Discouraged? Psalm 23
2008-03-08 20:35:48
Whats is a psalm? It is a sacred song or hymn. King David was a a writer of psalms of which the most read and famous of them is Psalm 23. Read on and be inspired by the promise of the song. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord f

Psalm 100
2008-03-08 07:49:20
A psalm. For giving thanks. In everything give thanks!1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations

Moses 'High'
2008-03-06 05:04:39
picture courtesy of: Replacements Ltd.“Moses might have been ‘high’ on Mt. Sinai” screamed a newspaper article. That really caught my attention. I cannot imagine the leader of the biblical Israelites a drug user.A study by an Israeli psychology professor by the name of Benny Shannon said that the Israelites who were with Moses at the dessert might have bee all ‘high’ when Moses took the 10 Commandments. Shannon said the plants in the Sinai dessert “contained the same molecules as those found in plants from which the powerful Amazonian hallucinogenic brew ayahuasca is prepared”.The burning bush of Moses, the thunder and lightning effects could have been just imaginings of the Israelites in their delirious state Shannon state

Be Happy In the Lord!
2008-03-05 02:45:44
It is by nature that WE, the human race are never contented with what we have. There is just this one-itsy-bitsy thing that we must have: then, we will be happy. But when that one thing you want more than anything else is finally ours... are we then happily contented? No. We work hard, cajole, snatch, connive, whine, pray to reach that unreachable state of happiness.Have you turned your Bible to New Testament's Book of Matthew?Matthew 5:3-12 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, fo

Do You Know How To Pray?
2008-03-03 21:10:32
I pray from the heart. No pomp. No glamour. No audience but lots of feelings and sometimes tears. I can pray anywhere. I can pray amidst a large party or when I take a bath. I do not have to be in a church or kneeling in front of an altar to pray.God is Omnipotent and Omniscient and Omnipresent. Meaning God is all powerful, all knowing and ever present wherever we are. Only God has these attributes.Who do we pray to? As the book of John 14:1 says: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.Who is the ME here? It is our Lord Jesus Christ. In John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.The disciples once asked Jesus, "Master, how do we pray?". To which Jesus replied: "This, then, is how you s

Patience

We pray. We implore. We beg. We get impatient. Then we get mad. This is usually the chain of events and emotions we go through when we seek for Divine Grace and intervention. In this era of nano technology communication through electronic mails, SMS, or long distance phone calls by internet or by regular path, can be had in split second. Almost everything is automated. With a few dial twist, the laundry is done. A click of the microwave knob and the pre-cooked-frozen lasagna is good to eat in seconds. There is proliferation of one-day mail and instant-money-send shops everywhere,The sonic boom has been redefined to super sonic boom. Man is gearing for to do everything in an accelerated pace.So used are we to the speedy conclusion of all matters that we deem the Lord is working ever so slow

What Faith Is
2008-03-01 03:54:22
For every wrong or right question you have, God has the answer. For every doubt, fear, or what ever sentiment or predicament you are in, the Bible answers it all.The following are Biblical passages referring to Faith .Mark 11:22-2422"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 23"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.Matthew 8:5-13The Faith of the Centurion 5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."7Jesus said to him, "I will

Manna from Heaven
2008-02-29 23:18:10
Manna: 1. the food miraculously supplied to the Israelites in the wilderness. Ex. 16:14–36.2. any sudden or unexpected help, advantage, or aid to success. When Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt they did not have the time nor the resources to to bring food for their long journey to the promised land. The journey took forty years! No amount of preparation would have helped the Hebrews pack food and water. They were numbering in thousands. There just no way to feed all of them.Until God.Every morning, manna can be gathered after the dew is gone. The Bible said that it was the food eaten by the Hebrew during their journey through the desert. The divine supply of manna was one of the miracles of God to show favor to the fleeing Israelites.Today, there is no manna that we can gather every morn

Faith and Deeds

I got this inspiring story from our church's supplement. I would have asked permission from the author for reprinting but the author is unknown. Here is the story. I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) mad have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being has been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile." The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reaction. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say, hello, anyway... so I thought, this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son and I went out to McDonald's. it was ju

