Another Spin 'n' Splash Card 2007-08-09 01:48:00 Todays offering is yet another card in my Spin 'n' Splash
arena. I really do love the varied effects that can be achieved. This one is more on a pastel blue theme. The base card is pastel blue with a slight texture and I have also used some metallic inks (silver & copper) on this one. The rest of the inks used are either Tria Pantone or Ranger Alcohol Inks in predominently blue. This one has a plate attached with the words 'Seeing Is Believing' and I really do think this effect needs to be seen to be believed !
A Taste of India 2007-08-08 01:46:00 This ATC was made using a base of dark purple cardstock and a printed vellum oval panel depicting an India
n deity. I adhered the panel and glazed the whole front surface with mat Mod Podge before applying some pink pearly doodles dimensional paint around the oval in small dots. Finally I edged the card with gold Krylon and a painted a design in each of two opposite corners with a gold brush pen.
Spin 'n' Splash Card 2007-08-06 02:41:00 Just discovered my little stash of spin 'n' splash backgrounds I did a while ago and thought I would make a quick card.I used a pale green textured card as the base and matted the predominently green & pink background square on plain green cardstock. This particular background was done with alcohol inks on white glossy cardstock. I then adhered the mat to the card front with double sided tape.I stamped 'Believe in your dreams...' on the same green cardstock, trimmed to size, then matted this with plain pink cardstock, edging both layers with black Stazon before applying to the card at an angle. Tranquil Card 2007-08-05 12:48:00 This card was done in response to a challenge to 'Use Your Stash' on UK Stampers Forum. I used a piece of base cardstock in plain cream weave finish and folded to make a card base. The stamp, which I bought from Third Coast stamps (Summer from 4 seasons tree set), had never been used and I have only just mounted it today on EZ Mount. I stamped in Versamark watermark ink on plain cream card and coloured with soft pastel (because I wanted the colours to be dreamy and muted). The pastels were applied with a small piece of cut 'n' dry foam in three blended colours. I edged the mat with sienna fluid chalk ink. This was then matted first on wedgwood blue mottled card (again edged with sienna fluid chalk ink) and finally on matching sienna paper, before applying to the front of the card with doub
Dragonfly Destination ATC 2007-08-04 06:12:00 Here's another ATC using Sizzix diecuts of dragonflies which have been spray coloured on card with iridescent inks in blue and pink and applied to the background with foam pads. The background is hand-wash coloured with a range of Twinkling H2O's and blue punched out mini fleur-de-lys have been adhered with glossy accents. The word stamp 'DESTINATION' is from Making Memories and was stamped in purple Stazon on gold card. Read more:Destination
Acetate ATC 2007-08-04 05:37:00 This is another ATC finished off this morning. I have stamped the background with blue Stazon using a harlequin stamp along with a womans face from Time plate by Nonsequitur. I have hand coloured the base with pearlescent watercolours and adhered this to a black piece of card cut to size. I have then stamped a tulip flourish stamp twice onto the reverse of a piece of acetate with purple Stazon and attached this as an overlay with 4 eyelets.
Image Transfer ATC's 2007-08-03 09:28:00 I have just completed another 3 ATC's using the packing tape image transfer method. I chose images from glossy magazines and transferred them onto clear adhesive packing tape by burnishing the tape thouroughly over the chosen image. I cut out the taped images and soaked in water for a few minutes then with my fingers 'rubbed' off the softened paper from the adhesive side of the tape until no more remained. I then allowed the images to dry and then adhered them (they were still adhesive) to the ATC card background. You may need to use a clear adhesive such as glossy accents if they don't retain their own adhesive qualities. I have then used various techniques to enhance the images with backing papers, permanent markers, gesso, pearly doodles and chalk inkpads. The words were all stamped wit Read more:Image
'Enchanted' ATC 2008-03-17 02:33:00 Finished this ATC last night. The background was attached to a rounded corner card blank and was prepared by applying and scraping various interference colours over a tan piece of cardstock. Colours are blue, purple and gold. A random effect was obtained by applying blobs of the paint and drawing a piece of rigid plastic across the surface. A border stamp with black stazon was stamped onto the same tan card and coloured with gold interference paint. This was cut out and applied on the right hand edge. The background was finished by stamping twice with a Rubber Stampede Arch Block (3633C) in versamark and applying pearl green and clear embossing powder before heat embossing. The central plate was made by spattering a piece of card with various inks and allowing to dry. This was stamped and Read more:Enchanted
Celtic Knot Card 2008-03-16 07:16:00 Well here we are half way through March and not a single post from me for so long. I did this card using a piece of mountboard as a mount and Lumiere paints as a background, overstamping with black stazon and highlighting with gold. The centre embellishment is a large black faceted jewel. The mountboard was matted on green, gold and glossy black before attaching to the card with double sided adhesive. The base card is pearlescent cream randomly stamped with a calligraphy stamp and black stazon. Read more:Celtic
