Kompakt releases The Field's debut album
2007-02-21 16:33:51
The Field is Axel Willner from Stockholm. He’s made some very graceful waves with two 12-inches on Kompakt , had one of the best tracks on the latest “Pop Ambient“ compilation, and is now gearing up to release his full-length debut , “From Here We Go Sublime”. His stated respect for the work of Kompakt head Wolfgang Voigt (aka Gas, Mike Ink, Freiland) isn’t just an employee complimenting the boss’s tie; Willner’s music obviously draws from the shape-shifting ambience of Voigt’s final Gas album “Pop”, though Willner favors builds and drama over pure mood. Korg introduces new Live Control Mixers
2007-02-15 16:31:45
Music is created in a dynamic process, where the artist works in a fluid fashion following their inspiration freely. The tools of the stage/studio have become more like instruments, to be played and manipulated in realtime as part of this creative process. Mixing, control, and effects all are part of the performance, and all are at the core of this revolutionary new instrument. ZERO LIVE CONTROL MIXER — you have just met the future. (more…)

Pantha Du Prince - This Bliss
2007-02-15 15:30:43
At home, he is a tourist. We are talking about Hendrik Weber - DJ,  producer, composer, furniture maker - who keeps on exploring new worlds of sound under his pseudonyms Panthel, Gluhen or as bassist of Hamburg-based group Stella. And finally again under Pantha du Prince . After remixes for Depeche Mode or phantom/ghost and releases of  “two of this summer’s most wonderful hits (according to a review written by bleed in de:bug magazine on “Lichten/Walden”), his new album is out now: here is “This Bliss ” - a record that again acts both at the  heart and at the boundaries of House and Techno music. It was produced here and elsewhere, on trips, while visiting friends, on the train, the airplane or when travelling between Hamburg, Berlin, New York and an old Parisian monastery.  (more…)

Sven Vath's "The Sound of the Seventh Season"
2007-01-26 07:39:38
On the 10th of November 2006, Sven Vath released at the well-known label Cocoon, "The Sound of the Seventh Season ". The CD has two mixes which contain the sound of this summer's Ibiza, where Sven Vath had a residency. Although the music has been played all summer, it has an actual sound, clear and still very successful.   The first CD is called Craziness and reflects the best club atmosphere which just doesn't let you sit down. The second CD is called Continues and even if at first sight is not very different fron the first one, there are some melodic parts on this CD that make it glow more than the other one. (more…)

Global Underground: Afterhours 3
2007-01-26 07:26:54
Global Underground’s Afterhours series has become synonymous with post clubbing after parties. Pete Tong hailed the last one as his Essential CD and Afterhours has found favour with every type of music fan. This is the music you put on after the night out, when you don’t want to listen to cheesy café del Ibiza or best of chill out series 28. It’s the twisted & straight, dark & light, nice & nasty sound that juxtaposes music from every genre. 1977 legendary disco track Cerrone “Supernature” sits alongside Norwegian techno from Lindstrom; 1985 electro track Charlie Spacer Woman sounds as fresh as newer productions from Kevin Swain. Music from the last 30 years from the likes of Gus Gus, Ewan Pearson, Cinematic Orchestra, Mark Knight, Tosca, Morgan Geist and Nightmares On Wax. ‘Afterhours 3′ will also be released as 4CD unmixed set for CD-DJs and music collectors, in addition to two 4-track 12″ EPs for the purists, and kicks of

Charlie May vs Sasha - Seal Clubbing
2007-01-26 07:15:24
Seal Clubbing first began life as a commission for a forensically popular American TV series. But, as is often the way in the DJ world, the track soon found its way into the hands of Dave Seaman, who used it as the Disc 1 opener for his recent Masters Series compilation. The response was instantaneous, being hailed as the standout cut from the entire tracklist amidst a wave of message board banter. The demand was clear the record simply had to see the light of day. But not before some new interpretations were in the bag, step forward James Zabiela and Tolfrey & Sylvester. (more…)

Gabriel Ananda - Bambusbeats
2007-02-24 05:00:24
In March 2007 Gabriel Ananda is going to release his 2nd album on Karmarouge Records. On ‘Bambusbeats’ Gabriel Ananda presents us a reverse side of his extraordinary skills. Away from his well known melodic tracks now his music dips into the artificiality and abstractness of electronic sound scapes, nevertheless it is emotional and in the flesh. Gabriel Ananda put his focus on rhythm and acoustic drums wich now carry his emotions across the music and look straight to the dancefloor. This, what is coming out of the boxes fresh and untouched, is pure groove and definitive a tribute to detroitish values - the pairing of great emotional gestures and the uninevitable might of the dancefloor. After finishing work on his soundtrack to the video game “Splinter Cell&rdquo ; Tobin decided it as time to re-think his compositional processes. Having made several albums from reconstructed vinyl sources it was time to look at what else could be pulled apart and reconfigured. Amon had been told about the work of foley artists and this served as an inspiration. A foley room is where the sound effects are recorded for films. Foley artists use their imagination and ingenuity to make the right noise for the situation they are presented with. (more…)