Furthering the Gospel
2008-03-14 04:16:56
There are two ways to look at every situation. How it will affect you, and how it will affect God's kngdon. The apostle Paul was always concerned wiht how his circumstances might aid the spreading of the gospel. When he was unjustly imprisoned, he iimediately looked to see how his imprisonement might provide God's salvation to others. (Phil. 1:13; Acts 16:19-34). whe he was assailed by an angry mob, he used the opportunity to preach the gospel (Acts 22:1-21). When Paul's criminal proceedings took him before the king, his thoughts were on sharing his faith wwith the king (Acts 26:1-32). Even when Paul was shipwrecked on anisland, he used that opportunity to share the gospel there. Regardless of his circumstance, Paul's concern was how he could use his current situation to tell others of Go

A Sure Hope
2008-03-17 23:21:52
Konrad Adenauer, a former chancellor of West Germany, said " If Jesus Christ is alive, then there is hope for the world. If not, I don't see the slightest glimmer of hope on the horizon". then he added, "I believe Christ's resurrection to be one of the best-attested facts of history.Christ's resurrection and ours go together. So reasoned the apostle Paul inI Corinthians 15. And if Christ didn't rise from the grave, what's left? Empty preaching (v.14), false wtinesses (v.15), a futile faith (v.17), unforgiven sins (v. 17), no life after death (v.18), and hopelessness (v.19).But Christ did rise from the grave. Paul asserted the proof for the resurrection in verse 1 throuhg 11, listing many credible witnesses who saw the risen Lord: peter (v.5), 500 people (v.6), all the apostles (v.7) and Pa

He Lives
2008-03-22 00:09:30
One of my favorite Easter Sunday Hymn is a song written by Alfred H. Ackley in 1933.He Lives I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;I know that He is living whatever men may say;I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,And just the time I need Him, He's always near.ChorusHe lives, He lives,Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with meAlong life's narrow way.He lives, He lives,Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart. In all the world around me I see His loving care,And tho' my heart grows weary I never will despair;I know that He is leading thro' all the stormy blast,The day of His appearing will come at last.Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and singEternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King! The hope of

Psalms 23
2008-03-29 10:38:30
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. What Christian does not know or have heard of Psalms 23? The promise in this song is so overwhelming. For it says that if you have the Lord in your heart and soul, what more can you ask for?God is Great!

Two Choices
2008-03-31 21:14:49
This story was forwarded to me. I do not know who the author is. All I know is once again I was affirmed that there are still caring people out there. Read it and be Blessed. What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice? At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other chi

#1 Movie of all Time
2008-04-11 05:46:41
What do you think is the most watched movie of all time? The Titanic? No. But the movie had grossed over $ 600,000,000.00! Wow! What about Starwars? No. But the 1977 movie earned well over $ 450,000,000.00. Oh wow!I am not referring to the money earned by theses two top-grossers of all time. Note. I said, the most watched movie of all time. The film is a 1979 movie called Jesus. It depicts the life of Jesus according to the gospel of Luke. It had a budget of $ 6,000,000 only but this movie's role in worldwide evangelization is priceless.According to the New York Times,The Jesus Film is the most-watched motion picture of all time. The Jesus Film Project states that The Jesus Film has been viewed almost 5.6 billion times (including repeat viewings). This is based on the following criteria:

The Oprah Church
2008-04-12 08:06:28
I received an e-mail pointing me to click on a YouTube link. The video has something to do with the Oprah Church . I have no inkling of what this is all about so I clicked on the link and watched the video.I was quite surprised with Oprah's belief. She said that there are millions of ways or roads to get to God. She sounded like a major proponent of New Age beliefs. I cannot believe it. I thought Oprah was a God-fearing Christian. Here are some of the teachings being propelled by Oprah.1. My mind is part of God's. I am very holy.2. My holiness is my salvation.3. My salvation comes from me.4. Let me remember that there is no sin.5. Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the "old rugged cross".6. The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross.Watch the video HERE

Bedtime Prayers
2008-04-14 08:24:35
It is always an advantage to teach very young children to pray. I started to teach Ethan to say his prayers at an age when he can't even speak yet. I just tell him that it's time to pray to Jesus. No explanation. I was the one praying while he had his hands folded. We both say Amen at the end of the prayer.Praying should be a habit. We should start our children on the praying habit at the earliest possible time. Here are some evening or bedtime prayers you can teach your child.Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me: Bless Thy little child to-night; Through the darkness be Thou near me, Keep me safe till morning light. All this day Thy hand has led me, And I thank Thee for Thy care; Thou hast w

