Zach Johnson
2008-04-22 08:04:00
Wonderful illustration and design by New York based artist Zach Johnson . Most of his work is a bit dark in nature, but he does have a few pieces that aren't so dark and have turned out really nice. A bit about the artist below and a link to his portfolio at the bottom, take a few minutes and check out his work it is very good.Zachariah Johnsen, is a young artist concentrating in watercolor, pen & ink, and mixed media works on paper. His medium of choice is the micron pen and he uses them exhaustively to describe a world of ghouls, monsters, and misfits – the shady characters in everyday life, but just hidden from normal view. Zach focuses on the more ignored side of life – on the sides of people and places that visitors rarely see. In Zach’s world, most of the people h

Front Design Studio

Very cool pieces from Front Design Studio. Everything below is from Yanko Design, I was going to write my own piece but they did such a nice job explaining the pieces, I just couldn't think of anything else to say.Are your objects of tactile reality not quite giving you enough depth, dimension and shading? Neither are mine and thankfully Swedish designers Front are exhibiting their “Shade” project at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during this years Milan furniture fair. Using standard silhouettes of common household items and shading them as if on paper, the designer states his intriguing designs are “like materialized illustrations.” This is what home furnishing would look like if Dr. Seuss and M.C. Escher had a child that smoked really good pot and listened to A-Ha.via yanko

Crash Bonsai
2008-04-23 22:04:00
I just can't get enough of John Rooney's Crashed miniatures. Tiny crashed cars paired up with bonsai trees, it is just a spectacular idea and such good execution, so much fun. I really need one of these on my desk. If I put everything on my desk I say that I need on my desk the piles would just stack to the ceiling.CrashBonsai is the creation of John Rooney, an artist who is torn between the desire to create and destroy. Recently, he has been making bonsai plants, and combining them with model cars and trucks which he has creatively smashed and melted, to create "CrashBonsai," little living car crash sculptures.crashbonsaivia jalopnik

Rick Ivey

Pretty cool steel bean bag chair from designer Rick Ivery, I'm not really sure how comfortable this would be, but it sure would be a great conversation piece. A little bit about Rick Ivery below and a link to the $4500 steel bean bag chair below that, yeah thats right $4500.After graduating from Advertising at Sheridan College in 1998, Rick Ivey returned to study Furniture Design in Sheridan’s school of Crafts and Design in 2002. He believes that in creating an object, whether for a purely sculptural or functional purpose, the most important thing is the relationship between the piece and the viewer. He strives to push both the limits of his chosen materials and his ability to manipulate them, in an attempt to better understand form and function in design. This activity allows him to c

Puma Usan
2008-04-28 09:53:00
First a foremost very nice new shoes from Puma. Now on to the fun stuff, Puma has a new commercial out for their brand new shoes the Usan. The commercial is very well done and a lot of fun, with all the wire work from the dancers. What I'm really excited about if all the behind the scenes stuff that puma put online. I especially liked the "From the page to the stage" montage, I just love seeing how the story boards relate to the finished product. And it is all directed by Andrew Zuckerman, of Creature fame. Get over to Puma's site and check out all the videos, very cool.puma
