Exitement is not Happiness
2008-03-09 23:59:57
I got so exited about our new kitchen project as we were discussing the layout. The place is going to look fantastic and I pictured myself sitting at the island for breakfast looking out to the porch and the water, feeling just grand. I had an idea about additional cabinetry and spoke so fast that [...]

Cause of Boredom
2008-03-08 14:00:20
This is the best written description for the cause of boredom I have ever come across. From the book The Heart of the Soul by G. Zukav. “Boredom is the failure to find an activity or circumstance interesting enough to divert your awareness from what you are feeling.”

I don’t feel safe
2008-03-07 13:18:54
To stay present while working on the computer (on my websites) is one of the bigger challenges. I do the editing with an urgency as if my life depended on it. I am tensed all over, thinking that I just want to get this done. I would say that I am not lost in [...]

A Process of Remembering
2008-03-06 17:04:26
I am aware. I feel the sensations in my body and I make mental notes of everything else that I am aware of, thinking, hearing, imagining…Practicing Awareness is a process of awakening, to passionately pull myself out of the mental realm over and over again and to bring the attention to what I can [...]

Living with Chronic Pain, not one more day in time
2008-03-06 12:24:17
It’s hard to admit that every day for the last ten years I have been living with persistent (chronic) abdominal tensions, and I feel embarrassed about it (because I should know better…, more about that on About page). I have come to see it as an obstacle to overcome, as something to defeat. Now [...]

I have to get this done
2008-03-05 15:02:23
One very obsessive thought that I have become aware of is I have to get this done. Today it is the taxes (well yesterday it was the taxes too…) and when I shift to the actual experience I can feel the energy of this thought, an urge inside to take action and a sense of [...]

Why practice awareness, not affirmations (and quadruple my income in 30 days)?
2008-03-12 23:11:28
I spend some time on one of these sites that can tell you the secret on how to create abundance from literally nothing in literally no time. Well, in 30 days this one said, which is pretty good in my opinion considering that my income would be whatever I wanted it to be. I [...]

A healed Mind does not plan
2008-03-11 00:46:30
Today’s meditation practice was a long one. I got so lost in thoughts during some house duties that I took out a couple of hours. I settled on the couch and focused on the energy around my abdomen. I noticed some tightness that immediately turned into a dense mass with burning sensations when a relentless [...]

Practice Awareness or Abundance Affirmation (and quadruple my income in 30 days)?
2008-03-12 23:11:28
I spend some time on one of these sites that can tell you the secret on how to create abundance from literally nothing in literally no time. Well, in 30 days this one said, which is pretty good in my opinion considering that my income would be whatever I wanted it to be. I clicked on this particular site because it told me not to visit another "all-hype, no result" website on wealth building and making money until I've downloaded their free reports. And the big secret was: Daily Practice of a Positive Affirmation.

Was Buddha bankrolled by his parents while sitting under that Tree?
2008-03-17 15:02:29
Buddha came from a rich family and I am sure that he was bankrolled while sitting under that tree. Well, I am bankrolled too (by my husband) assuming that Buddha aka Gautama Siddharta was living off his parents. Only that I choose to feel guilty about it because we could use some extra money. But [...]

The Distress of Slowing Down
2008-03-21 15:53:28
Try This: Every time you have the intention to move your body to a different location, do it slower than usual (feeling your energy while doing it). It will drive your mind nuts. To do everything slower is part of the practice during meditation retreats (at least the ones I have been to) and I [...]

Where are You when Walking to the Bathroom?
2008-03-20 11:36:35
Everybody walks around their house, I am no exception. Up the old wood staircase to the second floor and back down, over to the living room and at least ten times from here, the kitchen, where I sit now at my computer station, to the bathroom. And instead of letting my mind wander in [...]

My View: Spitzer, “Why am I so Obsessed with Prostitution?”
2008-03-22 10:17:18
Spitzer was keeping his own issues from surfacing by trying to control them out there in the world. And whether we like it or not, he represents all of us. I have tried to control my husband by griping about his work place, making him press for less work load and more free time, and [...]

Underlined: Page 40 from Psychic Living by Andrei Ridgeway
2008-03-24 11:42:49
The only difference between a psychic vision and ordinary seeing is the depth to which you are looking. Just as you can aim a telescope at your neighbor’s window or the moon in the sky, you can train your eyes to perceive many levels of existence, from the aura around your cat, to the bright [...]

Trying to get to a Place of Relaxation
2008-03-26 21:44:10
All my life I have been trying to get to a place where I can relax. From near places such as the breakfast bar to destinations you find on the map such as the perfect seaside town to places called positions listed on resumes. The moment I open my eyes in the morning I think [...]

Vipassana Meditation Retreat: My life before and after, the one magic word that changed everything.

Now I understand the practice and before this retreat I only thought that I did. Does anybody learn a slowly as I do? Well, it’s not about looking back and comparing, figuring out what the hell I was doing twelve years ago during those long term retreats…, so I won’t. It’s about now. And now [...]

Wish you were here: A Moment of Craving and Disappointment
2008-04-11 12:39:16
Yesterday when the phone rang at five pm I was hoping it would be Pete calling, announcing that he was almost home. It was beautiful out and I wanted to go on a power walk together. It was him, but to let me know that he was going for a drink with some of the [...]
