Corrie's Alex Neeson look-a-like
2008-03-10 17:23:00
Were Corie's Alex Neeson, and Richard Ashcroft of The Verve swapped at birth or was it Ryan Connor and another lead singer from a band? I'm confused now. There are more Coronation Street look-a-likes here.

Coronation Street Weekly Update, March 10 2008
2008-03-10 16:15:00
Greetings and welcome to another weekly update. This week the update comes sneezing and wheezing with a bad cold, a hot toddy and a Lemsip. Atishoo. And so without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update while listening to the new Duffy CD.One of the pitfalls of having the builders in is having the builders in. And the builders are in on Coronation Street as the new Victoria Street development gets flung up off the cobbles to reach into the slate-grey Weatherfield sky. If the builders aren’t in the caff flirting with Becky and drinking strong tea with five sugars in then they’re whistling and singing at all hours of the morning and really, just really, getting on Leanne’s nerves. So much so that she yells at one of them as she passes him on the cobbles

Corrie's first wild child
2008-03-10 11:28:00
Jennifer Moss played Corrie 's first wild child teenager Lucille Hewitt back in the 1960 and 70s. As well as being an actress, she recorded a couple of pop hits which have been re-released on a compilation CD called Joe Meeks' Girls. Corrie fan Theo Morgan has kindly uploaded some of Jennifer's songs for fans to listen to, for free. If you liked the Sunny Jim sing-a-long, you might just like these ones too. To listen to Jennifer singing Hobbies, click here and singing Big Boys, click here.Sadly, Jennifer Moss passed away in 2006. You can read all about her life right here.

Steven Arnold in Canada
2008-03-09 08:54:00
No prizes for guessing which Coronation Street character this young chap grew up to play. Yes, it's Steven Arnold , pictured here in 1989 when he was starting out on his TV acting career in Children's Ward on the BBC. We know him better now of course as Corrie butcher, Ashley Peacock.Steven was in Canada recently where he met over 700 Corrie fans. For a write up of the event with some great pics, have a look here.

Corrie's Ryan Connor look-a-like
2008-03-09 08:24:00
Michelle Connor might be having trouble on Coronation Street trying to decide between Alex and Ryan. However, I reckon Ryan Connor was separated at birth in Weatherfield General from his twin Ezra Koenig, lead singer with band Vampire Weekend. For more fun Corrie look-a-likes, have a look-a-here

FAQ: How far behind is the show in Canada?
2008-03-08 06:25:00
One of the frequently asked questions that's coming through at the minute is how far behind the episodes being show in Canada are.I asked my Canadian Corrie counterpart and she's advised that Canada is approx. nine months behind the episodes shown in the UK. However, this will slip again by another couple of weeks when CBC starts to show the Summer Olympics. For the answers to more Frequently Asked Questions, have a look here.

Let's hear it for Luigi
2008-03-08 05:24:00
One of the minor characters I'm loving at the minute is Leanne's stroppy head waiter, Luigi , who works at the pizza place in the precinct. (I know it's called Valandro's but I always want to call it Voldermort's for some reason).Anyway, Chris Hannon who plays Luigi is doing a great job as the stroppy waiter who serves up sarcasm with the wine list. More Luigi pleasey. Watch him in action right here in a deleted scene from Coronation Street.

Unseen Corrie footage now online
2008-03-08 05:19:00
The official Coronation Street site has started to include deleted scenes, which this fan reckons is a great idea. You can watch - but only if you're in the UK - the latest deleted scene where Leanne gets grief from the wonderfully stroppy head waiter Luigi at her pizza place in the precinct. To watch the deleted scenes click here.

So you think you know Coronation Street?
2008-03-07 07:13:00
There's a quiz called So You Think You Know Coronation Street ? It's fairly easy to start with but does become more difficult as you progress. You also have to register with the site to get higher than level 1 and take part in some marketing gumpf. But fans can submit questions to the quiz too, which is a really nice idea. They also have a generic So You Think You Know Soaps quiz too. Mind you, neither are as good as Tvor's Tuesday Trivia quizzes.

Should there be a Coronation Street Webcam?
2008-03-07 04:19:00
As the Coronation Street set looks unlikely to reopen to the public, there is another way for fans to see onto the Street. Or at least, there could be, if Coronation Street followed in the steps of the other two major UK soaps and installed a webcam. How brill would that be? Eastenders has one here and Emmerdale has one too.