Forgiveness
2008-04-15 05:08:47
Today's Scripture "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"(Luke 23:34).Today's Word from Joel and Victoria OsteenWhen you've been hurt or offended, sometimes it's tempting to hold on to unforgiveness. But we have to remember, when people wrong us, our battle is not against flesh and blood. In other words, that person who hurt you is not the real enemy. The Bible says that your adversary is the devil, and he knows that if you don't forgive, then your prayers won't be effective. Unforgiveness puts up a barrier in your life to the power of God. Infact,if we don't forgive others, we can't be forgiven by God. But when you choose forgiveness, you open the door for God's healing power to flow through your life.Disarm the enemy in your life today by choosing forgivene

My Secret
2008-04-18 06:48:58
If I were to recount all the trials that life brought me, you might not believe it. If I tell you, as I seem to happily blog everyday, that I am full of problems, you might not believe me too.But I do have problems. My life is not easy. I sometimes have sleepless nights thinking of ways and means to my problems. Nevertheless, it is seldom that you'll see me defeated. Somehow I still find the inspiration to bounce back. Why? I have a secret that is not a secret, actually. We serve a great and mighty God. He can make a way when there seems to be no way! He was able to create the world out of nothing! How easy would it be for Him to breathe a whiff of sunlight to our sometimes dark lives. He is my secret. There is power in your words, in your prayers. Have faith and expectancy. Let your life be

Stay Connected to God
2008-04-17 03:39:09
Today's Scripture “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart form me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Do you need more power and strength in your life today? When you are connected to the Father through Jesus, you are connected to your life source. Just as a branch is sustained by the vine it’s attached to, we are sustained by being attached to Him. If you think about how fruit grows, it doesn’t just happen over night; it takes time and the right conditions. In the same way, the spiritual fruit in your own life develops over time, too. You might be tempted to get discouraged if you aren’t seeing “fruit” as quickly as you’d like, but be encouraged today! If you’ll ke

Childlike Faith

At the age of two I started to teach Ethan how to pray. The prayers are simple but I guess had no real meaning to a toddler just starting to talk. I always start my prayer with Ethan by saying Thank you Jesus for today and so on.As Ethan grew older and perhaps sire, he started to ask who Jesus is. In the simplest terms possible I explained that Jesus is the son of God. Of course that started another round of questions like who is God?It was hard explaining to a child the essence of God, or so I thought.Yesterday, I told Ethan that my very dear cousin is gravely sick. I told him that I am so sad. Ethan asked if my cousin has medicines and doctors? I said yes. Then mom, all we have to do is ask Jesus to make her well, Ethan said.I was dumbfounded! Here, is a five-year-old boy showing me

Ask For Wisdom
2008-04-25 05:06:16
Today's Scripture “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Do you need wisdom for something today? Ask God. He loves it when you call upon Him, and He longs to give generously to you. Do you need wisdom to lead your family? Do you need wisdom on your job? Do you need wisdom for a decision you have to make in life? Ask God! The next verse goes on to say that when you ask, you must ask in faith without wavering. That means you have to be absolutely determined to get your answer from Him. You can’t just ask and then decide to do things your own way, or doubt that He will give you the answer. That’s being double-minded. When you’re double-min

A Global Day of Prayer
2008-05-02 03:53:30
In the realm of Christianity, Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Book of Acts. It is historically and symbolically connected to the Jewish festival of Shavuot. Pentecost is celebrated in the Christian calendar seven weeks after Easter Sunday. This year, Pentecost Sunday will fall on May 11. For the last 3 years, Pentecost Sunday has been celebrated worldwide in a Global Day of Prayer . This is coined Ten leading up to One followed by Ninety. This is the three-part birth of the Christian church: ten days of constant prayer leading to Pentecost, one day of prayer witnessed by the whole city and ninety days of blessings that follow.10 Ten days of constant prayer: 1-10 May 2008. Today's Scripture“Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).Today's Word from Joel and VictoriaAre you facing an important decision today? God wants to give you the answer. He wants to direct your steps. Many times, He will speak to us through the people He has placed in our lives. The Bible says that safety is found in a multitude of advisors. God designed us to live in families, communities, and congregations. We need to be open to receiving input from the people who are close to us.That doesn’t mean you have to follow everything everyone tells you, but if you’re in a particular situation or relationship, and all the people around you are giving you the same word of caution, it might be God trying to get a mes

This is a re post from PinayWAHM's site. Thanks!Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering. Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job."So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away. They moused. They faxed. They e-mailed.They e-mailed with attachments. They downloaded. They did spreadsheets! They wrote reports. They created labels and cards. They created charts and graphs. They did some genealogy reportsThey did every job known to man.Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell. Then, ten minutes be