DreamGirls ! 2008-03-19 01:56:00 This vintage card started life as a vintage photo which was printed onto glossy photopaper and subsequently cut out carefully. The base card was made from textured moss green cardstock which was covered with diagonal stripes of 3mm double sided tape and covered with black and gold ultra fine glitter. The photo was adhered with foam pads and the metal 'Dream' brad was used to attach a piece of German scrap. The two squares were made from mountboard which was stamped with Adirondack Ink through some sequin mesh before heat setting and heat embossing with clear embossing powder. The raw edges were coloured with black stazon and these were adhered to the card with double sided tape. I especially liked the muted colours of this card. Read more:DreamGirls
With Love Card 2008-03-18 01:49:00 This card was made using a brown square aperture card with an insert of paper made using the Starburst Stains wet scrunch background. This background produces a wonderful shimmery effect. A piece was cut to size and adhered with double sided tape to the inside of the aperture. a blue flower diecut embellishment was added to it with foam pads, along with another oblong embellishment and an embossed plate with the words 'With Love' in gold on cream pearlescent card.
Thinking of You Card 2008-03-22 05:29:00 Firstly a very Happy Easter to everyone out there !!!! I made the background square for this card using the lace glitter method and two colours of ultra-fine glitter. This was achieved by using double-sided clear adhesive sheet. A square was cut and one side of the protective cover removed. A piece of cotton lace was then adhered to the sheet and the first colour (midnight blue) of the glitter poured over the lace and rubbed well in with the finger. The excess glitter was tapped off and then the lace removed leavinf a pattern. The second colour of glitter was then applied (leaf green) and similarly rubbed well in with the finger before tapping off the excess. I then used a soft brush to remove loose glitter. The base card was lightly chalked with emerald decorating chalk and a leaf stenci
Forever Tag 2008-03-23 15:21:00 This tag was created from a plain manilla packing tag. The background was coloured with beige chalk ink which was stamped twice with a clock stamp, once with pink and once with turquoise pigment ink. The blue image was heat embossed with clear fine detail EP. A swirl border was stamped with versamark and heat embossed with fine detail gold EP. The eyes and word were stamped over the others with black stazon. The tag was finished with dark green ribbon. Read more:Forever
Aged Circle 2008-03-27 03:05:00 I was just experimenting with finishes and made this distressed circle. I used a Fiskars 'Heart' circle punch and punched out a 3 inch circle of ordinary copier paper. I then used Distress ink re-inkers in Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed applied to a teflon sheet and spritzed with water before swiping the circle across the colours and swirling it a bit. The circle was dried and then heat embossed with copper EP over a swirl stamp and versamark. The whole piece was then smeared with a generous layer of crackle glaze and allowed to dry. Once dry and cracked a darker colour of ink was applied to highlight the cracks and the excess wiped off with a paper towel. Think I will use it as a collage element on a new canvas I am working on. Decorated Glass Microscope Slides for Slide Mailers 2008-03-30 12:42:00 Well in keeping with my altered slide mailer theme here are 7 microscope slides I decorated in various ways to put into my altered slide mailers. In each case I have used a single slide backed with thin card cut to size, trapping various inclusions between the card and the slide. All have been sealed with metallic self-adhesive foil in Gold, Copper and Silver effects. The pictures are large to show details but the slides are only 3in x 1in in size. This one used a background cut from a glossy mag and included some blue/green Stewart Gill glitterati fibres. Sealed with copper foil tape and scratched carefully with a piercing tool to provide a hatching pattern on the foil. This one again was cut from a glossy mag but this time sealed with gold foil tape with a different pattern scratched into Read more:Glass

Number '8' Altered Slide Mailer 2008-03-29 10:17:00 Here is a double slide mailer, (4inches x 3inches) that I have altered. The slide mailer was covered with gold leaf on the outside and decorated on the inside. The front panel was made separately with board and distress inks with a central panel rubber stamped and heat embossed with marquesite EP. Three gold beads were added with glossy accents and two die cut flowers, painted first in copper acrylic paint with glitter glue added and wrapped with copper craft wire. The inside front was covered with printed paper (basic grey) and a roman sculpture image (Crafty Individuals) was added before sealing with mod podge matt. This was then overstamped with a swirl border stamp in black Stazon and the word 'Treasure' in black cherry Stazon. The other side was coloured with Adirondak raisin ink and Read more:Slide

'Distress' set of ATC's 2008-04-01 02:58:00 These 3 ATC's were made for a March challenge on UK Stampers ForumAll three feature heat embossing, stamping and painted backgrounds. I have used various acrylic paints, gesso, TH Distress embossing powders and making memories magnetic alphas to make up appropriate words stamped with black Stazon. Some decorative brads were also used to finish. I used sandpaper to scratch and wear parts of the ATC's.
