Triple Heat Embossed Tiles 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Just completed three Triple
Heat Embossed
tiles. I used 2in x 2in Stambord as a base and had fun doing them. The first is on an Oriental theme and I used the Kodomo 'Welcome Back' stamp to make the impression.I used clear UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) - Suze Weinberg as the base and sprinkled Stamp-n Stuff Marquisite, Gold, & Gunmetal Embossing Powder into it once melted to the desired effect. I inked the stamp with Colorbox Petalpoint Pigment Ink in Topaz before stamping. The second is a much brighter version and I used Ranger EP's in Lemon Yellow, Mint Green & Turquoise with a touch of Stamp-n Stuff Claret. I used a floral spray stamp and inked this time with Harbor Pigment Ink.Final version uses Stamp-n Stuff Marquisite EP and gold Pigment Ink on a Time Flies Stamp.Three very different effects - all very easy to do ! Bazzill Chip Brooch 1970-01-01 00:59:59 Inspired by a class by Kirsty, I have produced my first Bazzill Chip Brooch
. I used a paper by Joanna Sheen as the background and a stamp by the same person from the 'Victorian Flowers' unmounted sheet by Past Time Stamps. I stamped the flowers in black Stazon on ordinary copier paper and coloured in using metallic coloured pencils. Cut out the coloured image carefully and applied it with PVA glue to the backing paper which had previously been stuck to the chip. When dry I stamped a little Oriental flower stamp in Versamark several times and heat embossed with detail silver embossing powder. Coloured around the sides with light violet chalk ink and painted the back of the chip with lavender acrylic paint. Punched a hole with a crop-o-dile before sealing all over with Paper Mod-Podge. Then I decorated the base with a little silver charm of a fairy with bugle and some silver beads on silver wire. Finally applying a brooch pin to the back with superglue. Will certainly be making more in f
Even MORE 'Inchies' 2007-03-05 18:53:00 Inchies Inchies Everywhere !!!!My God, has a week really gone by? I have been busy though. One of the things I have produced are a set of 30 'Inchies' for a swap hosted by Clare on UK Scrappers Forum .Here is a pic of my work. I basically hand coloured a background on watercolour paper (previously spritzed with water), with Lyra Aquacolors and a water brush. Then overstamped in blue Stazon with 'All over floral' stamp by Rubber Stampede. Pics and words were in the 'EYES' theme cut out from various mags. I then edged all with Gold Krylon pen. Altered Mint Tin 2007-03-06 22:29:00 Again inspired by a class on UK Stampers Forum I used one of Marks & Spencers Curiously Strong Mint Tins as a base for this creation. I rubbed the tin down well with fine sandpaper and then coated with white gesso and allowed to dry. I then used colonial green acrylic paint (DecoArt) and applied with a natural sponge and allowed to dry. I then stippled with Adirondack dye inks in bottle and oregano and dried thoroughly with a heat gun. In the meantime I stamped some leaves from the See D's leaf set in black Stazon on white tissue paper and then hand coloured with Lyra Aquacolor crayons and a water brush (drying with a blast from the heat gun). These were then cut out and adhered to the surface and sides of the tin with Golden gloss gel medium and a soft brush ensuring that they were covered on both sides. Once dry I coated the entire surface of the tin with more Golden gel medium watered down slightly, missing the edges of the tin in order to ensure the tin would close afterwards. Tags to Go 2007-03-07 21:57:00 Here are three tags I made for a swap on TalkCrafts Forum . The theme was 1-2-3 and thats what I did. Both sides of the tags had to be decorated and I generally used distressed ink techniques with Ranger Distress Inks. This is the frontThey were then decorated with a variety of embellishments and stamping. This is the backThe swapped tags were then exchanged and a random selection returned. Really enjoyed taking part and there were some really fabulous interpretations and art demonstrated by the swap participants.
Brooches 2007-03-11 12:20:00 Made another two brooches today. This time instead of using bazzill chips I have used wooden shapes as a base. I found them easy to use and they are very light too. These two are actually 39 x 36 mm and they are 2mm thick. Great surface to work on ! I first applied a coat of gesso all over each shape and allowed to dry. I then applied decorative paper to the front with PVA glue and allowed it to dry. I then cut away the excess paper and sandpapered the edges until smooth and slightly bevelled. The backs of the brooches were painted with Lumiere Pink/Gold Halo metallic paint and allowed to dry.On the first brooch I randomly stamped with Versamark a small leaf stamp and heat embossed with dark brown opal EP. Then I stamped out the image of a womans face onto cream card in Pumpkin Stazon and cut it out. I then applied the cutout with PVA to the surface of the embossed brooch. I completed by edging with Burnt Sienna Chalk Ink and gave the front of the brooch a coat of matt paper Mod Podge.
Tear Drop Brooch 2007-03-11 13:14:00 Another creation.........this time free-hand painted on a wooden shape with Twinkling H2O's (Midori Melon, Orange Peel, Ocean Wave & Pink Anthurium) edged with black Stazon then sealed with matt paper Mod Podge. Dimensions are 55mm x 20mm x 2mm (at widest point). Read more:Brooch

