Today is the Day of Reckoning! Day of Truimph of Filipinos 2008-04-01 04:50:00 The news in the television and over the net is really unexpected today. I never really realized these things could have happened in just a snap. For many years and months, I have been part of demonstrations and social awareness programs for the total independence and emancipation of the Philippines from the evil that has haunted my beloved land and people. My personal silence and prayers were also sacred moments in pondering and diligent asking of miracles of great proportion in my country like the crossing of the people of Yahweh in the Red Sea.The world which has been watching in silence is also moving…most of the times in a different direction quite insensitive and naïve to the Filipinos’ crying. Maybe, there is indeed a morsel of truth that nothing could change this country and de Read more:Today

Welcome me back in the Blogsphere 2008-03-29 04:01:00 I have been out of the blogsphere for more or less two weeks. And those two weeks were really very excruciating, full of tension and tiring. Here are some facts that had happened to me on those weeks that I forcibly shut down the blogging side of me.1. I presented my thesis proposal to my methods of research teacher and an invited professor and to the whole class. I had a grilling from them though my topic is already great. The bottomline is: They wanted me to contextualize my research on househusbands ( I will be using a qualitative-phenemenological approach) into a more Filipino-based psychology and indentity. 2. The abovementioned recommendation gave lots of headaches for weeks. Its simple cause: research, research and more research! I made revisions on my frameworks and relate Read more:Welcome
Amazing And Creative Minds in Photo! 2008-03-09 21:25:00 I think readers of this blog deserve some light and refreshing posts once in a while after all the very serious issues and stuffs I previously shared. When we were still young, surely we used to do some day dreaming of becoming big and gigantic people in an illusory world where rule. It could either be like a traveller landing in a mysterious island full of little people after a shipwreck or like an anointed one by God defeating a monstrous Goliath with a sling.Well, for me, I also had my own share of day dreaming. But as they say, a dream is just a dream. My height never improved that much far from my dream of doing some nasty slam dunks during basketball games with friends. My gland maybe is quite lazy in pumping up chemicals stuffs for me to grow tall. But I think, satisfaction and conte Read more:Amazing

