Tom's Sporting Almanac reports on the upset caused by Thomas Walsh leaving Carlow for Wicklow.Transfers within the GAA remain something of a taboo subject. 2007-02-21 11:53:49
Just a few months after captaining Ireland at the Homeless World Cup in South Africa, Simon Canning has died.Simon will be remembered for his great love of sports and in particular football where he only recently captained the Irish Street soccer team that participated in the Homeless World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa in September 2006 bringing home the Edinburgh Cup. He was an inspirational captain whose desire to achieve was evident to all. That was his competitive side but there was a tender and loving side to Simon that was evident to all who saw him interact with the orphan children he met in Africa, a naturalness and gentleness that belied his tough and imposing frame.

Scottish pro-rugby on the rocks - Dewey signs for Ulster
2007-02-24 22:32:25
Whatever about Danielli, an average enough Scottish fringe international, signing for Ulster , the signing of Rob Dewey by the Ulstermen is a bleak moment for Scottish pro rugby. A young, talented and very robust first centre, his abilities were well underlined by his performance for Scotland against Wales two weekends ago. If the Scottish RFU cannot afford to keep players like him at home - a player who is very much the future of the Scottish international midfield - it does not bode well for the future of their domestic pro game.[Submitted by jjcarroll]

Leinster Provincial Towns Cup
2007-02-24 22:32:25
