Silver Cocktail dress: I like it.
2008-03-06 13:24:00
Here's a snapshot of some good classic line dress ed. They are in silver, which can be a loud color, but with the clean neckline and natural tone leg, it's perfect. One might feel the need to over dress this with accessories. Don't. The shine of the dress is an accessory itself. On Jada Pinket Smith is the silver dress with a good length for a woman. I don't like the shoes on Jada with the leopard print. I would stick with a matching shoe.On singer Rihanna, she went with a spunky strapless version.I like the simple necklace w/ no long or shiny earrings and matching shoe. This dress should only be worn at night.

Wear clothing suited to the occasion- Day wear
2008-02-27 21:06:00
I am going to tackle this rule of etiquette head on.I specifically talk about this in my book, She So Ghetto. We'll start with the letter "D".D stands for "Daywear."I am very specific about what to wear during the day vs. the night. And, so I won't bore you, I will have visual aids. With Day wear, you NEVER:Wear a skirt or dress above over one inch above the knee.Wear a Mini skirt or shorts.Wear jeans with sneakers*.Never wear sultry clothing to school, work, office.Never wear stripper or hooker looking clothing.Almost never wear stilettos.Don't take the focus of the day and place it on you. You want to look nice, but you don't want draw every lustful look from the guys because you are dressed for the bedroom. Here are three important reminders:The lighter it is outside, the longer the skirt/

Do we need manners?
2008-02-27 20:16:00
Do we need manners? In raising children, each generation re-evaluates what they were taught. Some items are retained, others are cast aside as "something from the past" needing modernization. One such area deserving closer scrutiny is manners. Unfortunately, some baby boomer-era parents have cast manners aside. Those parents often later regret having taken such actions. In looking at manners, there are two types to consider. There are external manners, otherwise known as "etiquette" and internal manners which deal with respecting other people. Children can be readily taught etiquette. Many of the rules we learned at home, in pre-school and church deal with forms of etiquette. Practicing etiquette does not guarantee success in the world, yet it does make the one's pathway through life