FEEDDJIT Live Traffic is Down 2008-03-08 01:20:00 I was wondering why my feedjit live traffic is down. I thought I mistakenly erased the code for another while I was rearranging my widgets. Of course, the most logical thing to do is check the site itself. The site is also down, with an announcement about a site maintaince. And it also redirected visitors especially feedjit users to their blog site. There the full announcement is published."Feedjit will be undergoing routine maintainance on Friday March 7th from 8pm Pacific Time to the following morning (Saturday) 8am Pacific Time. For our European customers this is 0400 GMT to 1600 GMT on Saturday March 8th 2008.For our Japanese and Asian customers this window is Saturday March 8th from 13:00 to Sunday March 9th at 0100 Tokyo Time."Oh, that is why...Ok. TreeBlogging Advocacy 2008-03-08 00:39:00 I came across this site, tree-nation.com over my browsing of some blogs of friends after seeing a very colorful animated and cool widget on their web pages. I got intrigued by this, I must say, beautiful widget, and so just found myself signing up and copying the code to my own blog.Tree Nation according to its site "is an ecological project with a focused objective: To plant 8 million trees in Niger, Africa to fight desertification! Large-scale plantation of trees will increase the land's productivity and re-generate the soil." This is such a noble act therefore. Their very campaign is founded on the reason that "desertification is potentially the most threatening ecosystem change impacting livelihoods of the poor." My Blogging Dilemma 2008-03-06 12:08:00 Yesterday, my blog is chopped. It has three columns but the right side of the blog page was nothing but a blank space.I am trying to reinvent my blog into a more grphically loaded and enticing site. Undeniable, that a good layout plus all the good placement and choices of graphics for a blog is a an enticing place to visit. Of course, the content is of much importance too. A blog site full of form and nothing in substance is still nothing worth of anyone's time.Going back...I returned my site's design to its original form, two-column blog page, for the benefit of visitors not to be shocked and disturbed by my blogs' looks yesterday as I still try to look and learn for ways to upload a new template or customize my site by myself.I am thinking of two ways to do this and so is in a state of Read more:Blogging
Apologies and SOS 2008-03-06 03:39:00 I would like to ask for apology to visitors for this somewhat chopped layout of my blog. I am in the process of reinventing the layout of my blog, making it into three column after failing so many times of uploading a template that I want from a website. I thought uploading the xml template that I really like at -theme-blogger/ was as easy as eating a cheesecake, but it really pulled out the nerves in my brain until patience ran out.Hope you still enjoy my blogs and don't forget to subsribe. Just place your email address on the feedburner subscription area. In Fairness to the Policemen But... 2008-03-05 02:32:00 I think the policemen who blocked, stopped and intimidated us should not be the only people to blame about the incident on which our basic right to freely assemble and travel without any harassment were infringed. On one instance in the encounter in Molino Road where we were stopped for almost an hour, one young police officer named Ramos was a graduate of our institution Batch '94. He quipped as we negotiate with them in a low voice: "Pasensya na po talaga mam, wala po akong magawa kasi utos sa taas eh." (I apologize, I am just obeying orders from superiors)One of senior policemen in Aguinaldo Hi-way said this as we were let go of our way after more than 20 minutes: "Pakisabi pasensya na lang po kay Dean Esmilla" (Please express my apologies to Dean Esmilla). Dean Esmilla is the former dea
Mystery Vehicle 2008-03-05 02:00:00 After being stopped and blocked thrice by policemen on our road to Makati (which eventually he have not reached), this Tamaraw FX van was harassing us. With plate number UDJ 927, this vehicle blocked the way of our buses by positing itself in the middle of the road. When one of our buses move forward, this vehicle cut it and stick to it very closely, which it did also to the other buses, leaving us stagnant. Despite the open road ahead of it, it never moved forward. One time, the person aboard it moved the side mirror of the van so that our bus would hit it. Fortunately, our driver was not as moronic as them. There were two people aboard the van wearing a vest. And per description of one of our delegates who looked unto the van's passengers, these two people are very ugly. They even harasse Read more:Mystery

The Fear 2008-03-04 22:10:00 One never really knows injustice until one encounters it and has become a victim of it. General Razon last Monday was interviewed via phone in the program of Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon in DZMM regarding policemen blocking and harassing protesters from the provinces as they try to stretch their way to the Interfaith Gathering in Makati. He said that the police force did nothing wrong and just assured the safety of everybody. At one point, DLSU-D's experience against the police force was highlighted in the interview with Failon saying how come policemen stopped and blocked students and faculty members for their reason that they were just checking for those people who may be carrying explosives and deadly weapons planning to sabotage the rally. At this, Razon expressed that why is it DLSU-

A Reflection of Mr. Salibay on Last Friday's Harassment of Policemen to DLU-D 2008-03-03 01:00:00 This is a personal reflection of Mr. Steve Salibay, fellow Faculty Member under the Religious Education Department of DLSU-D after the policemen stopped and harrassed us on our way to Makati for the Interfaith Prayer Rally. Many may have never reached Makati, but because of the indicent, the spark in the hearts of the young people to fight for truth, justice and freedom has now become a wild fire!As soon as I boarded a jeep alone from DLSU-D School Bus, can't help myself but weep in silence. I weep for my own children, friends, students and fellow teachers. It's so outrageous to think that our policemen, some of them were former students and scholars of our very own institution turned out to be goons of their own "children" and former teachers. Aren't they supposed to be the protectors of Read more:Friday

