UK and Indian Small Cars
2008-04-14 18:01:00
It’s interesting to note that the United Kingdom has launched a study to take stock of the impact that the Indian automobile Industry may have on their own auto industry. For decades UK has been a hub of car manufacturers with major global players operating successfully from there. Now, the advent of the Indian automobile industry in the world arena is surely something that makes others pull up their socks. UK's car industry is facing a number of challenges as it moves ahead into the next decade particularly when it comes to tackling a continued rise in competition from countries such as China, India and Eastern European entities that are able to build and sell cheap cars.UK is working to ensure that its car industry can build on existing strengths and remain competitive in an in

Ford Fusion fails, where CRV scores
2008-04-16 02:08:00
Did Ford need Fusion at all? I think no. Fusion has been moving slowly in sales clearly giving a signal to its manufacturers. Though it may have been a fast mover in Europe, but the car has not made any significant impact on the crossover SUV in Indian car market. Look at the recently launched Honda CRV. It has sold several numbers across several cities. The demand for the SUV is just dropping in like leaves from a tree in autumn. Fusion only has an impressive interior and its off-road tyres, but nothing more. Its performance of 68 bhp seems too little. Its heavy body mass dose not give the push you want from a Ford car. The unimaginative designing is also of no help. The petrol and diesel variants are good on road performances but slow while moving of the shelf. Ford would have done

Discrepancies in Car prices
2008-04-16 01:59:00
Are car manufacturers selling us Indian cars at prices higher than that they are sold in Western countries. But most car manufacturers would say that they are holier than thou! Look at this – Skoda is selling Laura which puffs out 200 bhp power for European markets. But, the same car come with half power -100 bhp, is sold in India. And the price is same! Don’t you think that car manufacturer’s should lower down the prices and fix it according to the performance! Look at Skoda’s performance. It does not feature in any premium car manufacturer list in Europe, but in India it is doing roaring business. It shows that car manufacturers still think Indians car buyers can be convinced to buy anything they give.

2008-04-19 01:16:00
You know that banks love loans and borrowers. They love to net customers with various loan offers and can go to any length to do it. Forget home loans, the latest trend is car loans in banking circles. Many public sector banks have already started wooing customers with different offers. After noticing that car loans were going slow due to high interest rates, the banks have devised ways of making it look more attractive. The Bank of India (BOI) and Union Bank of India (UBI) have already reduced interest rates on car loans. The biggest banking chain State Bank of India (SBI) Mumbai zone has recently organised a special rally for its customers to promote car loans in the month of March. The rally is open to all its customers in Mumbai and Thane. The campaign is expecting to last till Ap

Only 50 thousand Nanos for 2008 -2009
2008-04-18 03:43:00
When Tata Motors announced the availability of Rs 1 lakh car Nano by October many were left wondering what would be the situation of our already overcrowded roads. But this fear seems not to be a reality in the near past. News is that Tata Motors will be rolling out just 50,000 cars from its Singur plant during 2008–09. Vendors associated with the people's car project told expect an output of around 15,000 units between September and December going up briskly to 35,000 units during January-March of this fiscal. Tata Motors has already announced that the bulk production would only start in 2008–10. Besides its plant in India, Tata Motors has plans to manufacture and assemble Nano cars in South Africa for the African market.

Air cars coming soon in Indian cities
2008-04-18 01:12:00

No rivals for Tata Nano
2008-04-17 02:18:00
The Tata Nano rival may miss its initial launch date by a few months. The two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto moved into four wheeler auto with Bajaj Lite. Developed by Bajaj engineers, it is expecting to give a tough competition to Tata’s dream car the Nano, which is claimed to be the world’s cheapest car. The company had planned to launch the car with French car manufacturer Renault. But the project seems to be facing delays since the time it was unveiled at the 9th auto expo, 2008. With limited number of Tata Nano hitting the market for a couple of years, Bajaj Lite would have helped balance the demand for ultra low cost car. But with the delay, the Nano may have no rivals at all, when it is launched in this year end.

Compact sedan segment gets competitive
2008-04-17 02:12:00
With in a span of six months, the entry level car segment has become the most competitive segment. Interestingly, all these cars are under the 4 meter length and quality for a lesser excise duty than regular sedan s. First Tata Motors launched Indigo CS, and recently Maruti released the Swift DZire in March. Toyota has also jumped the fray and has announced a small sedan to compete against the two big players. While Suzuki tampered with existing car Swift, Toyota will bring with the Japanese experience of small cars. It has partnership with Daihatsu Motors, a leading manufacturer of small cars in Japan. The company is also appreciated for meeting international standards for car comfort. So when you can get all conveniences and comforts in smaller sedans, why go for larger cars at all?

JLR could put Tata in elite club
2008-04-17 02:12:00
Tata Motors has done something that no car manufactures have ever done before in India. With the Jaguar takeover, Tata has given a new turning point to the Indian Automobile Industry. According to a section of UK press, Tata could now compete with the Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Nissan, the ultimate luxury statements, if it increases production of Jaguar and Land Rover. The marketing would not be difficult as Jaguar and Land Rover are strong brands of style statement in UK, US and other developed economies. If the company decided to go for aggressive marketing and hike production volumes, then it would surely catapult Tata to the elite club easily. But still we have to wait to see if other Indian company would go for such a strategy.

2008-04-21 04:49:00
The rising steel price s have put a lot of pressure on car manufacturers to raise car prices. The cost of steel has increased by 3.5 percent. The prices have risen despite of efforts by the union government and steel manufacturers. The added cost of steel will increase inputs cost which will have a cascading effect on the entire cost of the car. Mahindra Renault has already increased prices of Logan, and Tata has upped prices on its entire range of commercial vehicles. So far, the small car segment remains untouched by the hike in steel prices. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have postponed their decision to hike prices of cars. Tata has decided to weather the crisis and has retained the same prices for its passenger cars. However, the rising inputs cost could force the car manufacturers to c