Altered 'Pringles' Container 2008-04-11 10:59:00 Well I have been quiet for a while again. Actually have had little time to craft but now I have finished my first altered 'Pringles' container.I first prepared the contained by giving it two coats of white gesso, allowing to dry between coats.I used two rubber stamps, one of a rose and the other of a decorative heart and stamped both onto pink tissue with black and blazing red Stazon ink. Once dry I tore the tissue around the stamped images in a random fashion and then adhered this to the gessoed surface of the container with matt paper Mod Podge. I applied ModPodge to the container first and then adhered the tissue with another layer. Some of the layers overlapped producing a pleasing darker shade of pink from the tissue. Also there is some texture produced by not totally flattening the s Read more:Altered

Pink Tag 2008-04-12 12:42:00 Well, whilst I am on a pink theme here is a tag I made from ordinary peach cardstock and my Cricut machine. The cartridge I used was Tags, Bags, Boxes & More. Great for cutting tags at most sizes.........and so quick too !I used a flower stamp for the background with Versamark ink and coloured with Cosmic Shimmer Mica Glitter pigments which I applied with a soft brush then wiped away the excess. I then coated the tag with a layer of Lumiere acrylic paint in Hi-Lite Blue (iridescent). This is transparent so the flower images showed through the layer. Once dry I applied a random layer of Ranger Crackle paint in Worn Lipstick with the applicator brush. Whilst wet I shook on some purple glitter which adhered onto the wet paint. The crackle is very subtle because I only applied a very thin
Green Leaf Altered Slide Mailer 2008-04-14 12:17:00 Here is another altered double slide mailer I have completed.I gave the whole of the outside a coat of pale green acrylic paint and once dry gave the whole of the inside a coat of Lumiere metallic in Citrine. Once dry I stamped the front with an Intaglio stamp from Stewart Gill in Lime and Moss Green
Chalk Ink. Using a very small leaf stamp I used Versamark and metallic emerald green Embossing Powder which I melted with a heat tool. The inside front was embellished with two self adhesive dye cut 3D roses. The slide holder frames were stamped with another small flower stamp in Olive Green Stazon. All the edges of the slide holder were then finished in dark metallic green marker as a contrast. The slides were made from a single glass slide in each case which was stamped with leaf stamps and a Read more:Altered

'Perfect Recall' card 2008-04-13 12:17:00 Here is another card I have made in retro blue & green. I used a cream hammered card as the base and cut and scored to C6 size. I selected some suitable green/blue floral background paper (Basic Grey - Gypsy), edged with aquamarine chalk ink and applied as a mat leaving 1/4 inch of the base card showing. I then took some pale green cardstock and stamped with Versamark a random floral design which i then heat embossed using green embossing powder. This was cut to a mat, edged with the same chalk ink and applied to the centre of the card. Two tags were added (K & Co), again edged with chalk ink, and held in place with pale green floral brads. A making memories mag stamp was used to stamp with Versamark and heat emboss with gold EP the word 'mem.or.ies' on the same pale green card. Th Read more:Perfect
'Postcard' Altered Pringle Container 2008-04-17 02:37:00 This one is another altered pringles container but I have cut down the original tall tube to 4 inches. This height makes it more suitable for storing pens, pencils, paintbrushes etc. It is quite difficult to cut the tube perfectly square and I was not absolutely happy with the finish. I will try another method using a small hacksaw next time hoping for a more neater look. There are also smaller snack packs available which are slightly shorter than 4 inches but these would be ideal and would have a neat top finish to start with.I gave the container (after trimming to size), two coats of white gesso to cover up the original labelling. I then used various sprays to obtain a aged look. First a spray with Oak stain and then with Olive stain which I dried quickly with the heat gun. I finished o Read more:Postcard

