Works For Me Wednesday: The Chore Basket
2008-03-25 23:26:59
We've been working on creating new, good habits around here to go with our new home. So far, pretty good. One thing I decided on is an oldie-but-goodie tip that you'll see in a lot of places, but it never hurts to repeat - because someone, somewhere, surely has not heard of the goodness of The Chore Basket (Or jar. Or box. Or, you know - whatever.) I came up with 6 chores that I want the kids to

Frugal Friday: Saving on movie rentals
2008-03-27 22:58:14
It's awful that there is so little on TV that's fit to watch these days, isn't it? Especially if you don't splurge on cable/satellite TV - the networks are just filled with filth. We had that problem solved for us when we moved last fall; our new home is between major cities, so it doesn't get decent reception on ANY channel! So we only watch movie s now. I don't want to spend consistent money on

I realized last night that, with all the pages I've included here, I have yet to put in the blank pages that match the rest of my work! Sometimes, you just need a plain paper. Maybe you're continuing a topic onto a second page and don't want to waste the ink and the space of printing a second copy of the themed page. Maybe you just want plain paper because you don't have a notebooking page

Notebooking Page: Honey Bees
2008-03-30 15:35:21
I saw my first spring bees this past weekend. Bees always make me smile because they make me think of my grandfather. He raised bees for several years and gave and sold his honey. Oh, it was SO delicious! One of my favorite things was to chew on fresh honeycomb - suck all the honey out and then chew the wax like gum afterwards. It was sooooo good. Today's page features a keeper's hive as well

WFMW: Bathroom Organization
2008-04-01 22:18:31
It's Works For Me Wednesday again! (Well, it will be soon.) Shannon has asked us to pull out our best old post and repost it. I don't have many at this site, so I'll pull one off an old blog and share it. When we moved last fall, we lost having a medicine cabinet in the bathroom, as well as a built-in toothbrush holder. So this is what I came up with to fix the problem: During one of my trips

Notebooking Page: Endangered Animals: The Bactrian Camel
2008-04-01 08:29:24
Did you know that the stereotypical two-hump camel is on the endangered list? There almost 1.5 million of them that are domesticated, but only 950 are left in the wild - so they're on the "critically endangered" list. I decided to start a series on endangered animals of the world, and here is the first one. The primary papers are standard writing pages, but the side-rule page includes a section

Card Pockets for lapbooking,notebooking, etc.
2008-04-04 16:21:07
We're delving into history around here, and I want a way to keep up with events of history that don't include a bulky or boring timeline. I thought I'd design some card pockets that can be used in a lapbook or notebook, with one era per book. So we're starting with the dawn of civilization, we'll have a lapbook titled "Dawn of Civiliation" or perhaps "4th Century B.C." - I haven't totally

So here is an easy printable that can be included in your student's work. It starts out as a large square and can be folded down into either a diamond or a small rectangle, depending on your preference. **Foldable

Frugal Friday: Homemade "Hot Pockets"
2008-04-03 23:07:25
Since we homeschool, I try to keep the kids from getting the "not again" blues at lunch *too* often, although it's hard, especially when you're trying to be frugal. I hit a home run today - well, maybe just a triple! A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across a fabulous deal - the local Walmart was selling packs of Land O Frost deli lunchmeat for only 50 cents. For 12 ounces! That was a deal I
