"1 - 0 to Blu-Ray" with the Introduction of the Sharp Aquos BD-HP1
2007-02-15 22:55:19
It looks like Blu-Ray is in poll position and heading straight for the winning line with the launch of Sharp’s Aquos BD-HP1 recorder. Under its sexy bonnet, it will take down approximately two hours of 1080p video at 24Mbps. Also the recorder comes fully equipped with an HDMi cable, supporting 7.1 surround and firewire. However, the most important thing other than the techie bits, is this sleek movie busting machine will give you a ‘to die for’ home cinema experience you've always wanted, making you the envy of all your pals. It’s due to be launched in Japan in March, but with the pricing expected to be about £650, I certainly will be hoping that it is a similar price when it hits our lovely British Isles, so I can grab one for my living room! You then have to go on a frantic mission to your local petrol station to get some replacements. Well, there is a possible new ‘greener’ way to get around this problem by investing in some Moixa USBCELLs. These are simple AA batteries that recharge from a USB port and could make separate recharging devices or cables for your gadgets a thing of the past. Could this be the killer blow to the battery market that memory sticks did to floppy discs? Review All I can say is that when I saw the Moixa USBCELL for the first time I gave it top marks for its clever and innovative design. Shaped like a standard AA battery, I simply had to flip the top of it, to reveal a USB connector and plugged it into an open port. With USB ports appearing on every PC, laptop

Are we on the verge of a console price war? PS2 for £49
2007-02-22 22:45:49
Today Asda started selling the worlds most popular gaming console the Playstation2 for a bargain £49. The slimline console went on sale this morning and has been flying off the shelves as it more than half price to most of its competitors. What was even more exciting was Play.com reduced the price of the Xbox 360 Core system to £150 last night. Considering that this is a next generation console, what a bargain. Hopefully Asda will push the retailers into a full scale war and all of us can bag up the goodies. Tags: xbox 360, xbox, ps3, ps2, consoles

2007-02-26 18:42:26
Although Blu-ray was launched a month earlier, the rival format HD DVD has outsold it by 4 to 1 according to the official charts company. Speculation suggests that this is due to the support for HD DVD on the games console Xbox 360 with its optical drive. Blu-ray which was launched in October managed to sell a total 1,834 discs by the end of 2006 while HD DVD launched in November managed to sell a whopping 8,200 discs. It should be interesting to see if sales of Blu-ray pick up with the release of the Playstation3 on March 23rd with prices starting at £425. Source: hdtvorg.co.uk Tags: HD DVD, Blu-ray, format war

Toshiba’s New LCD TV Range
2007-04-03 21:59:01
Watch out for four new ranges Toshiba are due to release this year which means that there could be something for everyone. The Z series is the one that is tickling my fancy the most at the moment, offering full 1080p, 3 HDMI inputs and picture processing which is twice the rate of your average HD panel, I will sure to be adding this to be my techie wish list. Other ranges include the Picture Box X and the X series offering amazing pictures and the last one on their list is the 42 inch C series for all the not so techie freaks out there. We’ll have to wait until the reviews to see whether they meet up to our expectations but until then all I can say is “Choice Galore”! How much would you pay for a PS3?
2007-04-14 20:04:01
Well many of you may think that I dislike the PS3 but I have to get this straight, I think it’s a fabulous gadget and the best value for money Blu-ray player available. However like most people out there I haven’t been impressed by Europe getting the short end of the stick. Basically paying a higher price for less. Now though it seems that things have settled down and prices have been slashed with PlayStation 3’s going for £350 on Ebay.co.uk* and £400 on most high street and online stores. Many people out there I know were also waiting for the cheaper 20GB version to be released and others hoping that Sony would release it without Blu-ray. So if you were one of these then you may be disappointed to hear that the 20GB US version has been discontinued which means it won’t be crossing the Atlantic either and lets be honest for Sony to release the PS3 without Blu-ray is just wishful thinking. So I’ve compiled a list of retailers in the hope of making it easy t
