Smart Ways to Use Your Business Card
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Your business card is one of the most valuable networking tools you have in your quest for increased referrals. Can you envision a reality where 20 to 30 people in your word-of-mouth marketing circle carry your cards and have them ready to hand to prospects they're actually qualifying for you? I certainly can, and am excited every time I hear someone say, "Let me give you my friend's business card; oh, and by the way, may I have him (or her) give you a call?"The business card is the most powerful single business tool--dollar for dollar--you can invest in. It's compact, energy-efficient, low-cost, low-tech, and keeps working for you hours, weeks and even years after it leaves your hands! Some of the things your business card does is:Tell people your name and the name of your businessProvide prospects with a way to contact youGive others a taste of your work, style and personalityIt can be so unusual or attractive or strange or charming or funny that it sticks in the memory like a grea

Ebay Shipping & Handling
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Flat Rate or Actual Shipping Fee?I like to charge a flat fee. Get a postage meter scale (you can find cheap ones on Ebay) so that you know about how much things will cost. List your flat rate in your auction. It is such a hassle to charge exact ship rates, because people will email you for the ship cost and you have to email them back a rate. Half the time they don't end up winning the auction anyway. As a customer, its nice to know up front, when you're considering a bid on an auction, what you will pay in shipping. No one is upset when it comes out to be a little higher that the actual ship cost, because they know up front. I also think I get more bids this way. I put a ship rate on each item and sometimes I make a little money there, but sometimes I lose money, so it all works out in the end. Don't add a huge "handling" fee. Most buyers know what it costs to send something and will not bid on an auction if they feel they are being taken advantage of with shipping fees. A small up

Ladybug Analog Clockpaper platesmarkers and crayonsnumeral stampsblack constructionpaper arrows bradsTo encourage the children to practice telling time on an analog clock, use paper plates to make Ladybug clocks. The children color one side of the paper plate to look like a ladybug's body. Then they use numeral stamps to add the numerals around the clock. Two construction paper arrows attached to the center of the plate with brads made the hands. The children use half a circle of black construction paper to make the head and six strips of black construction paper for the legs. Use the clocks to practice telling time several ways. Call out a time and they can make it on their clock and hold it up (every pupil response). Play "Around the World" with the Grouchy Ladybug by having two children race to make the time on their clocks that the teacher names. The children can use the clocks to race to make the time on the clock and hold it up as the teacher calls out times. The one who is firs

Cleaning Tips & Tricks

Bathroom Odors:Place an opened box of baking soda behind the toilet to absorb bathroom odors.Carpet Stains:Baby wipes are miracle-workers on carpet stains, from motor oil to blood, they remove almost anything!Candle Wax: To remove wax from carpeting or other fabric, first scrape away any excess. Then, place a brown paper bag over the wax and run a warm iron over the bag. The wax will melt right into the bag! Continue moving the bag around as you pick up the wax so you are always using a clean section. If a little grease stain remains on carpet, sprinkle with baking soda and allow to sit overnight before vacuuming, which will remove the grease residue. If colored wax leaves a stain on carpet, blot with spot remover or carpet cleaner, following label directions.Freshen Linen Closet:In the linen closet place cotton balls that have been sprayed with your favorite scent. Once they are dry place them in corners and on the shelves.Pet Urine on Carpet:First, blot up what you can with paper tow

Scrapbook Journaling Ideas

List It! That's right...just make a list! List personality qualities of the person in the picture, reasons why you and a friend are buddies, your personal top 10 lists, or anything you can think of!Make a Recipe!Include all of the "ingredients" or important details that were part of the occasion in a recipe format. Here's one for example: "Put all cousins together in a backyard. Mix in sprinklers, water balloons, and lots of sunshine. Set temperature to 95 degrees. Let play until sunburned!" It's a fun and creative way to tell all of the details about the day!Say it with a Song.Music has a great power to it and words to songs often conjure up a lot of emotion and memories. So, why not include the words to a song on your page? This is a great journaling technique to include on School Prom pages, Baby lullaby pages, Anniversary pages etc! On this page I included my favorite song that I sing to my son with these pictures of him sleeping.Question, Question! Be a reporter! Simply ask a

