Project Sneeze 2008-03-12 08:14:00 The gesture of giving someone your number becomes a more meaningful occasion.Engraving the phone number onto the inside of the ring to be given to someone who you wish to "ring" you. This seems like it is an overly elaborate way of giving someone your number, you could just write your number on a napkin an give it out. But I guarantee that if you give someone a ring with your number on it they will remember you, and maybe actually call you back.projectsneezevia pan-dan

Index Chopping Boards 2008-03-11 15:00:00 These four color-coded polypropylene chopping boards are designed to avoid cross-contamination of various food types: red/raw meat, white/cooked foods, blue/fish, green/vegetables. The boards are stored in an ABS plastic horizontal filing unit with a non-slip rubber bottom. The index chopping boards, designed by Damian Evans, are an extremely good idea. I'm always having to either clean my cutting board or find a different one when I forget that I shouldn't cut my meats up first, always cut your vegetables and fruits first. Get it over at the MoMA store for $85.chopping boardvia swissmiss

Venus Fly Trap 2008-03-11 10:20:00 New product over at the Discover Channel Store, the Venus
Fly Trap. Trap, catch and explore live bugs with this motion activated Venus Fly Trap. You set the trap, and it catches the bugs Motion activated sensor detects when a bug has entered the chamber, and snaps the mouth shut Bait your trap to attract insects Transfer insects to your habitats, or release themI know it say 5+, yeah I'm in that category of 5+ right. This would be perfect for me because it is a plant I can't kill, yeah because it is mechanical, the insects that I catch on the other hand I would just have to release them because bugs are gross. Get it over at the Discovery Channel store for $20.
Y&R 2008-03-10 22:38:00 Really nice ad for Craftsman from Y&R Chicago and creative directors Dave Loew and Jon Wyville. Just a fun little ad and I really like the way they used different Craftsman tools to create a visually effective human skeleton.
Facade Vase 2008-03-10 21:49:00 More often than not, our reason for a new purchase is based on the aesthetic quality of the product. It could be the replacement of an old but still fuctioning wallet or a new chair to complement the home decor. however, recycled products are often stigmatized as aesthetically inferior, and reusing an old product usually means a compromise in the visual appeal. Thus the question at hand: do we really need a beautiful vase, or do we only need a beautiful facade for the vase?Made out of industrial wool felt, facade vase is derived from the archetypical for of the vase to hide the raw look of a plastic water bottle. What we get is essentially a beautiful facade and a vessel for the flowers.A most excellent idea from Orca Design, I just really like the ability to re-use a simple plastic w

Escala Comunication and Marketing 2008-03-14 08:36:00 Fairly clever ads from Escala Comunication and Marketing
out of Brazil and art directors Marcelo Peresin, Pedro Perurena and Gabriel Costa. When I first saw these I thought great ads simple clever and a good message to get behind, getting school supplies for kids who doesn't want to help out kids. Upon looking at them a bit closer there are a few things that could be changed to make them better more effective ads. First off pencils don't just run out, if it were pens it would work great, and where the heck do I donate to, there should probably be something about where to donate on these.

Designer Handwriting 2008-03-13 12:36:00 Awesome thread started at the forums over at core77, a bit about the thread below, go and check it out it is pretty cool.Designer
jeans, watches, and purses can be bought, but designer handwriting surely cannot. rkuchinsky (see his own "upper case italic with almost a script like connection between letters and forms" style above in the blue ink) started a most awesome thread, Designer Handwriting, to see what the norm is nowadays. Apparently, it's not always picture-perfect, not always ALL CAPS, and certainly not a pool of carbon copies. Some of us can totally relate to ip_wirelessly (above in the black ink) who writes with his "right foot in a hole" and "gets lazy after about 30 microseconds of writing." Feel free to upload your own scribbles and comment on others' down yonder at the Des
Drinkpee by Tim Yu 2008-03-13 10:34:00 The smart folks at EAWAG Aquatic Research in Switzerland have developed a way to extract the phosphorus and nitrogen from urine to be used as fertilizer. Cultivating the nutrients leaves urine harmless to wildlife, otherwise untreated urine reaches the oceans, feeding algae causing algae blooms (also known as Red Tides) which soak up all the oxygen and suffocate fish. This is very very ecologically cool and really helps the environment but seriously kind of gross.via IDR
Life Clock 2008-03-13 10:30:00 »Life clock«, 2008. Clock
mechanism slowed down 61320 times (each number represents years). By Bertrand Planes. I'm not sure I would necessarily name this a "Life Clock" seems more like a death clock if it is counting the years you have left to live. Really though it seems from this that no one should live beyond the age of 80. The designer should have been a little more optimistic and made this thing go to like 100.via IDR

Trends Toy Store 2008-03-17 10:03:00 "There's no use giving clothes. Kids just wanna play."Love these ads from the ad agency Bronx Comunication, Curitiba, Brazil, for Trends
toy store. These ads are so perfect, this is just what I used to do back in the day with my toys. Although I have tried to throw a G.I. Joe out of my bedroom window with a t-shirt attached to it as a parachute, it doesn't work all that well, but it is a lot of fun anyway.