Klimt Tree Card 2008-04-16 02:05:00 Here is card I made in Klimt style. I started with a cream hammer finish cardstock and made the card blank to C6 size. I then cut a panel from plain white cardstock and stamped the tree with a rubber stamp from Tanda Stamps in Versamark and heat embossed with Peanut Butter pearlised embossing powder from Joanna Sheen. I just love this particular stamp and using it inspires loads more possibilities. Next, using the embossed image as a resist I applied Adirondack Denim ink with a makeup sponge wedge leaving an uneven coating with lighter and darker patches. I wiped off the excess ink from the image with a paper tissue. This was matted twice onto metallic gold cardstock and then pale blue paper edged with blue ink. The panel was roughly placed onto the front of the card blank and a pencil was
'Tags' ATC's 2008-04-18 02:19:00 As another entry into a swap run by UK Stampers Forum , the challenge was to produce three ATC's featuring tags. These ATC's were made from Laser Plastic (which I have had for such a long time - not knowing what to do with it !). I cut the three from different colours of Laser Plastic and stamped the background with a Klimt swirl stamp from Tanda Stamps and black Stazon ink. These were then embellished with various K & Co mini tags all edged with chalk ink and attached with brads - some plain silver brads were coloured with Alcohol Ink to match the colour theme. The tags were also fixed in place with photoglue behind to stop the tags from moving. Pieces of ribbon were used also.I liked the effect because they are transparent, I wrote the atc details behind the tags with a fine permanen
Two Canvas Tags 2008-04-18 22:42:00 As part of a swap I have hosted on UK Stampers Forum , here are my entries for the 'Canvas
Tag Swap'. Each participant was sent two precut plain tags as a base and asked to decorate anyway they liked. The returned tags were randomly mixed and two tags were returned to each entrant. The tags were cut from a roll of gessoed canvas using a template made using my Cricut machine. The tags are 5.5 ins. x 3.5 ins. approx. My first tag used the base canvas tag and Inscribe permanent metallic acrylic paints in Peacock, Plum & Sapphire, randomly applied with a real sponge over the entire surface of the tag. When the desired effect had been achieved I heated the painted surface with a heat gun and some of the thicker wet painted areas bubbled as they dried. This gave a bit more texture to the base
Bird Card 2008-05-11 09:03:00 Inspired by some stamps I bought recently, dicky birds seem to have taken me by storm, just love the trend on birds at the moment. This card was made by stamping a solid rubber bird image with vintage sepia Versafine ink, masking and then overstamping with a text stamp in black onyx Versafine on plain copier paper. The images were trimmed to size and edged with green chalk ink. The words 'Song Bird' were rubber stamped over the bird with chalk ink in emerald green. This completed the panel. The tag was a clear green epoxy sticker which I stuck to a piece of gold mirri card which had been stamped with the word 'Soar' in black Stazon ink. The tag was trimmed around its edge, a hole punched with my cropodile and a short piece of dark brown organza ribbon tied through the hole. This completed th
Seedhead Birthday Card 2008-05-11 12:10:00 Now here is a simply but effective card. Take a plain lavender DL card and using a brayer apply a layer of eggplant Adirondack ink to the lower half of the card working towards you. Using the very edge of the brayer apply a thin stripe of bottle Adirondack at the top edge of the eggplant stripe. I used two clear Lavinia stamps of seedheads which were inked with black onyx Versafine ink. I highligh Read more:Birthday
Au Naturelle Card 2008-05-13 11:59:00 The natural colour scheme of this card is again simple but effective.Whilst on the subject of seedheads, here is another card made using the Lavinia companion stamp to the other two used on my last post. This time stamped on a piece of pearl paper with vintage sepia Versafine ink ( two impressions from one inking). The image was trimmed and matted first onto gold mirri card and then onto dark brow
Goddess ATC's 2008-05-17 11:47:00 These two ATC's were made using rubber stamps and Versafine onyx black which were stamped onto the white ATC blanks using masks. The stamps are all of unknown origin. I have used Inktense watercolour pencils and a waterbrush to hand colour them along with some gold applied by fine brush. The finished ATC's have been heat embossed with one coat of clear detail embossing powder to give more intensit Read more:Goddess
Triangular ATC 2008-05-18 14:55:00 Inspired by a crafters blog by Dan99 ........ thanks Dan for the inspiration !!! I made my first triangular ATC today.
