Fudge=Happy
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Yesterday, our office manager sent us this simple and amazing email:"Marisa Shreve sent us a box of peanut butter fudge! No picture, no card, just FUDGE!"Are you serious!? Peanut Butter FUDGE! Let me tell you, it was pretty amazing. You could taste the love- except for Marty. Marty is incredibly allergic to Peanut Butter, and so even inhaling it is cause for alarm- and also, death. So when it comes to the fudge, Marty is a wet blanket, but the rest of us? Muy delicioso!Take that, scale! Britt stared longingly at the fudge, but is completely devoted to her diet and would NOT give into temptation. Me? Who am I to turn away a delectable gift? I had 24 pieces- but, they were little pieces! Marisa, your gesture is tremendously appreciated. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and that was an awesome present! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Ted was glad to be back in the good ol' US of A, and nothing says freedom like a mouthful of scrumdidlyumptuous peanut butter fudge! Sinc

Tied-Up!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
In my first blog post and first video confessional a few weeks ago I'd presented a "tie challenge," if you will. It was just brought to my attention that I'd never really offered-up a platform for folks to vote, if you're so inclined. As a recap, I like ties. Ties are fun. Ties need love. But several folks around the office kept inquiring as to why I was actually wearing ties -- you see, we're a relatively casual work environment so wearing a tie is a bit abnormal! I stand by my conviction though that ties are cool and want to be seen! So I said that in each of my confessionals I would present a tie and you--our viewers--could let me know whether or not you like it. (Keep in mind just 'cause you don't like a tie doesn't mean I'm going to get rid of it; however, if you know of a tie you think might look good on me then you're more than welcome to send it to me! Ha ha!)So if you want to play, simply leave a comment when I post a video confessional on our blog, and let me

In case you missed it, Ted covered some very good questions during today's townhall meeting. We want to make this more frequent, so keep on the lookout for the next TM date.Deb: If we are being banned, why can't we know why, so we can fix it?Ted Murphy: We are working on this. Advertisers do leave a note, we just need to add that to your displayKaroli: Why are Alexa rankings factored into segmentation?Ted Murphy: because advertisers need some sort of quantitative metric to segment bloggers and that is one of the publicly available stats we can gather. We would loveto have actual stats about each of your blogs but until that time we need to go with what we can get.Deb: What percentage of a blog's posting equals a category we can check off? Does it have to be a certain percentage, or the entire blog?Ted Murphy: You get three choices. We are going to be adding a general lifestyle category in the future, but please be away that the advertisers will need to select that.zog: Are you prom

Don't Get Segmented Out
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I know that there has been a lot of concern about segmentation from bloggers who don't quality for certain opps. In the spirit of better communication I want to give you all an advance notice that additional segmentation features are on the way. These segmentation features will be based on the data you provide us such as age range, sex and geography. Advertisers feel that these are important characteristics and we are going to give them the option to segment based on the data you provide in the future. What does that mean for our bloggers? It's quite simple really. You just need to go to your blogger dashboard and update your information. Once this segmentation goes live you will automatically be eligible for Opps with these requirements.

Get Segmented IN
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I think that my post yesterday may have set people off on the wrong track. The title itself approached the issue from the wrong perspective and I apologize for that. I should have said "Get Segmented In" because this is really about being eligible for the maximum amount of Opps possible. I have read through all of the comments on the previous post and want to clarify a few things:1. We will not be sharing the specific information you provide us with advertisers. They will not see your address, TAX ID or any other personal information. We are NOT identifying you individually or providing any way for an advertiser to contact you directly other than a link to your blog after you take a post which we have always provided.2. This information is optional. If you don't want to provide it that is fine, however you may miss out on opportunities that are high paying and perfect for you. The choice is yours.3. I am well aware (as are our advertisers) that your demographics and your audience demo

More on Segmentation
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I am going to do my best to answer peoples questions, though I recognize that I will never make all parties happy. Here goes:Beth:I don't think it is fair to say we are catering to "elite high profile bloggers". We have always had the ability for advertisers to make their opportunities available to all bloggers. Some of those advertisers have the mindset that they would like to have as many people blog about them as possible. The theory there is that you can engage a small army of bloggers with lower traffic blogs to get greater results than posting on a handful of blogs with higher levels of traffic.Other advertisers believe that getting exposure on one big blog is worth exposure on hundreds of smaller blogs. There is no right answer here. It depends on the product and the bloggers that pick it up. The PayPerPost marketplace provides the flexibility to create a campaign from either angle. You can see that from the Opps that PayPerPost creates that we believe there is value in both typ

How to increase your tack ratings
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I have spent a good deal of time this weekend going through posts made to PayPerPost opps and providing Tack ratings. I know that there has been a lot of discussion about Tacks and how to earn the maximum amount on any given Opp. The simple answer is to go above and beyond. When I personally look at an Opp I look at the quality of the writing and the time invested vs. what the offer was. Some of you do the bare minimum and meet the basic requirements of the Opp, which is just fine. I will give you 3 tacks for that type of effort.I can tell that others really take some serious time to think about things. You are the people I award 4 or 5 tacks. You include photos and screen shots when you don't even have to, you do your research and you relate it to your personal life. I love that!I am sure other advertisers have different qualities that they look for, but this is what I want. I want someone to really take interest in what they are writing about. I want them to write something that peo

