Top Ten Blog Design Mistakes 2006-12-29 06:02:00 The connection is my country is still very slow and this makes my usual routine, blog surfing became slower. This makes me wonder whether a simple blog with a fast loading time will keep users from being pissed away. I then search for answers and found this article, Weblog Usability: Top Ten
Design Mistakes. In it, it tells all the things you should avoid while maintaining your blog to prevent it from reaching a 'bad' status. Slow loading time didn't make it into the list, maybe because broadband are widely used nowadays.I then compare one by one with the top ten to see what I've done wrong.1) No Author BiographiesI have one already on the sidebar which is actually available in every Blogger blogs. Maybe I'll just need to update it more and fill it up with latest 'About Me'.2) No Author PhotoI have it already as you see in my profile and Slide so I didn't make this mistake.3) Nondescript Posting TitlesThis actually says that the tile of post should tell directly what I wanted t Read more:Blog Design
Found new passion 2006-12-21 06:33:00 After leaving school and the time of playing football become lesser, I found a new passion or a new hobby for myself - blog and article reading on the web and of course, blogging. With all my time devoted into blogging, I found the blogosphere is so big and at least bigger than the space I guess... I met people, I mean bloggers, all sorts of them, like kind, helpful, and really devoted to blogging. My blog is not old, only started this year and it's age is only a few months. When start it, I didn't even know what a really meant to a blogger, then I slowly starting to step into the world, full of rants, opinions, reviews, personal journal and some offbeat or real news. Of course there are whole lot more genre for me to name. Just look at my blogroll and you will notice the variety of blogs out there.Things I get from this? I can say many. I gained a lot of knowledge since started surfing others blog, especially those blogrolled with me. As in my last post, Affiliates Appreciation, I ra
Blogosphere changing? 2006-12-17 08:08:00 I surfed through the site just now and found this article. A splog here. a splog there, pretty soon it adds up and we all lose. I was shocked to look at it and the report made me search for more and I found this on Digg, "Blogging headed for the slow lane". I spotted one element that were both in these articles - splogs or a special term for "spam blogs'.Then, I try surfing through blogs, not through by affiliating blogs since I know many of them are keen on blogging so I surf by using the "Next Blog" button in the "Nav Bar". To my amaze, I went through many blogs that have only one or two articles but in it, have Adsense or AdBrite spaces. I also noticed that some post date were way behind and the blog seems has not been updated for a long, long time.I think this will be a negative issue for the blogosphere. Since if the whole issue keep on going like this, we or people like us, so called 'passionate bloggers' might get the cold shoulder too because people will leave blog surfing a Read more:Blogosphere
Back and ready 2006-12-15 11:03:00 I am back from my Kuala Lumpur-Genting trip. I have took some photos during the trip and those who are interested can view it from my slide or in my Flickr album.Apparently, this is a happy and ecstatic trip for me although a few bumps and bruises of feelings had to be encountered during this period. I have some thrill rides. Even though I didn't ride all but it's a breakthrough for me. I haven't have that much of adrenaline rush in a single trip.Came back on this blogging seat of mine, I found that many had become too strange for me. Using the keyboard, surfing through the blogs of others and even writing this. I think I need some time to get used to it again. Here, I would like to announce that I'm back and is the trip worth it? It could well be 'yes'! Read more:ready
Affiliates Appreciation 2006-12-08 05:12:00 Anyone can see that recently my blog is starting to flood with links and the affiliates from Commission Junction has reduced. This is because I realize my passion for blogging is not to earn money, but to have people reading my articles. Sounds naive but it's true, I am very happy to see my counter ticking so fast these days and the comments were filled.I just can't imagine I can get these loads of visitors that are from mainly Malaysia, US and Australia. I am just a 16 years old and I am really pleased with all these, thanks most to my affiliated bloggers. You guys have been such good affiliates. I do hope our relationship can remain and maybe grow deeper. Many misinterpret the meaning of blog affiliate to just simply exchange links. I don't quite agree with that. My way of blog affiliating was to visit our affiliates' blog to see how well they are doing and try to solve their problems or maybe just do some communication. It's just a simple theorem from the business world, when pe Read more:Affiliates