Corrie's Yana Lumb is a fan of this blog
2008-03-07 03:39:00
I'm chuffed to bits to report that Jayne Bickerton, who played the wonderful Yana Lumb on Coronation Street, is a fan of this blog. How do I know? It says so on her Pop Art website right here. She says the blog is: "My new favourite Corrie gossip and update site, presided over by the wonderful Flamin' Nora".Jayne is also a successful artist and you can view all her paintings on her website, including many Pop Art paintings of Coronation Street scenes and classic characters.Fans can now see Jayne on tour in theatre in The Naked Truth alongside another ex-Corrie actress Samantha Seager, who played Jodie Morton. The Naked Truth is on tour at a theatre near you from March 24 to June 5. For tickets book here.

Gail Platt, phone home
2008-03-06 13:25:00
The official Corrie site had a very odd pic of Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, on it today. When I saw the picture, I didn't think Gail Platt. I didn't even think Coronation Street. I'm ashamed to say it, ladies and gentlemen, but the awful picture made me think of something else entirely. And she's lovely, is Helen Worth. I've met her in real life and she's a very attractive lady but this picture does her no favours at all, poor woman!

Blanche Hunt rocks
2008-03-06 02:34:00
Am I the only one who's ever wondered what's on the badges that Sean Tully wears pinned to his lapels on Coronation Street? And could this be one of them...?!If you'd like a Blanche badge, you can get one right here.

Radio lives of Coronation Street favourites
2008-03-05 12:44:00
With thanks to our friends at The Soap Show, you might like to listen to this BBC radio podcast of some Coronation Street favourite actors talking about their lives before Corrie when they were radio stars.Radio Roots takes four actors, including Violet Carson (Ena Sharples) and Bill Waddington (Percy Sugden), and plays clips of their early radio appearances. It's well worth a listen to and it's right here.

Coronation Street Weekly Update, March 3 2008
2008-03-04 14:29:00
Greetings and welcome to another weekly update. The update's a little late this week as I've been away on me spring jollies. And so, without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update. This was the week when Jamie and Violet did a runner with the lickle baby, leaving their flat empty and Sean in tears. Violet even chucked her mobile phone out of the car window on the motorway when Sean wouldn’t stop calling her to find out why they’d cut and run. Poor Sean, I really felt for him this week and tears sprung to my eyes when Sean broke down in the flat and in tears at losing his son. I never thought I’d say this, but for once, voting for Antony Cotton as Best Actor in the British Soap Awards could be justified as he really pulled a blinder. Marcus does his bes

Is Darryl Morton the new Curly-Kirky?
2008-03-04 13:32:00
He's turning out to be as quirky as Kirky and as lovelable as Curly . Could Darryl Morton be the new Curly-Kirky of Coronation Street?

What does it take to be a Corrie woman?
2008-03-15 12:33:00
Essential: Big hair and even bigger ear-rings. The bigger and brassier of both, the better.Must like a drop, or two, to drink. Be prepared to blurt out indiscretions while under the influence of one too many and/or cop off with unsuitable blokes.Got to have a best mate to swap secrets - and blokes - with. From Elsie Tanner to Carla Connor, Corrie women have always had bags of of attitude. It's just that in Carla Connor's case, the bags are designer this time around. And of course, no Coronation Street woman would be complete without their very own feckless fella. And tear-proof mascara. Any more suggestions?

Hilda's ducks a-go-go
2008-03-15 12:25:00
If you need something a bit Corrie to liven up your living room, then you can't go wrong with some retro Hilda's ducks.Flying duck coat hooks here and a whole flock of 'em here.

The wonderful Amber
2008-03-15 12:15:00
Young Amber is one of Corrie's unsung heroes and a character to keep an eye on. She knows exactly which buttons to press on dad Dev. Dad and daughter could be a team worth watching on Coronation Street although Dev needs a story and more to do than some extravagent dusting. More Amber please, she's great.

Gail Platt's stunt woman
2008-03-15 12:06:00
When Gail Platt took a tumble down the stairs on Coronation Street, it was stunt woman Abbi Collins who took her place. Abbi has done other soap stunts too, doubling for actors in 'Stenders and Emmerdale. There's more on stunt woman Abbi Collins right here.As the wonderful Lady Nancy of the Banks-Smith points out her in review of the episode, it was an Abigail who took the tumble for a Gail.

Gail Platt's hair-do horrors
2008-03-15 11:39:00
With a hairdresser for her mother, you'd think that Gail Platt's hair would have looked better than it has done since she first turned up in Coronation Street in 1974.Mind you, at least she never went for a Deirdre perm.