Developing Reading Behaviors
1970-01-01 00:59:59
One of the first steps to becoming a reader is developing positive reading behaviors. Even before children can "read", they should be involved with books and print in a positive way. Children who have developed positive reading behaviors choose to read. They enjoy pretend reading, sharing ideas, and asking questions about stories.Read to your child on a daily basis. You may want to establish a nightly routine of a bedtime story.Talk with your child about stories you have read together. Allow your child to "read" familiar stories to you. Accept his/her version of the story.Get a public library card for your child. Allow your child to select the story he/she would like to hear, even if you have already read it 100 times. Provide a special place for your child to keep his/her personal books and library books. This special place will send the message that books are important.Select different types of books and a wide variety of reading materials for your child to choose from (e.g., magazin

Parent Time-Out
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Pick your time-out spot. Probably not the same little chair you banish your kids to, but rather a place where you can hide for a few minutes while you blow off steam and let strong emotions pass. Your bedroom may be the most logical place, but anyplace with a door that can shut out the world will do.Let your kids know where you’re going. Tell them you’re giving yourself a time-out, and then get in the zone. Seeing an adult deal with stress, annoyance and loss of control in a way that doesn’t involve yelling is a good lesson in coping skills. And if you’ve already blown your top, you’re at least letting them know that you’ve planned for this and are still the adult in charge.Set a time limit. It would be nice if we could actually take that minute-for-every-year-of-age we throw at our kids. Most of us would have time to read a book, watch a TV show, maybe even take a nice long bath. But most of us would also find the house a disaster when we finally emerged. Five minutes shou

Meetings that bring together family

1.Make stronger connections among individuals and, therefore, creates a closer family. In this very busy world, designating this time every week is one way to ensure that family members stay connected with one another. Relationships are living things, and must be nurtured. Family meetings are about nourishing our relationships with the most important people in our lives. Form the habit of connecting regularly.2. Create family value statements and operating principles.Family meetings give you a chance to discuss what's important to you as a family and to create family value statements, which reflect your collective thoughts. Similarly, they give you a chance to talk about how you want to operate together as a family and treat one another, by developing family operating principles.3. Share appreciations and give thanks for our many blessings. This is a way to give children and adults permission to let one another know how much they are appreciated, and to share the many things they have t

Beginner's Guide To Couponing
2007-03-01 17:20:00
How do I get started?1. Get the Sunday papers (yours, your neighbor's, your friend's, your enemy's). In with the ads (typically inside the comic sections), you will find coupon inserts. Most weeks there are two of them, one called SmartSource (SS) and one called Valassis (once a month there is also usually a P&G brandsaver insert as well). You need to obtain lots of these coupon inserts for as little money as possible. You probably already get your own paper - so there's one.To get more, there are several possibilities.First ask everyone you know. Believe it not, most people don't coupon. They either throw them all out or just cut out a couple that they want and throw out the rest. You want them all. So ask for any leftovers.Second, if you live in or near an apartment complex go by their recycling section and see how many inserts the residents have thrown away.Third, go to your local recycling center and scour around - this is typically what people mean when they say theyâ€

Save Money with Coupons
2007-03-03 17:41:00
With a new baby coming, I'm looking for ways to save money. I started couponing. It's amazing how they work! You have to really know what your doing to get a great deal. So, I looked around and found this site-http://refundcents.com/subscriptions.htm?RefID=F283I went to refundcents and signed up right away. I don't bother with the internet deals on the home page, but when you subscribe you get online access plus these magazines called Refund Cents that have great stories and pictures about people who stockpile a ton of free stuff, plus she lets you know of every deal imaginable. I just got one of the magazines today and on the cover was a lady who got $6000 in free stuff by spending only $200 or so and donated it to several organizations. On the site she also lists and has links to all the stores with deals, she has a section for beginning couponing, lists all the coupons in each flyer, etc. I mostly love the magazine and find the site so big that I don't have time to explore it mu

Toddler Independance
2007-03-05 14:33:00
At about age two or three, many toddlers will come to want to more independant. They want to do everything for themselves but they haven't quite got the skills , or patience ;), to do so.As these abilities develop, they'll come to learn they can do it. These are big accomplishes for them. And then even when they have learned to do something, they want Mama to do it all. It's quite frustrating when you know they are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. But give them some slack, these new skills are a little scary.Don't make it a battleWhen you child refuses to do something they've mastered, meet him halfway. You do half, he does half. This will meet his need for the babying he longs for sometimes.Doing this will actually help him see that he does want to be more grown-up.Make it a GameHave a race. Take off the dirty clothes and shoot a basket into the dirty clothes.Try whatever makes your child happy.Patience is A VirtueIt might take twice as long and much more messy when your bab