Updates on makeover 2007-06-04 06:55:00 To my pleasant relieve and surprise, the spanking new Simple Life Of YP 2.0 is making progress smoothly. An announcement here for all my blog readers and friends, the makeover progress is in its last stage and beta version of it will be released soon (Sounds familiar?). Well, don't build up all the hopes yet since I can't make sure that it will be a rubbish in all your eyes or not, but then, it's really a cool new look. I LOVE IT!I am now transferring all the contents, including links, planning where all my photo add-ons will go and ultimately, which crap to be cut off. I am also now starting to review all the blogs listed in my blogosphere. Well, there might have some that has not been updated for over 6 months (too long) and some link exchangers has removed my links from their blog (which already terminated what we agreed from the start). To know whether you've been added during the process, just use Technorati to check, if you see a blog with a Chinese character title linking to
Trying out PayPerPost 2007-06-06 22:31:00 Today will be my second day of my Finals. I said in "Updates on makeover" that I will only be back on Friday night but I just can't get rid of my addiction to blogging. It grew stronger as I now plan to build up a first USD100, 000 income to make up my portfolio value to be invested and get more people to know what Simple Life of YP is all about. I'm not rushing and I'll wait and see how all these will progress. After I stopped writing sponsored post or blog reviews long ago, I decided to give it one more try and this is when I signed up for PayPerPost
. Well, I am just a starter in review writing (got hired by Review Column last few weeks) and it will be more hard to blend these sponsored post to make them look like my usual post. It will be a new writing skill for me to learn also.I am earning nothing out of PayPerPost yet but I will try. I admit that I am a bit greedy here but I think if I can't write a review well, I won't write. Forcing me to write will make the quality of both
Simple Life of YP 2.0 is here 2007-06-05 03:05:00 I walked against the words in my last post, Updates on makeover. I speed up all the process (supposedly studying) today and viola, let me hereby announce the grand release of Simple

of YP 2.0! (Applause...) What's all the hype you've raised on us but in the end, the piece of crap came out?! Well, if you say that now, I am pretty sorry, I really like this new layout. Moreover, it eased my job on future elements adding.I wanted to share some thoughts here about all the transferring progress that I've gone through. This new blog is only in the Beta stage so if anyone encounter any problems while surfing this blog, contact me at once! Please, I need you... Let me tell you what are the features that has been added. As you can see, the blog itself is much more cleaner, this is because I've bring in the peekaboo scripts to my blog.Peekaboo will be used from this post now on, which is the "Summary Only" link, links at the sidebar, as well as in the archive page, such as May 2007 here.
CAT Finals round up 2007-06-08 21:24:00 I've finished my CAT first paper-based Finals yesterday! Well, I did well overall, not to say extremely well and get World Prize for every paper, for sure not even one, but then, I felt satisfied. I took three papers and most probably the average mark will be around
70 or lower. Well, I'm giving a round up of all the situations and mental energies used up during the examination.CAT Paper T3 - Maintaining Financial Transactions (Wow, I still remember...)I do this paper with extreme confidence. I flipped through all the pages, seeing all the questions as dumb and silly questions. When I finished the paper, I smiled and say to myself, "This is it!". Then, after the examination, COREY CHAN MUN HOE was the first to crush my wonderful day dream. He came over,Corey: What did you wrote for profit attributed to partners?Yee Piao: A loss. I did the appropriation account that Mr. Jayan taught.C: I think the question means total amount that a partner will receive.YP: (stunned for a moment) No wa
I'm flying sweetly! 2007-06-13 11:17:00 I've been going through a plain life since coming back to Bukit Mertajam, my hometown, for my college's semester break. Maybe I'm stuck with Mr. Jayan, at least what he predicted has come true. I didn't thought of this day will come by, maybe I'm too stuck with previous 'unfortunate event'.First time over my few times returning to home that I felt productive. Although it's still boring sometimes, but when the sweet times step in, I really felt that I am on top of the world! Yes, I think you guys knew what I mean. Who will care about this anyway? I can be happy, proud, passionate, melancholic, laughs at jokes just between us.I went through a tough time but I think this one is freshening things up, gave me hope and at least spice up my holiday. My holiday seems long when my examination ended but everything seems moving at a real pace!I customised my desktop again. Part of it is that Manchester United is not coming to Malaysia already so the previous customisation was ditched and