Pattern accentuated with Versamark pen and heat embossed with Claret and Pink Pearls EP. Edged with Krylon Gold. This one is triangular, base 55mm sides 40mm. First covered in paper and then selectively heat embossed with Versamark pen and Stardust EP after edging with Ochre Chalk Ink. Quick Mothers Day Card 2007-03-18 10:05:00 Did a very quick Mothers
Day card this morning, before I set off to see my Mum for the day ! Always last minute as ever. On cream pearlescent card I stamped the butterfly (Personal Impressions) in Versamark and heat embossed with detail gold EP. Then cut out the image and coloured by hand with USArtQuest Stargazers watercolours. I added antenna with gold wire. The background was again stamped with Versamark and the Rubber Stampede Acanthus Background stamp and again embossed with detail gold EP. Trimmed this to fit and matted onto the A6 base card and embellished with the butterfly attached with foam pads. The Mother chipboard plate is by K & Co and I added a ribbon bow for good measure. Hope she likes it !! Read more:Quick

ATC Kit Swap (2) 2007-03-25 12:41:00 I have just completed the remaining 8 ATC's. So here they are !!
ATC Kit Swap 2007-03-25 09:45:00 Well another week has got lost somewhere ! I have put together a couple of ATC's from a swap of 10 kits on UKS. These are the first two completed....just 8 to go. Lost an hours sleep this morning too but welcoming the lighter evenings heralding longer & warmer days. Went to Harrogate yesterday to the Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza meaning not to spend much (the road to heaven is paved with good intentions kind of thing)..........so melted the plastic a bit but got a lot of bargain mounted stamps and some nice Invoke Arts UM's too.
Faux Dichroic Cufflinks 2007-03-30 19:18:00 Here are a pair of cufflinks I have made using small pieces of seawash glass as a base. The technique used is detailed elsewhere in the blog. Silver plated findings have been used and the finished glass has been attached with 5 minute 2-part epoxy glue. I actually wear these and will be doing more in the near future..........so keep an eye on for them ! Read more:Cufflinks
Dichroic Cufflinks 2007-04-01 11:27:00 Two more pairs of cufflinks made using the faux technique. Read more:Cufflinks
Carnival Glass 2007-03-31 23:27:00 Three more effects on seawashed glass using Fusible Film, PipeDreamInk Opals UTEE and SW clear UTEE. Whilst hot they were impressed with a stamp using metallic Brilliance inks as release agents. I used a heat gun on a non-stick craft mat rather than a melting pot. Trying this technique out to help with a query from Trish Latimer on Talkcrafts Forum. These very much remind me of antique Lustre Glass

Faux Dichroic Glass pieces 2007-03-31 19:45:00 Have had a very crafty day today. Spent all day doing these pieces
of Faux Dichroic Glass
. The melting pot, heat gun and UTEE have certainly been in action. Managed to burn the end of one of my fingers too........be warned, molten UTEE is definately VERY HOT indeed especially when stuck firmly to the end of your first digit !! I have not put my nose outside the door today, but I am off for 2 weeks so plenty of time for excursions. Here are the pieces:These are done using the melting pot..........These are done with a heat gun & stamp........
Shell Canvas & Tag 2007-04-06 17:22:00 Just bought a couple of 'SHELL' UM rubber plates from The Artistic Stamper . Like them very much and tried out one of the stamps on plate 2 on a 5 x 7 inch canvas. Did the background with Ranger distress inks in pine needles, broken china, weathered wood & shabby shutters to give a subtle and pastel effect. I then sealed this with a spray sealer. I then stamped the shell onto white tissue 4 times using Brilliance pearlescent sky blue and lavender and ColorBox aquamarine chalk ink. I quickly set these with the heat gun before applying with gloss Mod Podge to the prepared background and allowed to dry thoroughly. I then fused some Stewart Gill Peacock fusible fibres by ironing between paper and cut out the seaweed fronds which I applied carefully with glossy accents. I applied silver self adhesive letters to spell out 'Ocean Floor' and completed the canvas with numerous gold 'bubbles' with DecoArt dimensional paint in vintage gold. Finally edging the canvas with Lumiere Sunset gold Read more:Shell

One More Tag 2007-04-07 10:06:00 This one was done using a green tag as a base and 8 various stamps. Inks used were mainly Brilliance and ColorBox Chalk. Finished off with a plain pink ribbon and a staple.
Tag Time 2007-04-07 09:51:00 Firstly a very Happy Easter to everyone !Produced four more tags last night using backgrounds made by applying Stewart Gill Alchemy paints. These paints have an interference quality which provides an interesting light play. Colours used were: Afterglow, Solarflare, Mistral & Tranquility (left to right), unfortunately not easily photographed. I used sponging to provide some depth of colours. I then overstamped with a variety of Brilliance pearlescent inks and dried these with a heat gun using mounted stamps from Crafty Individuals . I finished off with some plain coloured ribbons in complimentary colours.
Decorated Box 2007-04-13 12:11:00 This is a fabulous box and tag received from a Talkcrafts Forum member as part of a 'Deep Embossing Crystals' Swap. Each of the participants was to use UTEE, Opals, Franklin or other ultra thick embossing powder in a project of any type. This absolutely gorgeous box and tag was crafted by Hilda Gale and I am now the proud owner of it. It features 'opals' embossing crystals on all panels and the tag which have been heat embossed and stamped into to give an impression. I think the finish looks 'opulent' and rich. I feel very honoured indeed to have this. Many thanks go to Hilda.

Inchies Displayed 2007-04-22 13:31:00 Having now received a multitude of Inchies
from a number of recent swaps I decided it was about time to make a start to display these. This display is in an altered frame on which I used Ranger Alcohol Ink mixatives in gold, copper and silver. It features 24 Inchies which make a marvelous display. I have used low tack repositionable adhesive so as not to damage the reverse of the tiny works of art.
Secret Houses 2007-04-21 15:45:00 Using a dowloadable template I have prepared a couple of Secret Houses. The tags are held in place with brads.
