Newman hit with 25-point penalty 2008-04-08 15:04:13 NASCAR has issued penalties and fines to the No. 12 team that competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rule infractions found last Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. The No. 12 car driven by Ryan Newman was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock-car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 12.8.1C (right-rear quarter panel height did not meet the required specification; too high in post-race inspection) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book.As a result, Newman and car owner Roger Penske have been penalized 25 championship driver and 25 championship owner point
s, respectively. Crew chief Roy McCauley has been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31."We had an issue in post-
Samsung 500 at TMS 2008-04-06 22:35:51 Basically it's the same story as the Nationwide race except that Kyle Busch didn't win the race, thankfully. A bunch of us took my mother in law out to dinner for her birthday, so I didn't watch the entire race. And to be honest, I really didn't care about the race because I am so thankful that my mother in law is alive and on her way to complete recovery from her brain aneurysm.Three things I'd like to say:1. I'm really sorry for all the Jeff Gordon fans out there. Believe me I do know what you are going through. Dale Jr. went through that many times last year and the year before that and...oh never mind you get my point.2. Speaking about Junior, he didn't have the most spectacular car today either. Loose...Loose...Loose! He finished in 12Th place a lap down. Thankfully, he didn't lose hi Read more:Samsung

will start from the top spot for Sunday's Samsung 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas after touring the 1.5-mile track in 28.286 seconds (190.907 mph), a lap that second-place qualifier Carl Edwards described as "screaming fast.""That's a good lap, obviously," said Earnhardt, who claimed his first pole of the season and the eighth of his career. "They just build fast cars, man. It's a lot of fun. I'm surprised we were able to do as good as we did when we were racing against 'em."In other qualifying news, Michael McDowell had a frightening crash that just took your breath away. Click here to view the crash. I can't believe he wasn't seriously injured. Wow, that was truly unbelievable.
O'Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway 2008-04-05 22:31:29 I would love to tell you that it was an exciting race filled with tons of drama, but that would be a bag full of lies.Truth be told, I was running errands and when I finally returned home and sat down to watch the remainder of the race, I fell asleep.Yaaaaawn. Kyle Busch won. Yawn.

McDowell is ok after his horrific crash 2008-04-05 11:32:38 "I came off of (Turn 4) on that first lap and felt a little bit off, that something wasn't quite right," McDowell said. "I went down into one and I don't know if it was the oil dry or if something happened. I hate to make that much work for the guys back at the shop. Fortunately, I'm OK, thank God. I got to see that replay and it wasn't good, but for everyone back at the shop that spends time putting these seats in and making these cars safe — that's one of the worst wrecks I've seen in a while. I'm not excited that I had to participate in it. We'll pull the back-up out and we'll get in race trim tomorrow and be fine."I feel great. Nothing broke. I didn't pass out. I didn't lose anything out there. I just wish I didn't overcorrect there. We'll have to go back and look at it. I don't know Read more:crash

General Mills to sponsor fourth RCR car in 2009 2008-04-01 14:59:30 Richard Childress Racing will field a fourth
Sprint Cup car next season backed by GeneralMills
, a move that leaves Petty Enterprises searching for a new primary sponsor for its flagship No. 43 car.RCR will unveil the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet for the 2009 season, with a driver to be announced at a later date. The newcomer will join stablemates Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer, all of whom won races and qualified for NASCAR's Chase last year. Read the entire story here.
My new puter, Martinsville and more. 2008-03-31 17:13:59 I tell you what, I sure do like Martinsville
better than Bristol. I am hoping that the empty seats that I saw on Sunday were weather related and not a slow down on NASCAR's popularity. I believe this year's chase is going to be one of the best ones we've seen.I am thrilled with Dale Jr.'s consistency, but I would have loved to see him win the race. Junior led a total of 146 laps, but towards the end Dale's car was pooped from being over driven."I should have been more patient," Earnhardt Jr. said. "But I just burned it up so we didn't get the finish we could have or needed to have. We got a good finish."Dale Jr. hasn't won a points race in almost two years, so he's well overdue for a win. Michael McDowell's debut didn't go over to well with other drivers, especially with Jeff Burton."We co
Jack quit your crying! 2008-03-29 15:17:23 Jack Roush is ridiculous! He's whining over a sway bar? Give me a break. The comments made by Michael Waltrip and Jeff Gordon made my day.Waltrip said if anyone had any more questions to go ask Jeff Gordon, the Hendrick Motorsports driver who contends the incident, now referred to as "Partgate," has been blown out of proportion."Our spokesperson on this subject is Jeff Gordon, so if y'all have anything to ask go ask Jeff. I don't think I could've said it near as well as he did," Waltrip said.Gordon said, "I think we should investigate more. I think we should get the FBI involved."::snort::In my opinion, Jack is a grumpy ol' man.