Harassment of Policemen Against DLSU-D (Part 2) 2008-03-03 00:16:00 We literally took the long way to Makati last friday for the Interfaith Gathering. Though many from DLU-D have never stepped in the business district to join in one resounding chorus the call for truth and justice in our country plagued by deceit and abuse, our small voice trapped in the hands of policemen was a blaring sound in the wilderness of Cavite that indeed, the President together with her cohorts should resign and be thrown into the pits of oblivion because of abusing their power and suppressing our basic rights as Filipinocitizens. Here are some of the pictures of busloads of students, faculty students, La Salle Brother and administrators of DLUS-D stopped and harassed by policemen at three different points: Salitran Road, Molino Road and Aguinaldo Hi-way. Here are the faces of Read more:Harassment
Harassment of Policemen Against DLSU-D (Part 1) 2008-03-01 21:00:00 So many things have been written already about what had appened during the interfaith rally last friday in Makati on which throngs of students balooned through the streets of Ayala and Paseo de Roxas. The fervor and burning spirit of the youth proved to be the new catalyst for change in our beloved country hovered by a dark cloud for eight years now, and the darkening of clouds seems to be apocalyptic if powers-to-be still stay in power. This show of calousness proved to be very "real" for us coming from De La Salle University - Dasmarinas. In the blog of one of our students Jhay at jrocas.com.ph, he perfectly retold the story of harrassment that we endured against the policemen as we tried to inch our way unto the Interfaith Gathering where our fellow students await for us. This is his ful Read more:Harassment
Studies Taking its Toll on Me! 2008-02-25 01:27:00 Been so busy lately. Sometimes I don't even know where or how to start so that everything will be accomplished. In short, I am losing my focus. Just get so overwhelmed with so many tasks both at work and in school. My requirement in the graduate school to submit a thesis proposal puts alot of pressure unto my head! My proposal which will utilize a qualitative-phenomenological approach on the lived experience of househusbands pumpz up adrenalin unto me. I am undeniably excited. However, limited books, studies and references here in our university library makes this endeavor more difficult.Aside from that, I will be taking my comprehensive exam in the graduate school four weeks from now and I have not yet even browse a single page for review!Ahhhh!"man is free, but anywhere he is in cha Read more:Studies

They Say, I Say...What's Yours? 2008-02-18 04:57:00 I found that there is a great need for me to supplement the previous blog I posted about the Catholic bishops' statement as regards to the great issue that the country is facing right now with bribery, corruption and human rights abuse. I was asked by one of the student in a seminar yesterday about the same thing and shared the message of the excellencies to her, and to her dissatisfaction. Indeed so many people are dissatisfied with the Church's stand bordering on status quo. For a long time, the Philippines is under the cloak of Spanish friars and any dissenting opinion has the price of excommunication or even death. Filipinos were chained under their supposed-to-be spiritual guidance, and social customs are only as acceptable if these are accepted by friars' standards. The rest is Read more:Yours
Making Money Online with a 13-year Old? 2008-02-17 11:31:00 If you are going to encode “make money online” on Google’s search engine, the number 1 result is that of carlocab.com with the tagline of “Make Money
at Home with a 13-year old.” Second to this is that of pinoymoneytalk.com of which I am a regular forumer. Going back to the number 1 site on Google’s search engine on the search word “make money online”, I was wondered if the site is a fake or Google’s algorithm is just unpredictable. And so I searched for a couple more times which gave the same results. Is there really a 13-year old giving you pieces of advise about internet and affiliate marketing, earning big bucks from advertising, google adsense and making it big in the field of online income generation? It is like asking for stock market tip to a 13-year old...An
Basketball Star Got Bankrupt 2008-02-15 16:25:00 In one of the forums that I frequently trade discussion with, a question was raised by one member why a great (really great) segment of the Philippines is poor. Answers flooded but most of us ended up with a consensus that attitude (towards life, future, money, family, etc) is the main culprit caused even more by financial illiteracy. These are the people who have the one-day-millionaire attitude. Don’t worry about tomorrow, what is important is that we are full today. When these people have money, they buy signature clothes, different gadgets, the latest of mobile phones, appliances, go vacation, treat their friends, give money to their relatives, buy cars and so on and so forth, just so many for me to enumerate. This is not only the case with people who were born poor and die poor Read more:Basketball