Wipe off spyware hassle 2007-06-10 20:22:00 I am home now, I've been back and forth from my college at Sunway to Penang a few times now and I got used to things. While I'm off to college, my brother actually get to use the computer, which I am using now all alone. He is free to surf here and there, especially his Pokemon sites but not porn, I trust him at least...You guys knew how dangerous the web space is. Apart from all those dangerous contents, my brother would have went to click some pop-ups featuring some cartoons in it and being led to a site invested with spywares. Spyware is not visible, but the effect can be devastating if an perfectionist expects his PC to run at the best. Corey knows best here. Dude, I suspected that your PC is infested with spyware. What's the solution? I admit I am dumb, those ads that led me to spywares are really interesting, I'm in love with them! How? Well, your solution is here. Webroot Spy Sweeper is the most award-winning anti-spyware software. It's also a PayPerPost advertiser but I too

Boredom - The King of YP's Holidays 2007-06-18 23:10:00 This is my second week back home after coming back from home last Sunday. I think at this time my college pals are living their life to 'their most'. Edgar might be sitting in front of his rig whole day, playing those online games which sounds so weird to me, Corey is traveling around, using his Motorola E398 (changed?) to snap pictures here and there. Jason, being the closest to accounting even in this holiday had went to work in some anonymous company to get some hands-on approach in accounting. What am I doing?! I am basically doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that. In the end, nothing was done by me. I've done three gatherings with old pals, utilising the computer and text messaging whole day long, and yes, managing my virtual Manchester United with Football Manager 2007. I also messed up the whole Investopedia stock simulator of mine so nothing to boast of now...I don't have have many weeks left (I mean my holiday, not life) and I think this three weeks is really t Read more:Boredom

From boredom to laziness 2007-06-23 10:59:00 This coming week will be my last week of my holiday. Boredom I've encountered in this long holiday might have lead to laziness in me. YP just wanted to sit in front of the computer and do nothing. I am not productive this week other than one special activity. Things had been repetitive and I don't really have a serious task to work on. For the last two weeks, I still have some minor activities like hanging out with friends but activities like that had been decreasing from the start of the holiday. What I am scared of is that all these boredom might had lead to a hidden surge towards laziness. I feel like I'm not going out, I don't feel like surfing the web, I don't want to keep replying to threads in forums and so on... I just want to sit there, eat, sleep and eat again...I still have something 'productive' to do like messaging with a special person (just can't be lazy, right?) but can it be the only activity to make up my 7 days to come? My brother is still playing with his Red
YP, take this complication! 2007-06-21 09:29:00 I got several questions and requests from my friends today. One of them requested me to give a helping hand for him to pass on something very 'meaningful' to a girl and the other asked me about blog search engine optimisation issue since he is working for others to improve their blogs on search engine rankings. This two things seems simple right? Well, at least to me, they can be easily done but since it's a friend request, I can't just reject them (typical me).I've accomplished both of the tasks given and I finished them in a blink of an eye. The first one is just to easy, passing a thing to someone who lived in the same street as me. Although I don't really understand the real meaning of the stuffs (a birthday present with a Power Point presentation) even after the long and restless explanation from my friend, I did manage to pass those things to the subject and did what he requested to. OK, I am like a dispatch boy here...The other case, I explained the whole thing in a very s