How To Drive In New Jersey 2008-03-26 22:50:51 It's not THIS bad, but it's close! LOL!!1. You must first learn to pronounce Newark. It is New-erk, not New-ark. (Actually, it's pronounced 'NORK'.)2. The morning rush hour is from 5:00 a.m. to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 7:00 p.m. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning.3. The minimum acceptable speed on the turnpike is 85 mph. On the Garden State Parkway it's 105 or 110. Anything less is considered 'Wussy.'4. Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Jersey
has its own version of traffic rules. For example, cars/trucks with the loudest muffler go first at a four-way stop; the trucks with the biggest tires go second. However, in Monmouth County, SUV-driving, cell phone-talking moms ALWAYS have the right of way.5. If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will Read more:New Jersey
Get your orders in now 2008-03-25 22:11:57 What the heck am I talking about you say? I'm talking about diecast orders
for Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #88 Mountain Dew Retro car that will race at Darlington in May. This is a special one time only NASCAR Sprint Cup Hendrick Motorsports #88 paint scheme. The photo of the paint scheme is below. Happy ordering!
Patiently waiting 2008-03-24 22:27:12 After six or so years, I finally ordered a new computer. I built my own dell computer ( of course with Dell's help) and it should be here sometime late March or the very beginning of April. And I also ordered a brand new printer/scanner because the printer I have now is at least ten years old and although it's a very good color printer, it's extremely slow.Hubby was not particularly thrilled that I purchased a new computer, but I told him a happy wife means a happy husband. He whines about me spending any kind of money on myself, but he eventually gets over it. I mean I waited over six years to get a computer for pete's sake!I also went shopping over at JRMotorsports and purchased a couple of things including a Dale Earnhardt Jr. mouse pad for my new mouse which will be arriving soon with
DJ is going to race the truck 2008-03-22 15:44:49 Dale is going to "race" the truck! After Jarrett is introduced prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, he will step into the UPS race truck from the UPS ad campaign and take one lucky fan for a ride around the 1.5-mile superspeedway. There isn't a way to contact the site owner and I've had enough of this. The site in question is www.anotherdayruined.com. If anyone knows how I can contact the blog author I'd appreciate it.Well, I'm going to take a short break from blogging to celebrate Easter as I am sure a lot of you are going to be doing the same. A "Rip" Roaring Good Time 2008-03-19 23:38:56 From the Sirius site:Operation Wax Smoke was a huge success, raising over $125,000 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. DeLana & Kevin Harvick, and national motorsports correspondent Ford Martin joined Tony and Matt Yocum at an "undisclosed location" for a rip-roaring good time. There was no shortage of donations to hear Tony suffer throught the pain and indignity of having his famously-furry back waxed live on the air. It remains to be seen if the procedure will improve race times for the sleeker and more-aero Smoke. Click here to listen to the clips of Tony Stewart's show. Make sure you listen to the play by play of Stewart's back waxing!!!
Blah. Yep that pretty much says it all. 2008-03-18 23:02:30 I haven't been writing much about the races lately and I'm not too happy about that. I haven't been feeling well (they think I have Fibromyalgia) and frankly, it seems that all my favorite bloggers have summed up my feelings pretty damn well. I mean I could take Jerry's blog entries or Cheyenne's and copy and paste them here with no editing to be done. I can't stand the bump stops, I am not overly thrilled with the tires, I can't stand the splitter and I really don't quite know how I feel about Toyota. I believe my dislike for Toyota is not stemming from the car maker but the Cup drivers behind the wheel of those Toyotas instead. It seems that Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart are the ones getting on my last nerve.I do agree with what Tony said about the tires, however it was how he said it that