As the Bishops Say it (duhh!) 2008-02-15 09:25:00 This morning was a very cold one in a time of the year when everyone expects a hotter weather due to the coming summer. The coldness of air was sharp and pierced through my skin sending shivers down to my spine. However, weather is not attuned with the report over the radio with some Catholic bishops asking the populace for "communal action" against the pervading controversy of NBN ZTE Deal. When interviewed, the bishop of Tuguegarao clarified that "communal action" meant "praying with faith for change". The coldness in my skin turned into hot blood rushing into my head. Furthermore, he said that the Catholic Church is not involving itself into any political action against the great societal issue at hand and asks everyone to "pray".In this times of immorality and a society full of lies
Enchantment with Guava 2008-02-14 13:12:00 As I have been browsing the different pages of so many sites (both my favorite sites and sites I have just accidentally stumbled upon), almost 80% of their posts and topics is all about Valentine’s Day and hearts and chocolates. Indeed, there is no denying that this day is so special that almost everyone writes, thinks and talk about it. As I entered the premises of our school early this morning, euphoric faces of young girls holding bouquets of flowers passed by me with some other guys pale and fidgeting sitting on the nearby benches. There is no denying that Valentine’s Day is so special; love is on the air. But I decided not to share or write about the Day of Hearts, not because I want to spoil the day, or is just geek hopeless romantic, but honestly I just want something differe
Toot Your Own Horn 2008-02-13 22:04:00 “I am good. I am handsome. I am doing great. I am rich. Today is a beautiful day!”These are just but some of the lines I always recite and throw against the mirror every morning. Like a mantra, this exercise of giving myself a pat on the back, of affirming myself despite of occasional failures and disappointments I cause on others or other people have caused against me, has become a morning routine before I totally drench myself in cold water. And lately, it has become so natural and spontaneous. I guess some neighbors of my neighbors who would see me doing this would yell out at me, crazy! Or maybe they are already thinking I am one. But, hey, there is nothing totally wrong with this!I almost always ask the participants in my seminars; students and teachers most of the time, if they a
Visibility on Search Engines 2008-02-12 07:50:00 How does really search engines rank your sites? The system with which search engines work is not really known, but there are some pointers that could help all of those who really want to make their site land in the upper strata of search engine results. Here are some of the pointers and in maximizing these, surely, the visibility of your site via the search engines will boosts. 1. Very important is the relevance of the content of your site. My Everyday God 2008-02-10 15:19:00 I have moments of silence too. This is the time when after being so talkative and bombarded by so many noises and distractions around me, I find myself in the solace and comfort of reflective silence that strengthens me and replenishes the depth that I need each day. There was a photographer who wandered from one place to another searching for the most beautiful of people, scenery and culture to capture on his lens. Everytime that he will see a beautiful subject, he ends up saying, ” there is a more beautiful subject to capture than this.” And there, once again wandered in search of the most beautiful subject to capture on his lens.Eventually, the photographer got tired and old, ran out of money and found himself sitting in a lowly street near a market place. As he sat in hunger, and a
Sweet Ilonggo Language 2008-02-08 08:28:00 Ilonggos are fond of different expressions and many people are quite confused whenever they hear Ilonggos speak though they are known to be very sweet kind of people. Two years ago, my Ilocano friend in the seminary went with me and spent his summer vacation in my humble province. Little did I know that he was very excited to spend his vacation in Bacolod because my bestfriend is already his girlfriend and its their first time to see each other! And only then that I discovered, what an idiot I am! Anyway, when he was there, he was amazed by the way Ilonggos speak. People are always smilling but he always got confused whenever people are having a sour face yet speaking still in a sweet and gentle tone to his fellow. He cannot really differentiate an angry Ilonggo from a cordial Ilonggo. He Read more:Sweet
GMA vs. Lotto Jackpot 4/49 2008-04-03 22:17:00 Bloggista’s comment (thanks by the way) on my April Fool’s post made me also think: which is of greater probability to happen, me, winning the 6/49 lotto jackpot of 240 million pesos or GMA stepping down from the Presidency making a graceful (yet full of shame) exit? I studied probability way back in my Statistics class. Though most of the topics in that subject were difficult for my math-aversive mind, our young, hot and energetic teacher made us never fail in attendance…at least in attendance.Though my post was not really to fool readers or mislead them, I think I did at some point iwht some. However, my real point of posting that was to stir, especially in the end part of the blog, of which really is probable and possible among the two abovementioned difficult choices.