Blinds - The solution 2007-06-20 11:51:00 This few days has been a little hot here. The temperature rises to about 31 degree celcius being the highest. I can't bear the heat and I think I'll be dying under the sun rays if not of the blinds that have been put up on the window by my mum. Other than blocking the sunlight from trespassing your cozy home, blinds also helps to improve proportions and balance in a room (if you have some interior design sense here).Venetian blinds is simple, not over modern nor too formal. They can be there to enhance your window without making it complicated with all those laces and bombastic knitting. With venetian blinds, you can keep your privacy (as seen in most movies and dramas), stopping others from peeping through the window and as I pointed out earlier, a sunscreen. You might say "why not use curtains?". Well, I think I'm going to have a hard time choosing those designs and colours I like since there are so many selections (TerrysFabrics sponsored me for this). To make this easier, why Read more:Blinds
Furniture for bloggers 2007-06-27 01:03:00 Keeping the inspiration available is very important for a blogger. Everything around us must be inspirational, including furniture. Young aspiring blogger like me might not even have the chance to travel often (I can give trouble my requesting transport here and there). Thus, I stayed at home. What you see often in your home are your furniture, which might provide you the place and environment to nurture your thoughts.Living room furniture will be the most important to me since I spent most of my time in the living room, either as a gathering place with friends and family or a place to gather thoughts by reading and watching television. Furniture
provided by Furniture From Home really can give comfort and serenity in helping we bloggers
to seek inspiration. What if I became a full time blogger (It's possible, OK?)? There should be a proper place in my house that I would name it my office. What home office furniture will I put in there? Furniture From Home offers some that I really like
Selfishness won't do you good 2007-06-25 08:20:00 Selfishness is not a positive term. It goes to the blogger community and the blogosphere as well. When I started Simple Life of YP, I ignored visiting blogs which have high traffic or newbie blogs. Maybe it's because I'm jealous of those Big Boys and have looked down at those new bloggers as well. I realised about my wrong just in time and quickly started responding to emails from my readers and blog pals.Bloggers can't keep all to him/herself. Sharing is caring. Also, in this boom of technology, what secrets or techniques can be kept? Internet users are smart and whatever secret can be exposed at the time it set its foot on the internet. if you help others this time, maybe at the time when you came to a dead end, some people out there might be in the right place and right time to help you out.Maybe you might be jealous of those Big Boys like John Chow, Techcrunch or Engadget because they are superior with their amount of readers and you don't want to give a linkback to them even y Read more:Selfishness
Crazy transition 2007-06-28 08:53:00 My 3 weeks holiday is coming to an end at last. I have been idle for the past three weeks, not touching that have relations with accounting. I have been lazing around doing nothing, other than making about USD80 from PayPerPost (small amount but it's still money). Life has been plain and worse, I complained that I am bored and this holiday has made me a lazier person.D-Day is coming and my new semester will commence on 3rd of July. I will be back to college this Saturday. I'll be taking up 4 papers in a go for my ACCA foundation, CAT next semester. 4 papers and these of course will be harder ones. I can't answer you whether I can take it or not yet until I get my hands on the textbooks and classes. Any words of motivation or anonymous criticisms? It's like about one month I isolate myself from campus life. Things will be very odd I guess when I go back this Saturday and to sleep in my hostel room yet again. Life goes on but this will be he biggest transition in my college life so fa Read more:Crazy
Sorting out PayPal issues 2007-07-03 03:31:00 Don't say no to PayPal
before you find ways to say yes! When I am typing this, my life and my USD80+USD9 is on Edgar's shoulders as this friend of mine is helping me making magic here. I thought I should be able to receive my funds into my PayPal account successfully but not until when I was about to receive funds for writing reviews at Review Column which I am hired as a reviewer. I can't seem to receive any incoming funds because PayPal now needed a "verified by a credit card account" to receive funds for a Malaysian. Should I hate PayPal by now? There's some solutions for me, although "PayPal hates Malaysia" were said by many Malaysians out there. I am proud to be in this country as there are still solutions for me due to all those innovative Malaysians out there. What I will be doing is two open two more accounts with different parties, which hopefully can get my PayPal account verified and allows me to withdraw my funds from PayPalLet me explain on paper here on what I will be d Read more:Sorting