Finally,” Patrick said. “It was a fuel strategy race, but my team called it perfectly for me. I knew I was on the same strategy as Helio and when I passed him for the lead, I couldn’t believe it. This is fabulous.”The 26-year-old Patrick won in her 50th career IndyCar start, taking the led from Castroneves on 198th lap in the 200-lap race. Read the rest of

Tony Stewart's next move? 2008-04-25 15:47:32 First of all, I think the rumor that Tony Stewart
may join up with John Menard to form a new team is a bunch of bull considering their history. Below are some options I thought about and let me know what you think.1. Tony goes to HMS. Mears out of the 5 car, Tony in the 5 car but without Home Depot as his sponsor.2. Tony goes to RCR as the fourth team mate.3. Tony goes with HAAS as not only a driver but a co-owner of the team.Number 3 has already been said by many, but what do you think about my other two options? Am I nuts or do you believe either one could possibly happen?
Talladega 2008-04-27 21:36:39 Currently holding my breath. Be back later if I don't pass out first. To be continued....Hey what a great race except for the final lap. I am telling you that race was exciting! It's just a shame Kyle Busch had to win the darn race under caution. It is also a shame that Junior wasn't a factor at the end, but it was not his fault.I really don't have anything to gripe about except for one little thing...well actually two. Kyle Busch winning and Jeff Gordon venting over the radio that he was not getting any help from Junior and that Junior left him high and dry. Excuse me? Wait a minute let me see if I get this right, Junior was upfront all day while you, stayed pretty much in the rear of the pack. And when you did finally start getting to the front, you expected Junior to put on the brakes Read more:Talladega
Stupid Driver Tricks 2008-04-26 16:21:13 Let's pull out in front of thirty or so Nationwide cars going more than 180 mph and see what happens. What the heck was Kevin thinking? What the heck was the spotter for the 61 car thinking? My guess would be that nobody was applying any kind of common sense whatsoever. I guess Kevin took a nap during the driver's meeting when they told drivers to keep their tires below the yellow line thru turn 1.And because of Kevin LePage's mind-blowing error, the day is ruined for sixteen drivers. Nice job buddy! Now if you would excuse me, I'm going to see if I can go pull out onto the NJ Turnpike without looking in my mirrors. I'm sure I'll return home unscathed. ::cough::

Ashley Force first female FC winner 2008-04-28 13:40:23 Ashley Force
etched her name into the annals of drag racing history when she defeated her father, John, in the final round at the 28th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals to become the first woman to win an NHRA Funny Car title. The final was somewhat anticlimactic when John, who was seeking his 1,000th career round-win, struck the tires immediately; Ashley would have been tough to beat as she sailed to a 4.837, the second quickest time of the day.

Dale Earnhardt Day 2008-04-29 09:11:43 My heart broke, right along with the rest of the racing world on that Sunday. I can still hear the words "We have lost Earnhardt
.htm">Dale Earnhardt
" ringing in my head like a bad dream. The Intimidator dead? That has to be wrong, but it wasn't wrong. What a tragic loss. I have been a dedicated fan of Dale's for as long as I can remember. I remember watching him when he drove the yellow and blue Wrangler car, I remember the battles between he and Rusty. I remember how happy he was when Dale Jr. won his first race in NASCAR and I will never forget the day he won the Daytona 500. Even though life has gone on without Dale Sr. in it, NASCAR will never be the same nor will I.Happy Birthday Dale, we miss you dearly.
SAFER barriers to be installed at LMS 2008-04-30 23:52:10 Lowe's Motor Speedway will have a SAFER barrier along the inside wall of its backstretch by the time the track opens for NASCAR racing next month. An additional 340 feet of the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction barriers are being installed, and track president Humpy Wheeler said Tuesday the project will be completed in time for the May 17th All-Star Race. The track has had a SAFER barrier on part of the inside backstretch wall coming out of Turn 2, but none heading into Turn 3.Good idea, but long overdue I think. Better late than never I guess.