Commom Car Seat Mistakes
2007-03-06 16:46:00
Do Put an infant under 1 at any weight in a rear facing carseat at a 45-degree angle. If it's too flat, your baby might wiggle down. And if it's up to high, theier head will flop down.Using a rolled up towel underneath the seat will help.Don't ever put a child in a forward facing carseat until he is at least one. My son was over 20 lbs. by age one but she told me laws had changed. Wait until the first birthday rolls around.Do choose a seat with the five point harness. This will hold your child more securely.Don't leave the harness straps loose.Do take your car to a local safety seat inspection. You'll come to find out most parents have not properly installed the car seat. Why do they make something so difficult that involves saving your baby's life?Don't forget to tighten the safety attachements when installing the carseat. You shouldn't be able to wiggle more than inch from side to side.Do put your big kid in a booster seat until age 8 or 57 inches tall, whichever comes first.New

SIDS
2007-03-09 17:02:00
More babies die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome each year than from any other killer. Learn how to prevent your baby from being at risk for SIDS from the American Academy of Pediatrics.According to studies done by the American Academy of Pedatrics, there are a variety of risk factors involved with SIDS that all parents should be aware of. To avoid this silent, unexplainable killer, follow the AAP's recommendations for your infant's sleeping habits (especially in the first year).Sudden Infant Death Sydrome (SIDS) is the unexpected and sudden death of an infant in which a thorough exam, examination of its clinical history, and investigation of the place of death fails to reveal a cause.Although the cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is still unknown, researchers have found similar characterisitcs between infant asphyxiation and SIDS. There are preventative measures that the AAP has found greatly reduce the risk of SIDS. Parents should be aware that for reasons unknown, twice as ma

Baby's Sleeping Habits
2007-03-13 16:14:00
An infant's first few months are dominated by sleep. Learn the ways that your baby can get the most out of her 15 hours a day, and ways to get her to (miraculously!) sleep through the night. The first few weeks of a baby's life is dominated by sleep - between 17 and 18 hours a day, decreasing to 15 hours around three months. Sleeping intervals are far shorter in infants than in adults, and most babies only sleep one to four hours at a time. Bottle-fed babies are known to eat fewer times during the day than breast-fed, making some mothers believe that bottle-fed babies will sleep longer - which is irrelevant since each child has different needs. You should be prepared for baby to sleep no less than one hour and no more than four in between each feeding - all day, all night, 24 hours a day for the first few weeks. After six or eight weeks, you and your child will have established a feeding-and-sleeping routine. This is the time when some babies begin sleeping all night - but don't count

Time Management for Single Moms
2007-03-14 16:02:00
Single parenting is definitely not synonymous with the "simple" life. It can get so busy and complicated, in fact, that many parents give up trying to exceed the minimum requirements for day-to-day survival. "Why am I always so tired and run-down?" you might ask as you wearily fold the last load of laundry at midnight. It is precious time that you never seem to have enough of. Maybe you’ve often entertained the thought of quitting your job and finding something part-time, but you know the money wouldn’t be enough. Or you’ve considered not going to church on Sundays or saying "no" to little league soccer, but those are activities your family enjoys. What then? How can you find more time and simplify your complicated life?In a recent Prevention magazine article, a new mother of quintuplets was asked how she found enough time in the day to get everything done. She said she was forced to evaluate activities in her daily routine and cut out those that were not absolutely necessary. "L

Eat Your Vegtables!
2007-03-19 16:38:00
Providing your preschooler with a well-balanced meal is hard enough when money is tight, schedules are full and every other commercial is selling some type of junk food. But getting your children to eat vegetables, to provide their growing bodies with much-needed vitamins and minerals, is a problem that generations of parents have faced. Here are a few ideas to help you and your child break the pattern of pushing vegetables to the side of the plate.Let your child choose the vegetables. Obviously children cannot live on canned corn alone, but letting your child choose three or four vegetables may allow him to feel in control of what he eats. Even a small child knows what tastes he likes and enjoys having choices. Buy small amounts of a large variety until some favorites come to light.Allow your child to help prepare the vegetables. Children take great pride in their accomplishments and most will at least sample their culinary creations. Most preschoolers can help wash their favorite veg