Blog and my update 2007-06-30 23:06:00 This will be the first time I am blogging with my laptop in my college. Just an happy updates for you guys. As you can see, there was finally an advertiser who likes my blog and I'm so thankful to FireFly for choosing my blog to advertise. Upon finishing the campaign, I'll be receiving RM50! Not a big number but at least Nuffnang ads is producing "something" here.I think this is another milestone for my blog though. Why? Jason only received RM0.50 from Nuffnang but I am way more than that. Sorry for this comparison dude, just to make the number sounds big. Anyway, from now on, link exchanges are still accepted only for personal blogs. I like personal blogs and any linking out from Simple Life of YP to any blogs which does not share the same niche, which is PERSONAL, will not get a fair share out of my PR5 (the main reason).Apart from that, if you have a blog which can provide interesting infomation and of course will mean a good read for me, you will be added into my list of good rea
Frustration at the wrong time 2007-07-06 05:33:00 All loyal blog readers following my posts might know that I just started my new semester and will have a lot of pressure learning new stuffs like taxation, audit and some more advanced accounting syllabus. What I always don't like about classes is that during the class, I can't follow! Doomed... I don't mean I don't like classes, it's just that frustration will grow at once. Luckily YP is a cool-headed guy is situation like this but still, there's some frustration left in me.My class session is from 9am to 5pm today, which of course multiplied the degree of frustrations every minutes gone by. I decided to vomit it all out in my blog or at least, replying some emails and comments might open my mind a bit. Things don't always go our way, even when we are in the state of despair or maybe sorrow...What happened you might ask? Well, before you guys and girls reading at this, do you find accessing my blog a bit troublesome and there seems to be some bug? Worst thing that happened to m Read more:Frustration
E-mail address can change things 2007-07-12 04:36:00 At last I got some time out of my crammed schedule to post something here. I was just bloghopping to my full list of blogs to visit and some anonymous blogs that came up on Technorati and Google searches. For various reasons like a long comment on their post and trying to express my whole view on their blog, I decided to contact their author.I spent my precious time (due to all sorts of tasks waiting for me) finding for their respective e-mail addresses but for some, I failed to dig them out and some hid it deep in the woods. Wordpress blogs will usually have an "About Me" page and the e-mail address is usually there. For Blogger blogs, some bloggers showed their e-mail address on the sidebar and the Blogger profile usually will have the e-mail address of the blogger.Although Blogger provide profile page but many still don't leave their e-mail address there. I know we all afraid of spams but sometimes this is very important for readers like me. I love to contact through e-mails! When Read more:things
Homework? Assignments? 2007-07-09 04:30:00 Someone e-mailed me on why I am not frequently updating, even though I've got myself a new notebook? My stats is in a free fall as well and maybe it's because due to the lack of updates. To be very innocent, it's not that I don't want to update (three days once only), you should see how long my assignment list is and I blamed the most on PayPerPost. Why isn't there a big fat juicy advertiser for me to bite on?!No more blames then. My assignments is really a lot, apart from all those understanding in classes problems. I should be lucky to be here still typing this post. Cheers for me! I've not been lurking in the blogosphere for quite a time so and there goes my inspiration of life and what to blog about. Whenever I am free, I'll try to make some of my time to my blog.Speaking about my assignments, I caught myself suddenly having to do lots of stuffs (luckily my Ambank NexG Card was sent) and it seems like there's no the end to it! Just today, I think I'll have to open lots of Read more:Homework
Guiding to my jealousy? 2007-07-15 00:37:00 I've gave out a few if not many guides and comments on many blogs, either they want it or not. If you've sent me an e-mail asking for some help or opinion, you should have known that I will for sure give a reply. I don't guarantee I can help (who can?) but I will reply. The blogosphere is booming for these few months and many blogs' quality had improved and more quality blogs had popped out.I get to know more new bloggers and gave out more guides and troubleshooting. People might asked me "When you see the blog in the same niche as yours using something like you have been using, for example, peekaboo codes, will you get jealous?". Well, I don't. It's good to see if every personal blog is improving, it will be ridiculous if you have the sense of jealousy and isolation when you see someone is better than you.Engaging yourself with more people in the blogosphere will mean you can get to improve more, in many terms of blogging. Maki from DoshDosh.com saw this early and had Using Comp
