventured out to read about "The Man Behind the Curtain
". Hopefully, we'll learn some real answers about The Others, Dharma, and/or The Island. I love that the show is so full of connections and literary clues and so rich in 'mythology'.Here are a few things I have come across:From TVGuide.com: Lost 10 pm/ET ABC New Locke's dead dad means one down and