Important Post to read for Posties
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Just as I was posting my previous post I received an email forwarded on to me from one of our advertisers that contained some feedback about the Posties who took his Opp. I wanted to share some excerpts with the Posties because I think it is important as it relates to why advertisers may want to segment some of their opportunities."I kind of expected them to (or hoped that they would…) visit my site and get a general feeling about it, and then write something thoughtful. Instead, many of the posts seemed to have been done in haste and with little style."Ouch. That's not something I want to hear, though I can relate. I have seen some posts that are lacking in style as well. Those Posties receive either 1 or 2 tacks and in some cases are banned depending on how weak the post is. Overall most Posties do a great job, but these Posties can ruin an advertisers experience."I will try again. This time I will require a higher rating from the Posties, and I will block many of those who resp

250 Posts in 24 hours
1970-01-01 00:59:59
I read an interesting article last week in which ReviewMe touted that they have completed nearly 750 reviews. I didn't appreciate just how fast we are growing and how vast our network is until I saw that number. In comparison to that 750 reviews total, it is not uncommon for a single Opportunity in PayPerPost to fill 200+ slots in a 24 hour period. The Posties are doing thousands of posts every single day, our ability to generate content absolutely dwarfs the competition.Along those lines... Advertisers often ask me how fast they can fill a given Opportunity. The answer really has to do with the description of the Opportunity, the offer made to the Postie and the segmentation they have chosen. Yesterday I launched an Opportunity in anticipation of a big PayPerPost announcement coming in the near future. I wanted as many people to blog about is as possible. It was a fun Opportunity, I asked Posties to speculate what the announcement might be and get creative. I offered $10.00, made it

Great Job Posties!
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Many of you took the opportunity for the movie The Ultimate Gift this weekend. In the spirit of sharing feedback I wanted to thank all of you for doing such a great job with this opportunity. The advertiser was really impressed with the posts as is very happy."I'll say it very simply, I'm the last person in the world you need to convince on how strong and immediate the results were through PPP. It was an absolute blast to watch how quickly and how powerfully the web was filled with positive messages through your bloggers. We will naturally launch many more opportunities in the next days and weeks and I can't wait.""Anyway, bottom line, our campaign for The Ultimate Gift has already had a lot of high points but none more exciting or rewarding than when you and Pay Per Post came into our mix. Beautiful stuff!"That's what I'm talkin' 'bout Willis! Great job Posties . Admittedly, the topic was really interesting and inspirational. This looks like it is going to be a great movie, defi

Advertisers :: Distribute Videos on PayPerPost
1970-01-01 00:59:59
A little known use of PayPerPost is the ability to distribute your existing videos through the marketplace. Do you have a video on YouTube, Google Video or another video sharing site? You can take that video and have the Posties distribute it for you on their blogs. It's a great way to build viewership of your video content. When creating your post simply point the Posties to your video in the body of the description. Ask them to embed a copy of the video along with the text post. It usually helps if the body of the post can be about the video. You can easily distribute your video to thousands of bloggers and their readers.

Banning Update
1970-01-01 00:59:59
We have received a number of suggestions, complaints and cries regarding banning and made a small change with today's release. When advertisers go to ban Posties they are now presented with more information regarding the ban so they understand the full implications and the negative impact on a Posties quality score. You can see the prompt below:The advertiser has always had to enter a reason for the ban. We are working on getting those comments displayed for the Posties in a near future release. Thank you all for your feedback in the townhall meeting, a lot of those comments drove this change.

David Berkowitz and the Golden Donkey
1970-01-01 00:59:59
Welcome Diggers! Digg it hereFor the past couple of months I have been listening to rants from the likes of Jason Calacanis, Jeff Jarvis and Michael Arrington. Those guys have been blabbing on about PayPerPost and our bloggers while at the same time collecting fat paychecks from the direct or indirect income their blog generates. Every time Calacanis makes another ludicrous statement about PayPerPost more people cover it, talk about it and make him more visible. It's brilliant really. For the most part I have shrugged off the personal attacks and rampant spreading of misinformation, but sometimes I feel a correction is required (see the confrontation with Jeff Jarvis below). In the back of my head I have a little trophy shelf. On it sits about 20 trophies, each in the shape of a small golden donkey. Every time I see someone going off on PayPerPost without the facts they get a nomination, and those who continue to rant may eventually win the prestigious Golden Donkey .Well, it's award s

Q: What is better than PostieCon?
1970-01-01 00:59:59
A: A Free Pass to PostieCon !!You know that I love to give things away to our loyal Posties and PostieCon will be no different. We are going to hook you guys up with all sorts of stuff... starting today. Every 50th person who registers and pays will get hooked up with a free pass to the event. We won't charge you a dime! We want as many Posties to come as possible, you might wind up with an extra $200 in your pocket to spend.I want to answer a few questions from the boards:1. Is the registration fee refundable? No, it is not refundable. We have a limited capacity and we can't afford to have people pull out given what we have committed to this event.2. How many people are we expecting? We are shooting for a minimum of 250 and we top out at 400.3. Can you transfer passes? If you need to transfer passes we will allow that, just don't scalp them outside the event : )There is another way to get a free pass... become a speaker! If you are a well known blogger or advertiser with some profes