More on me.. 2007-07-17 02:53:00 YP was tagged by Ben Chin (now I got your name) with the original posts at "8 random habits/facts about me~". I have not reply to certain taggings for a while now since I find those questions bulky. This is different, I can write whatever I want about me in this reply. Here are those rules (I hate rules):Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their names.Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.So here goes 8 facts or habits of YP...1. I am really into blogging. Whether my blog has the worst stats in the blogosphere or not, the blogosphere will still have me around. I love blogs more than Google, but of course, Google helps me to search blogs.2. Investment and monetary figures forms a huge part of my life's pie chart, subsequent to blogging
Giving up already? 2007-07-20 05:21:00 Another school week ends for me. It was a hectic one, filled with tonnes of assignments as usual, worsen with some information that made me did more than wanted. I don't know what is the purpose but some lecturers of mine kept telling us that if we feel pressured and don't like it, QUIT CAT (the course I am in)! I am not moved or whatever by the statement since I never did thought of quitting it but what are the intentions?I think they are good people and by doing this, they might be motivating us or helping those who are struggling to consider for the 'better choice'. In our lives, they is one simple rule - "You will not get things out of nothing". You probably get something out of nothing before, tell me, maybe I'm wrong here anyway. To achieve something you wanted to achieve, you must put in effort. Enduring in a course, whatever the course is, not just ACCA courses, you need to have that continuity. If you have already made your decision to start something, you should have plan Read more:Giving
Working with friends 2007-07-22 01:02:00 I had my Moral Studies lesson (compulsory for any courses you are in) yesterday. I got myself being elected as the leader, although I tried to push the responsibility away. Since everyone in the team is pushing it away as well, I guess that I didn't pushed s hard as them. "I stayed in the hostel", what a lame reason is this....As the leader, I don't even know when is the dealine and what to do with all the presentation stuffs. What I know now is to dig out all the information and news, relating to GENDER DISCRIMINATION (my presentation topic). Anyone is a victim of this society norm can contact me as soon as possible to get an interview from me. If you are not, you can help me to find all those sources of these information as well.Too bad my laptop did not came with the Microsoft Office package. Price For Charity 2007-07-26 03:31:00 After 2:30pm yesterday, my Moral Studies Community Service Group went to House Of Hope situated somewhere in Taman Paramount to do a preview before we start our community service this Sunday. The feeling was excited before reaching there as we stopped for lunch on the way there. Also, my Ambank NexG card application met some blockages as I only submit one-sided photocopy of my Identity Card. As a result, I fax another copy from an Ambank branch. When we were briefed by the director and had a walk aound the orphanage, I felt a sudden chill. I am not sure why this happen to me but the tone of the moment there is so stiff. We went round and round, inquire about this and that. We had mixed feelings, some felt being robbed, some felt like crying and some stayed exicted. I lost my mood for the day as I just had my tough Taxation and Audit classes just before the visit. After that, we ended up in Giant Mall which I don't know where is it (somewhere in Petaling Jaya) to get some PVC balls for t Read more:Charity
Being sleepy means trouble 2007-08-01 04:24:00 For two consecutive days I am nearly late for class (not a usual thing for me) and I even felt sleepy in class. I myself don't know what had happened to me. It is surely not the overdose of surfing the blogosphere since I went back to my hostel (I can't online in my hostel) earlier after I got my notebook last holiday. What did I do every night you might ask. Well, I study for most of the time, watch Cantonese dramas while I am having my dinner, text messaging people and slept at usually before 1am. The time I woke up another day was supposed to be 7am but recently, I will just off the alarm of my phone and dozed off again.Maybe the lack of sleep (only 6 hours) is the reason but if I really wanted to sleep early, there's no way I can finish my homework, do my revision and have time for supplementary readings. Being NEARLY late is only part of the serious problem. The main problem is that I felt sleepy in class. Being sleepy means no full attention given during lectures and my brain ca
